    Nirvana are only known to have played this song five times and it was recorded every time, Whether it was an official recording or a bootleg. It was played on these dates: Nov. 16 1991, Nov. 17 1991 (Best quality version) Nov. 23 1991, Nov. 26 1991 (Worst quality version) And of course, This version from Oct. 4, 1992.

    I looked up the cafe and it still exists ! It turns out its a cute little bar that has a small stage to perform on. This kind of bar/venue is mostly for under ground artists. Which is why Kurt said “thank you for letting us play here and pretend we are still under ground-“ . Im sure playing for smaller crowds is more personal.

    What makes this song great, even unique for Kurt Cobain, is that it’s just a fun song. Kurt is remembered for these dark themed songs or pieces of poetry he would write and string together, but this one belongs with songs like “Sliver”. It even sounds like a song Foo Fighters would do in the late ‘90s. Something that would be put on a late ‘90s teen movie soundtrack.

He only had his Jag-Stang prototype for a few months in '94 on the In Utero tour when Pat Smear was in the band and he didn't like it much, he planned to have Fender make changes which never happened. They had just sent him some Japanese reissue Mustangs that his tech had modified to his specs (these are the guitars the Kurt Cobain signature Mustangs are based on) and he liked those more than the JS.

      @TheBoredOne This was properly recorded it just hasnt been released yet though. Almost every concert especially big bands like nirvana have soundboard recordings for everything. Also kurt intended on using this for an album in 1994. Courtney said he had completely finished 3 songs yet not studio recorded them the three being Do Re Mi, Opinion and talk to me

    • @samcrooker4679
      @samcrooker4679 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bluemonsterblake8641yeah that would make sense!
      I could TOTALLY picture this being on a 4th album along with Opinion!
      And then there’s also Ivy League which was semi recorded instrumentally after they finished You Know You’re Right…
      I sorta pictured album 4 going into a more softer direction maybe… I mean they brought a cellist for Unplugged and then a WAY better Cellist for the overseas 94 shows…
      Do Re Mi is such a pop gem too!! I could see cello being in that song…
      Then there was also Kurt’s interest in Dave’s songs; Exhausted and Alone & Easy Target, but was shy about asking if he could use them and put his lyrics to them…
      Kurt mentioned how in retrospect he wished he showed more of the bands softer side… so I always imagine had they done a 4th album it probably would’ve had a couple rockers (of course) but then also more soft, delicate type songs…
      Like I could imagine the first few songs being rockers and then the album segues into more softer pop gems and then the end of the album returning to a couple rocker again like 2-3 rocker in the start and end of the album…. Middle section being softer and poppier…
      But unfortunately we can only speculate… but they did want to return to Robert Lang studios

      @samcrooker4679 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bluemonsterblake8641plus Kurt just had songs from his catalog that weren’t used… Poison’s Gone I could see being made into a song for sure…
      Also I’m sure Kurt had ideas that either haven’t been shown or were just stuff Kurt played on Guitar that didn’t reach a point of recording…
      Not to mention the flooding that occurred in his LA home where a few of his Journals and Recording were wrecked (there was probably a goldmine lost to that plumbing crisis 😔).
      I remember reading that Kurt was very upset he lost a portion of his writings, drawings and song ideas…

    Today, October 4th 2020, I woke up with this song in my mind. I looked up for some more information in the bootleg DVD I have, "Nirvana Talk To Me 1989-1993", and guess what: it happened exactly 28 years ago, at The Crocodile Café, Seatlle.

      in the way that Black Francis might have listened to The Association?
      This Nirvana song does have an echo of that piece of “Here Comes Your Man” but in a different tempo and spot. But the verse of “Here Comes My Man” is almost dead on to “Never My Love” by The Association. I told this once to Black Francis when he was deflecting Kurt’s line about Teen Spirit being a Pixies rip off. He said he had heard the similarity on his own song vs Never My Love. His eyes widened when I pointed out Teen Spirit tracks parts of “More Than a Feeling” pretty close.

    Given the context of this performance supporting mudhoney {old label mates} under a pseudonym [TO AVOID ATTENTION} in oct 92 {after a stellar year} in Seattle {the proverbial hometown}, its very curious the band would play this tune, teasing their peers with the potential of even higher commercial appeal and success , only to go head and pull a 180 degree turn with In Utero's abravise anti commercial. Proving they could be pop stars essentially, but chose not to go that route
