I guess those who love psychology are similar: introvert, love learning about people, overthinking, and kind of lazy :)) Thank you, your video is really helpful to me.
OMG! Me too! People often say that I am very efficient. They just don't know that because I am lazy, I have to come up with the best way to do things so that I don't have to do it again or mess it up 😂. Are you a UX designer yourself, Ngân?
WHEW! All of this! It's so nice to know that there is nothing wrong with being an overthinking introvert who enjoys sitting around and doing a little people-watching. 😅
Overthinking is my ultimate talent. Currently I’m overthinking and paranoid about pursuing a career in UX. What if I fail? What if I don’t get a job? What if the boot camp isn’t for me?? 😭
The first thing to do is to accept failure as a possibility. You may fail, not get a job or the bootcamp is the wrong one - but that should not be the end. You have to be comfortable with losing sometimes but still be able to get up, dirt off your shoulder and look for the next opportunity. Never depend on one bootcamp, job opportunity or luck to do the trick.
This video is super helpful. I've been deciding between psychology and design now for a while but ux design seems to be the best of both worlds where I can help people and use my empathy but do it in a creative way, I also overthink everything 😂😅
I am literally getting chills by how similar we are 😂 the track-running overthinking introvert who gets meeting fatigue and just wants to chill with their dog and eat good food!!! this is my kind of channel!
This video was too spot-on for me, from the point about overthinking to the random note about doing track and XC because of the pressure of being on a team. Felt like I was being called out! I watched many helpful videos, but this one connected with me the most personality wise, and now I feel a lot more comfortable pursuing this career!
i came from your '5 things i hate about being a UX designer' video and was doubting transitioning into this role because of the debate & meetings part, but after watching this video, i thought the pros def outweighed the cons (i love psych and being empathetic too, don't enjoy overthinking too much but it comes naturally so.. it's cool to know we can get paid to overthink HAHA) ty for the video!
It's like watching a spirit twin! Thank you for this. I'm so scared of UX because I overthink EVERYTHING. No one around me understands that the struggle really is real in that way. I was afraid of being intimidated to have to communicate so much with other people because I'm so introverted and hate conflict. You give me hope in my potential future in this field. Thank you!!!!!😃
Ahhhh In the process of making my first ever UX portfolio and got really discouraged and this video affirms to me that UX is the job that I truly care about and want to be really good at. It feels so good thinking UX could be my career pursuit. Thank you for sharing MiMi :)
This nailed everything about me! I have been looking for a career that fits me. Plus I want to work in tech too. You helped me find what might actually be really good for me. Thank you.
Hi Mimi! I am currently discerning if I should transition from home improvement retail sales (flooring currently) to UX Design. I've only done preliminary research so far, but the field intrigues me. Some of it reminds me of when I was creating cabinet layouts on CAD for kitchens at Lowe's. It was something different every time. Different room layouts, different needs, different budgets, different design styles, and being able to make something tangible that a client can see and will have a positive impact. I miss doing something like that without worrying about trying to close a sale. That's part of why I want to leave sales; the thrill of closing the deal just isn't there anymore. I'm still going through your videos, but I'd appreciate any additional insight you can provide is most welcome.
the more videos that I watch from you, the more i’m convinced that UXD would be a dream job for me! I do have a fewww qualms though that I feel are holding me back from taking the first steps into UXD. When you first started your journey into UXD, did you ever feel scared to fail, or not feel “cut out” or “good enough” for that line of work? if so, how did you get over those fears/anxieties?
hi! Imposter Syndrome is so real, and tbh it still hasn't gone 100% away for me, but it's important to not be so hard on yourself and it's only going to be another opportunity for us to grow. Once I feel more confident in that, I'll hopefully make a video on it in the future. Appreciate the support!
what i love about being a ux designer? THE FKN MONEY BABY. but fr, it's a chill job where i feel like i make a meaningful difference. unless that difference are dark patterns, ugh.
@@madcityy269 I have a front end Dev portfolio. I’m trying to get an apprenticeship in UX Design or UX research so I can build a portfolio. After my apprenticeship I’m thinking of going to get a bachelors or masters.
@@madcityy269 I have heard of about UX engineering. I have the opportunity to take a basic react course. So I think I will take it. I thought I would need the degree to get my foot in the door for UX design or research?
Curious question - what made u pursue a uiux career instead of following a psychologist/counsellor path? asking cause both careers path are really interesting to me which makes it hard to choose
hi Mimi, thanks for sharing! appreciate it. just want to ask, how intense the amount of overthinking is allowed and which stage yeah? 😂 - favourite question from over thinker -
Hi queen! Thanks for the video! I’m a new subscriber and new to the UX industry. I’m a fellow psychology major and over thinker! Would love to connect with yah 🤗
What kind videos would you like to see in the future?? xx mimi 🌟

I am an overthinker Pro.
Are we the same person? If there is one thing I can do it's overthinking!

I'm studying it myself. It's interesting you say that overthinking is an asset. My current director of design told me not to think too much.
Im currently a multi-media designer that loves to overthink.

Can relate to this so much. Really helpful video while trying to switch my career into this field after so much ambiguity and searching. Thank you!

Whats the average daily screen time for UX Designers?
Aww Morty got so frustrated 💙 I hope you gave him treats after. Quick question tho..how many hours do you usually work a week? It still seems 9 -5
haha the little prince always gets treats 🍪 I work as a full-time UXD so, yes you're right - 40 hours a week!
