Should have 100% ended here and would have went down as one of the best shows of all time. The show is ultimately an analogy for Dante’s Inferno, told through the story of Rick Grimes. This was the end.
If they hadn't left in the part where Maggie says that Rick was wrong to let Negan live, I think most ends would have been tied already. Since Morgan went off to find peace again, and Alexandria and Hilltop had started to rebuild Sactuary (and even The Kingdom). If the series had ended here, it would have been alright. I mean, we wouldn't have witnessed Negan's sick redemption if that had happened, but at that point in time of this episode's release, we all kinda hated Negan, and he only really became likeable at S9 with Judith.
@@sklw2449 It's what Rick says when he decides not to kill Negan. If you meant the origin of the phrase, it's a saying in Islam by Prophet Mohammed PBUH: "When Allah (God) created the creatures, He wrote in the Book, which is with Him over His Throne: “Verily, My Mercy prevailed over My Wrath.”"

Not that I agree with Carl's death, but the buildup and Rick letting all out at the tree was a great character closure. It's the season I most hate for it's potencial unreached, but my favorite scene from the hole show.
Yeah the decision of Carl's death was awful. But in the story context, they handled it so perfectly. People can say what they will about season 8 but I honestly think it's Rick's best season and serves as a great "final chapter" to his character. Show could have ended with this episode in my opinion and it would have been perfect.
This truly should’ve been the series finale. For the main show that is, understandably there would still be a shit ton of people that would want to see what happened with negan and the saviors and what happened after and what not and for that they could’ve just made a spin-off show “the walking dead: a new beginning” or something
@@twinkthatloveslotrtrilogy7676 Killing Negan would mean renouncing to a true future, to civilization. Sparing him meant peace, it meant things could change for the better, that law and justice would now prevail over savagery and death. In essence, by sparing Negan, Rick became Rick Grimes the Sheriff once again, a good man who serves not only his friends and family but the living in general. Don’t misinterpret his mercy as a form of weakness, its the opposite. It takes much more strenght to show mercy to your enemy than to take revenge.
@@KalashVodka175 I know carls death was just so stupid but that is what changed Rick Grimes and made this new beginning occur cos of the visions he had it's truly such a beautiful season that made me sob . Even Negan by the end of the episode started tearing up cos he did like Carl no doubt and finally could see forward the path to a new saga
Tbh that's how it all feels after 9x05. Season 8 feels like Rick's final chapter, and 9x01 - 9x05 feels like a sort of epilogue. If they wanted to end the show here, I too always believed it'd be perfect.
I stopped watching this show shortly after the episode. For some reason after all these years this scene and moment sticks out to me. Perfect acting and the music truly hits
3:05 I cried at this part. After all, Dwight deserved to be happy. By the way, am I the only one who thinks the video looks so original that I was expecting the credits to appear at the end?

I'm honestly glad Negan wasnt killed from this. It was a cheap trick which didnt feel earned nor satisfying at least to me. I also liked Negan's future development in the later seasons.
The true ending to The Walking Dead. I tell anyone that wants to watch it for the first time to stop after this episode. They should have finished it on this spectacular high note.
Does anyone know what the group stopped to look at when the black dude asked "Have you ever seen one that big?" Then Ricks says, "Times are changing." I couldn't make out what they were looking at.
Its called wrath but it isntvreleased anywhere. Theres a channel called B. Claimed and they post all the OST from the show. They just isolate the music and this is the product. Thats why the crickets are in the background.
Rick should have died and Carl gradually becomes the leader by the end of the series. Why go by the books on so many other things but then kill Carl and leave a massive void in his place?
The only season finale to date that could have worked as a series finale.
Yeah it was best if they just ended it here.
No. It’s still a great show but impossible to beat this vibe
