I could care less about 10 different spinoffs milking it for all it's worth for the next 5 years or so. Just let it die already!! I wish they'd give twd a noble death, one that fans could be proud of... sadly I think it's too late for that. ***I remember THIS particular scene, when this episode aired... DAMN lol just goosebumps, ya know? The gov crashing the semi through the gates of Woodbury and burning it to the ground. Then later the scene of him roaming aimlessly, dirty and disheveled. While he's telling Tara and her sister and them "he just.... LOST it. The man in charge. I barely made it out alive.." right then, the lyric in the song playing "and I'll ask for no redemption, in this cold and barren place.." Hard to believe it now but once upon a time, a thousand years ago, this was the hottest thing going on! Easily one of (if not THE) best shows on TV....
@codycooper5768 very good read Cody, you are bringing back some great memories there. I forget exactly where I stopped caring. There was one episode where instead of letting Negan die, Rick revived him. That was kind of odd? Writers kept wanting big character deaths moments like Glenn, Carl etc but the new characters, for the most part, I found dull. Plus we lost that connection the opening season.
@@PossumMagic99 I loved the episode "here's Negan" showing him losing his wife. And getting revenge on the group that attacked the doctor who helped him with cancer meds for his wife. Negan has the guy tied up before killing him, he's talking to him about where he's been, where he's at, where he's going, and he says something about "well mister.. I'm starting to think I'm capable of damn near ANYTHING.." It was perfect! It was great at showing his human side, and seeing the aftermath, later he's imagining himself talking to his former self, and says "you're a clown. A cult of personality with no more cult" In my eyes, Negan carried the show pretty much singlehandedly for YEARS. Damn shame where we're at now. And I mean I loved the whisperers! Alpha, Beta, phenomenal characters! It's just... I dunno, but something has been missing in the show for a long time, not sure what it is.. I think alot of us old school OG fans, me anyway, I'm just frustrated that they're dragging it out even LONGER?! WHY do we need to see Daryl go to France??!! Like seriously what the actual fuck? How is that gonna happen? Do I really give a damn? And Maggie and Negan go to Manhattan NY I think.. Just endlessly milking it and cheating us out of a REAL finale. The perfect ending was so SIMPLE and they didn't deliver. Here is my perfect ending: Sometime in the future, Rick returns, alive! Yayy for Rick and for happy endings! He comes face to face with Negan again. Hears the stories of Negan saving Maggie's son, Glen. How he once saved Judith. How he helped co conspire with Carol to take down alpha and the whisperers, etc etc... Rick hears Negan's heroic story, and realizes that he was RIGHT in letting him live years past, in the war with the saviours. Rick thinks back to Carl pleading to everyone to stop the killing. Carl wanting to believe that anyone CAN find redemption... Rick smiles and nods his head, and hell I dunno... maybe Rick and Negan shake hands .. THE END!!! roll credits... *sorry for the long ass comment but damnit! this story USED to actually mean something to me!!! ✌️✌️✌️
The Governor is probably my favourite villain ever on screen. Not because he is evil, but because his character is fairly grounded and you can really see his conflict between evil and good. I love negan but the Governor is just different.
His trouble is when he tries to take power and thinks he can bring the world to what it was like before. Rick understands that they can’t live like before, which is why their civilization survives.
He tried to be good, its hinted that he used to, but grew jealous of people who seemed to be good at being good and he kept failing. It happens again to him and he just loses it. Too Far Gone, one of the best titled episodes in TWD, and Gov is my second fav character of the entire series.
It even shows thru my selections that while I love justice and doing things the right way, there is something that tugs at the soul when you want to take things into ur own hands and the consequences and changes to a person that soon follows. Gov is about the most humanistic character of the entire series.
even though i am also a "rick guy." i am pretty sure if rick would have lost Carl in the prison too, he wouldn't have been far away from completely losing himself. the governor lost his daughter, that is what changed him the most. you can see that very well in his "note book." after she died he didn't really have the mind anymore, although he still felt like he had to make up for her death, with all means. which is why he slowly descended to who he became. the only one that brought him back a little bit was terras niece. since she reminded him so much of his daughter. i think the governer portraits in a very deep way the whole point of the series. "how far can you fall, until you cannot come back."
You're not entirely wrong, but it's more so that he tried to be a good person, and just couldn't keep his demons on a leash. It was implied at several points that his daughter was killed because of other humans, as opposed to walkers, and that's the reason he's so cold towards anyone he sees as an outsider. If you aren't near and dear to him, he completely dehumanizes you. Part of this also has to do with his obvious inability to cope with guilt or regret. Up until he finds his new family, he never once lets go of what happened to his daughter. He obsesses over it, to the point that it makes him cold, bitter, and utterly detached from the world. Even when he does find a new family, and maintains a stable, healthy lifestyle for a period of time, that all goes to shit when Martinez so much as HINTS at asking for his help in leading their camp. He completely loses his mind, because he knows that he can't stop himself from going mad with power, and can't deal with the pressure of being responsible for so many lives. David Morrissey has said that the character has sort of a Jekyll and Hyde conflict, in that he tries his best to be a decent man, but just can't contain the ugly side of his personality. He's haunted by his regrets at all times, and obsesses over his failures, which is why he's also so determined to get revenge on Rick and his people: He can't forgive them, because that would mean letting go of those regrets. Blake is definitely my favorite character in the show. Everyone says Negan does it better, and that's absolutely true, but Negan is not anywhere near as complex a character. He's a tremendous villain, and Jeffery Dean Morgan's performance is fucking stellar, but he doesn't have anywhere near the depth that Blake had. By far the most interesting character in the series, imo.

I see myself in this entire video. been down so low walking here and there leaving burnt bridges. thought the Governor was a great character but pride comes before the fall.
It's less about his pride, and more about his inability to cope with pressure, and his obsessive nature. He was always fairly down to earth, he just really struggled to control himself.
The walking dead season 3 was my favourite I absolutely loved that season and the show never really recaptured that feel of balancing the danger of walkers and having humans being such a huge threat. I know this is season 4 I’m just saying. The governor was such a complicated character. A man that wanted to change his ways but realised in the end he couldn’t, which makes “ we all can change” speech even better
Yeah well that was from 4 silly lol. Season 3 is the best tho, but the writing was so centered around what to do in that season other seasons really couldn’t establish the same identity as the first 3, because of how unbelievably amazing 3 is
@@Ruzz_. despite the problems season 7 and 8 had, it had some of the best moments that surpassed anything you saw in season 3. Season 6 the build up to Negan and the lineup and what carries into the season 7 premiere has to be some of the best television ever. The Whisperers arc and Commonwealth were good too. But there’s something about the saviors arc I enjoyed the most. Still can’t wait for Maggie/Negan series. Daryl series and Rick and Michonne series.
People saying negan isn’t smart compared to the governor is true, but what negan has that the governor never had was true loyalty and charisma that could rial up his men to do his every whim
Exactly. It’s all about purpose. Woodbury burned because it was all about the Gov and his desires. What Negan built was just as messed up but built in an entirely different motive. As evil as Negan was, he truly believed he was doing good. The same cannot be said of the Gov. That is why Megan’s people were all Negan!
That’s how you write a character. I’ll never forget actually feeling bad for The Governor and having hope for him, until I bawled as he cut Hershel’s head off. I miss these days of the show.
@Jay Bray thanks brother! Lost a lot in a 2 year time. Better, but much of it has to do with my mindset now. Giving thanks even for the things you don't want to give thanks for has made all the difference.

I MISS THIS WALKING DEAD I MISS KARL AND RICK AND HERSHEL AND BETH AND GLEN THIS IS THE BEST SHOW IVE EVER SEEN IT MAKES ME FEEL ALIVE IT BROUGHT US ALL TOGETHER DESPITE OUR DIFFERENCES ON SUNDAYS WE ARE PART OF THE WALKING DEAD ✌️😎
Check out True Detective, Homeland, Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, Carnivale, Deadwood, Six Feet Under, Mad Men, Justified, Sons of Anarchy, Entourage, BREAKING BAD, Better Call Saul, all of these are also amazing shows. I rank TWD among them. They give me such hope and strength. Such amazing stories.
the way the governor monitors what he just to woodbury, driving thru the fence like that & burning the place down, he did all that for all those ppl & for them to just get up & leave to join the prison, anyone wouldve done the same thing aka lost it the way he did after all he lost & tried to become.
They all left because the only thing he offered was a place to live in “safety”. He didn’t offer them purpose in the way Rick or even Negan did. The Gov deserved no better than he provided.
I miss villains like The Governor in The Walking Dead 😔 but maybe it was best not to drag on the war between Rick and The Governor like they did with the All Out War with Rick and Negan.
Saludos
@@SkillBill1000. mental games doesn't work with a manipulator dawg. the governor doesn't have feelings after he fucking shooted megan's corpse in the head and showed no emotion. Negan would die in seconds if he pissed off the governor
@Deckhand Dom No he wouldn't he and anyone he loved would be subjugated to Negan through sheer force he would kneel and Negan would probably kill him because he's a loose canon now if The Governor lived he'd try and manipulate Negan as I'm sure Negan might also like The Governor because he can honestly get shit done better than Rick probably could get Negan a lot of supplies and things he needed it could be like how Negan wanted Daryl to be for him except I feel Negan would eventually break The Governor either way it went
Anyone still go back and rewatch some of ghe walking dead and remember who you were at the time the episode came out? TWD fan, been there since episode 1. Still here in 2024.
Sorry but after watching the governors performance on the show vs negans on the show , I would say the governor feels way more terrifying to not wanna mess with especially if being alone with him just waiting for him to turn on you and easily get pissed to kill you as he does just getting unhinged around others. Guy can take over a group kill his own and make a new one and manipulate people he just met into getting what he wants for only himself and for pure evil . Dude goes far enough to bit a guys fingers off and star at walkers heads is just crazy enough . Negan only felt scary when having a shit ton of people in a group that surrounds him to where no one could defend them self from him to where his people would quickly grab a hold of you and put you down for him to deal with you afterwards as he smiles for ig to be that easy when dealing with a new enemy . If it wasn’t for him having that kind of celebrity protection and the numbers in his group people wouldn’t easily fear him that much and would take more chances standing up to him to wanna start attacking and so forth. I know negans way worse overall in the comics over the governor than in the show but I would say the governor’s way worse theh negan just show wise . As what we’ve seen with the governor fighting he kicks ass with holding his own especially with one eye with all he’s done . Has his own music and everything . The name of the governors final episode with him dying was titled too far gone wich he was literally too far gone with how evil and lost of humanity he had become . They got negan still on the show being even lucky to be alive to have changed over time with this negan redemption ark story with him now being apart of the group and trying to be a better human being as the governor was a hand full wich he killed more of our people in ricks side then negan did .And considering body the governor and negan from the comics are both villains, a lot of people are love hating negan compared to the governor people simply just hated him and got nervous and emotional in intense scene’s when he was about to do something to one of our characters . That’s the feeling you get when you see a villians performance on the show like the governor
One of the best scenes in the show I'd say. The music does a great job of complimenting what the writers want us to understand about the governor. He's finally understanding how badly he screwed up. He started out with a noble mission yet his insanity destroyed it all. What's even more amazing is how this scene makes us feel sympathy for an incredibly deranged character. I miss the old twd, anything really passed season 4 starts to get so drawn out and bland. Negan has his moments, but he's no where near the antagonist the governor was.

It's less about his pride, and more about his inability to cope with pressure, and his obsessive nature. He was always fairly down to earth, he just really struggled to control himself.
the memories 😊
I miss the govener already ):
Ha ha I like this moment 2:23
so do i XD
+battlemonster zombie: finally something slow and easy to catch
governor moves slightly: nope
zombie: son of a bitch XD
haha THUG LIFE.
lmao this is such a somber, touching scene too, but that part is still hilarious. Someone really needs to gif that.
What i really love about this song, its show how the Governor is a broken and alone man. Greatest vilain in TV Show history !
Season 3 is the best tho, but the writing was so centered around what to do in that season other seasons really couldn’t establish the same identity as the first 3, because of how unbelievably amazing 3 is
@@Hans-yo2cq I know it was season 4 I’m saying season 3 is better than it
Season 3 was the worst season. Season 6 is the best.
@@OWmyDragonBallz season 6 was really good but that’s when the problems started
@@Ruzz_. despite the problems season 7 and 8 had, it had some of the best moments that surpassed anything you saw in season 3.
Yup.
Negan is collective and orderly. The Governor failed taking the prison twice. Negan easily took Alexandria.
No matter what you go through as a leader, nobody really cares. The people will never understand what you fight for.
Especially when you fight for yourself and your own untrue daydreams.
That’s how you write a character.
I’ll never forget actually feeling bad for The Governor and having hope for him, until I bawled as he cut Hershel’s head off.
I miss these days of the show.
he is much better than negan !
Rajat kumar wait till they show negans backstory
Joseph Saint De lima i mean negan and governor both lost there family so its basically the same
if these two ever met up, Negan woulda made the governor his bitch real fast.
No offense for who likes the comics, but TV Negan is too much of a clown for my taste
lol absolutely not. Govenor would anal fuck Negan
the best scene of walking dead 😎

@Jay Bray thanks brother! Lost a lot in a 2 year time. Better, but much of it has to do with my mindset now. Giving thanks even for the things you don't want to give thanks for has made all the difference.
@@travett1001 hang in there brother. This song and this tv series (and many many other songs and films etc) have given me total strength and inspiration during my 13 months incarcerated.

Him and Rick 2 best characters in the walking dead
The Wire, The Night Of, Oz, Vengeance Unlimited, Band of Brothers, John From Cincinatti, These also have changed my life. Amazing and beautiful.
I Love This Vilain
Obrigada, TWD, por nós apresentar essa obra de arte!❤
you may lost lots of soldiers but still can won the game..
Negan is great but for me The Governor will always be the greatest Walking Dead villain
Best character best song from show, Embrace death
the way the governor monitors what he just to woodbury, driving thru the fence like that & burning the place down, he did all that for all those ppl & for them to just get up & leave to join the prison, anyone wouldve done the same thing aka lost it the way he did after all he lost & tried to become.
They all left because the only thing he offered was a place to live in “safety”. He didn’t offer them purpose in the way Rick or even Negan did. The Gov deserved no better than he provided.
I was trying to find this song for weeks. Forgot what episode it appeared in. Great moment, great tune.
So damn cozy.
El mejor villano de the walkin dead sin duda alguna.
Governor was the first character who truly encapsulated being "the walking dead"
Merle and the guvernor RIP.
The best caracters of TWD
agreed 👍
What an amazing and powerful scene about a man that lost it all and still kept going.
The Governor is a far greater and more terrifying villain than Negan, or even Alpha.
After a time ..they stopped doing music montages .. so sad 😢
I miss villains like The Governor in The Walking Dead 😔 but maybe it was best not to drag on the war between Rick and The Governor like they did with the All Out War with Rick and Negan.
Facts
Best scene in whole series
Governor wouldn’t have let negan live that long after meeting him
Negan would have killed him with Lucille or made him his bitch
HAHAHA
Dumbass comment. The Governor failed taking the prison twice. Negan was actually the only one who broke Rick. Negan would fuck the Governor up.
Anyone still go back and rewatch some of ghe walking dead and remember who you were at the time the episode came out?
TWD fan, been there since episode 1. Still here in 2024.
I miss this TWD
Phenomenal
twd get the best moment whit the governor....
Facts ! 🙏
Brian Blake aka Governor, Shane and Negan are the best characters in whole TV show.
Philip Blake* or Brain Heriot*
Shane was a punk. He had skills but he had no foresight, a skill I’m betting would come in handy.
Philip *
Even while he was killing Martinez, he didn’t want to keep being “the bad guy”
the governor, by meeting negan and his mother, gave him a meaning in his life, by wanting to protect them
EPIC
One of the best scenes in the show I'd say. The music does a great job of complimenting what the writers want us to understand about the governor. He's finally understanding how badly he screwed up. He started out with a noble mission yet his insanity destroyed it all. What's even more amazing is how this scene makes us feel sympathy for an incredibly deranged character. I miss the old twd, anything really passed season 4 starts to get so drawn out and bland. Negan has his moments, but he's no where near the antagonist the governor was.
@@ledfloyd9035 I quit watching after Alexandria, but yea the governor was great.
back when this show was good
It remains a story about people, politics, what is beyond just surviving, boundaries, redemption, family! - IT WAS NEVER about "zombies", fiction or "such a character". These are Robert Kirkman's own words, and I agree 100%, so I really love this show.

The govenor wants all, and at the end he had nothin. Nice scene like in real, In Wartime it gives no winners, always both sides lost so much.

He nearly raped Maggie, humiliated them and killed Hershel for no purpose. Great character, but to say you feel sorry for him is pushing it too far. The guy is a monster.
@@luisfreire4898 Negan and Rick did worse things than governer did
I identify with him. I used to be a person of great influence. I was the best in my fuild. I won awards and was celebrated and respected as a great leader....the past 4 years after being forced out by new activist managers who don't know rat shit from rice crispies,I have been in exile working a night job in a vacant building with no one to talk to. Unappreciated and alone. Only seeing my wife and child 1 day a week sometimes....my son is 16 now,and I've missed out on his final years of childhood.I am alone with no one to talk to and the depression is so powerful sometimes I feel like it might crush me. I completely understand what it is like to pretty much lose it all.

The Governor has a dangerous sense of jealousy, it’s the reason why Rick lost the prison was because the Governor got jealous and decided to try and eliminate him.
