I have one question I tried doing this but the Excel macro is not capturing the pivot if the row and value column are same. For eg type of item in rows and count of items in values. Please help me regarding it
doesn't work if you don''t have the exact same number of colums and rows that you had when you created the macro as well because the ranges were recorded as well. more than
im getting a run time error 5 invalid source argument ? what does that mean and how do i fix? im trying to run a macro just to create a simple pivot table
So the trick is to have a new sheet open and click insert pivot on that new sheet? I’m used to highlighting all the data prior to clicking insert pivot. Maybe that is what’s causing errors for us guys?
This Macro is wrong in 2 issues: 1- When we create a Pivot Table we never drag and select the entire List/Table we rather select only one single cell in the list and Excel recognizes the whole list. 2- This macro assumes that you will create the PT in the same existing sheet but the video did not show that the sheet was cleared first. Also if you run it on a New worksheet it will 100% return a runtime error. 3- Fixing this issue CANNOT BE DONE in the MACRO Recorder. You need to create something called a variable in VBA. Once you do that you can reuse the same macro.
This is just what I've been wanting to do! This should save me easily 1-2 hours every week!

@@Officeinstructor Any instructions on how to create that variable? That would be super useful. Thank you in advance.

This will only work if the dataset is the same size every time, which very rarely happens.
Does it work if I use CTRL+A to select all within the macro?
Sorry this will not work the next time for new data. Needs minor tweaks u need to google
