There are some inaccuracies in this video and some important omissions. Last time I checked Jamaica had not decriminalized cannabis as is being said here. What has been decriminalized is the possession of small amounts. And curiously enough everyone seems to conveniently forget to mention that one of the main reasons Golding was against the Coke extradition was that the evidence that was being used to extradite him was obtained unlawfully as per the Jamaican law.
I am a Canadian citizen but lived in Jamaica for a few years. Because of that I got to see alot of Jamaica that other "tourists" don't. I saw the BEAUTIFUL country most "tourists" don't. And I saw ALOT of CORRUPTION most "tourists " don't. This man right here is Kingstons "Peter Pan". He protected the vulnerable, and supplied help to hundreds if not thousands of children throughout the years to obtain their educations.. Many family dont always have the money to send ALL their children to school consistently. This man provided these children a brighter tomorrow. Rumor has it this man is also responsible for some not so nice things to. At the end of the day, This community (and many others) needs structure. Unfortunately because of so much CORRUPTION within the Government and the Police Christopher Dudus was the structure of AUTHORITY that communities need. The government got caught with their tale between their legs and basically asked for World War THREE. That's EXACTLY what they got. Citizens were SLAUGHTERED. Straight up MURDERED. I'm sorry to say but until Jamaica is NOT run by a CLOWN, this is how it's always gonna be. The government needs to be SUPER ASHAMED of themselves. Not to mention the fact his Daddy was killed in a fire at the jail he was in while awaiting extradition to the United States. How coincidental is that really? From what I understand the man was on route to the American Embassy in Kingston to turn himself in DIRECTLY to AMERICAN authorities . In fear he'll end up like his daddy. Speaking of his daddy.... He goes by Jim Brown. And let's just say that Christopher "coke" Dudus had to have learnt that behavior from somewhere and someone. Or more This man's siblings are NO DIFFERENT than him and their Daddy. You definitely can't judge a book by its cover because you never ACTUALLY know what might or might not happen. Until its to late maybe even
Y'all forgot to mention Lester aka Jim Brown his father who was the initial leader of the shower posse. Please people take this doc with a grain of salt, it's investigating from afar they didn't walk the streets of Tivoli to interview people. Dudus led but he also fed, sheltered, maintained lives of many families. That doesn't mean he's a hero but again there are many gaps in the story...
i suppose it's hard to cram all that into a manageable length for a video, but thanks for pointing it out. i was really interested in this story so i guess i'll read up on it
He seems to be a Robin Hood that doesn't steal from the rich but in stead smuggle and sell drugs. O, and killing people too. While making sure people have the opportunity to get addicted and stay addicted. But he made sure that the people around him got taken care off. Seems like bribing the community typing it out like this.

Every country experience issues in some form. Jamaica is no difference. Despite all of that, jamaica is paradise. Folks travel from all parts of the world to experience our paradise. We are still proud and love our country🇯🇲🇯🇲
Another example of why the people who are directly affected by the issue, should be the only voices involved in Telling the story. A huge part was left out: the war on drugs in the US disproportionately affected Black immigrants, many of whom were from Jamaica. Many Jamaicans were deported back home , while being addicted to crack from living in the states. The demand for cocaine and crack in Jamaica, grew extensively as a direct result of harsh drug laws in the US. There’s so much context lost, by leaving this out of the conversation.
Also Jamaican immigrants killed so many black Americans. The JSP killed their way to the top of the drug trade in the US. They were way worse than the Cubans in FL

Don’t believe anything from #fakenews vice. It’s leftist crap
Why is everybody so blown away by this? Jamaica is crazy! And the Dons are serious
they dont understand lol till it put in them face.
This one was especially good. Please focus more on some of the lesser known international drug rings and their history.
By the time vice is making documentaries on them theyre no longer interesting.
Somethings and in some cases some people are left best unsaid/unspoken of.
There's a german crime ring that's international, but no information on it.
As a Jamaican American, Coke and his father Lester Brown...they are well known.
m.th-cam.com/video/0bEb6hjqtcM/w-d-xo.html
This story is almost common sense lol
War on drugs videos is the best Vice has to offer. Keep up the good work.
Is it me or did Bush set that bag of rocks down like "im gonna hold this right here cause we're gonna smoke this later" LMFAO
Loving this one thanks for sharing very information blessed love to all knowledge is power hopefully everyone pays attention keep up the good work 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
I just wanted to say I don’t know what you might be going through Or what situation you’re in right now but I no god is there for you and he loves you God bless everyone who came across this
As a Jamaican let me just say the criminals at the time were heavily armed. The people of the community were in fear at all times, and it didn't help that even the police at the time were a threat to basically every teen to adult male at the time. Lots of stories about police shooting guys because they acted as Judge and jury. Glad it's over.
Not really Jamaica is still a mess
@@zabchris3776 yh but I feel it isn't as bad as it once was. Then again it never got significantly better. New criminals keep appearing, and it seems that they just get worse and worse.
@@kev1593 it's worse believe me, it's much worse
@@kev1593 way worse
You are a liar i grew up in denham town/tivoli, no one was never in fear of their lives when dudus was there, infact it was the opposite, there was no rape, nor murders infact while western kgn was dubbed the mother of all garrison no one would take away the fact that it was peaceful inside denham town and tivoli gardens. Yes when therr was conflict the men solved it but it was very peaceful, now round deh worst, you cant wven walk in peace suh me nuh know whe yaa talk bout
These vice videos are very well made
Any good finds lately?
20 year old documentary
Dudas Coke, I remember him well as I know a lot of Jamaican's and this guy gave more to the people than the corrupt CIA backed Government ever did, that's why he's a hero in Jamaica.
It almost seems like it’s phonetically pronounced Dude has coke😂
He was the enforcer for the CIA backed government, it was his job to give to the people
If your brainwashed ofcourse
You didn’t know Dudus stop lying fi clout
@@spitfire0781 never said I knew him?? said I knew of him, there’s a difference.. I don’t need any clout, I don’t move in circles like that anymore, I’m an old man now lol 😂 nothing to prove.
Been a wait pon this 🇯🇲
There are some inaccuracies in this video and some important omissions.
Jamaicas Escobar…the number of murders always shocks me as it’s only a tiny island
Jamaica 🇯🇲 🇯🇲 🇯🇲 is still beautiful despite the views set here. America has a bigger drug Organization than any carribiean island.
@@fabiansmith5860I like you back🤗

@@spitfire0781 stop it it’s serious my friend lost he’s foot also war was taking place in Waterford while this going on.
At the end of the day,
This community (and many others) needs structure.
Unfortunately because of so much CORRUPTION within the Government and the Police
Christopher Dudus was the structure of AUTHORITY that communities need.
Or more
This man's siblings are NO DIFFERENT than him and their Daddy.
You definitely can't judge a book by its cover because you never ACTUALLY know what might or might not happen. Until its to late maybe even
One prezzi 🔥🔥❤️🇯🇲
I like how bush threw that big crack rock in his desk drawer for later .
That doesn't mean he's a hero but again there are many gaps in the story...
i suppose it's hard to cram all that into a manageable length for a video, but thanks for pointing it out. i was really interested in this story so i guess i'll read up on it
@@lit_for_20 best if you watch the Jamaican news. This clip lives on forever th-cam.com/video/swrX9OtKNg0/w-d-xo.html
Always interesting to see the poor supporting those who keep them poor.

Spectacularly done, vice!
Now this is the old and good VICE we like.
Dear vice, this is the content we fell in love with please keep it up
He honestly sounded like a proper ruler to me. Love, respect and fear from his people. And what government in the world has hands that aren't blood stained?
He was a tyrant who somehow did a better job at ruling and even giving social programs than the Jamaican gov
@Der'ez Redskinfans a real talk lol 🤣🤣🤣
Drugs is definitely winning the war on drugs I just found out I can use my Wisconsin medical marijuana card to buy real marijuana in Illinois
Great journalism 👍🇺🇸🇬🇧🇨🇦🇯🇲💵🌍
My friends mother was connected to this man and he had millions he is still trying to get from his trust. My friend is still a don in Jamaica

😂😂😂 the USA Government seized everything he had including the unseen from his loyal family, friends and soldiers.
It’s almost always like you take down 1 drug leader and 5 more spring up. Makes you really think what is the answer?
Got Eem!
I CAN TELL YOU WAY MORE THAN WHAT THE MEDIA COULD 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lets hear it
Every country experience issues in some form. Jamaica is no difference. Despite all of that, jamaica is paradise. Folks travel from all parts of the world to experience our paradise. We are still proud and love our country🇯🇲🇯🇲
If you reading this I wish you become successful…
Another example of why the people who are directly affected by the issue, should be the only voices involved in Telling the story. A huge part was left out:
the war on drugs in the US disproportionately affected Black immigrants, many of whom were from Jamaica.
Many Jamaicans were deported back home , while being addicted to crack from living in the states. The demand for cocaine and crack in Jamaica, grew extensively as a direct result of harsh drug laws in the US. There’s so much context lost, by leaving this out of the conversation.
Sadly this fact is lost on a lot of people.
So you continue feeding them crack because there's a demand ?
Also Jamaican immigrants killed so many black Americans. The JSP killed their way to the top of the drug trade in the US. They were way worse than the Cubans in FL
@@ybgl7965 a who you???
You American people introduce Jamaicans in wrong doings so don’t bother with it
@@cattyjackson5 Lie! This is Jamaican culture. Yall brought a while new level of street violence to the drug game in America. Then instead of building up your country, yall gave it to whites and Chinese who now own the resort areas in Jamaica. The resort areas are the only semi safe places in that country. Caricom better get those reparations from the Brits so things can get better.
As a Jamaican American, the people of Kingston begged for Coke to stay....He paid everyone's light bills, your cable bill water bill. Didn't have money for your kids school uniform? Supplies? He did it all. Someone raped someone in town....tell Coke and that guy would vanish. In Jamaica, you have no idea how valuable a neighborhood Don is, they are more like community leaders. When one "woman" speaks for all, then innocent lives gets taken as well. So foolish, bout "we a guh d€@d fi him tuh" 🙄. So tragic, more innocent lives were taken more than anything. Most of these people were only guilty of being poor. May God guide and protect his children. Turn from your wicked ways and put God first👏💙🔥
I remember hearing the gunshots and helicopters when the extradition was going on as a kid I Kingston. Very good doc Vice!
I’m glad you survived dawg
As a Jamaican and having had lived through this and me and my friends were rushing to get home for the curfew and I just remember seen tong and tons of armed solders in trucks headed somewhere...wild time
@fantomas you have some but mostly it's just street level thugs who know no other way of conflict resolution than killing ppl who slight them in the least little thing. They're usually heartless cold-blooded murderous cowards smart enough to apparently pull of crime but not go find a job and stop harassing regular citizens and we are so tired of the violence.
I remember going to school while this was going on in Jamaica. A war was taking place in Waterford where I went to school up road. My mom had to come get me at school
I just remember too over Waterford war was going on no sah
Dudus sounds like Nino Brown of the movie "New Jack City"!

That judgment is absurdly low!
so sad for the people of Jamaica and the corruption.
The “War on drugs” keeps a lot of law enforcement flush with work and overtime pay. It gives politicians and government justification for oppressive practices.
War literally means fighting is a requirement🙂
