The character(s) and builds you've spent hundreds of hours min/maxing are still useable...just not for the continuing story, future leagues, or upcoming manhunt activities - you know, all the things your min/maxed builds are the most useful for. Am I really supposed to be excited that all the time and resources I put into my builds is now useful for a "Master" mission and clearing Level 4 checkpoints and random supply convoys or broadcasts? Like, the character that "killed" Keener, hunted down Faye Lau, and located Kelso is now chilling on the sofa while Level 12 RandomAgent0567 is finishing the story?
    Ridiculous.

If it’s JUST the manhunt target stuff that requires a seasonal character whereas all other season activities such as leagues and GE’s are on Mains, I can almost get by with that.
I’ve spent my time optimising builds for leagues. Not raids or incursions or legendary. Leagues. If I can’t use them for leagues or GE’s then what’s the point of all that time?

It doesn’t have to the storage space on the server. It has to do with bad coding and needing to load all your characters inventory (stash plus current character) and keep it in check to avoid “cheating”. So theoretically they could add a bunch more characters and not have any issues. Or they could just fix the code.

Well, I am playing for the story and I am a solo player hence the master difficulty group missions are of no interest for me. Forcing me to start new seasonal character every time I want to continue enjoying the story is certainly a deal breaker for me. I don't like the seasonal character system in general, never liked it in Diablo and in other games. I like the feeling that my character is developing in the story, how exactly is the new character every time contributing to that feeling. Also I can't be bothered to make new builds and do everything from 0 every time. So most likely I will finish the current season and bid Division 2 farewell. That is just my point of view.

The point made at 5.28 is the crux of most people's issue, they are creating such a disconnect when it comes to the story with this change, I'm invested in my character, not just levels and loot, but story. i do not see any reason why they can't make the seasonal characters optional. if people want to enjoy the seasons "properly", they are welcome to do so on a seasonal character. if i want to blow through it with a striker/memento build, let me make that decision. let me play the way i want to play. just communicate clearly that it is tailored to seasonals and that's it.

From a gameplay perspective, I can absolutely accept all of your arguments. Running seasons this way to make the gameplay interesting can work. My problem with what's been described is linking the story to the new season format. My main is the protagonist of the whole story for me, that's where my emotional investment in the story is, and his story would come to an abrupt end with the implementation of this change. They're asking us to just discard a big part of the reason why we actually care about the story. If they allowed the story to continue with our mains, and then offered the seasonal character a reward track which was independent of the story, then I could 100% be on board with this. Also, what would this mean in terms of collectables?

Like you, the only issue is the story/Charakter Integration. They could solve this by doing something like they did in div 1 with survival Mode. Of course this cannot be done one on one. My thinking is: If one decided to do the story/season, they should allow you to Start with the Main Charakter, Beginn with a random Mission or activity, and halfway trough or at the Boss encounter, they could Do a cutscene where they Show how your Agend is beeing injured and end up in the emergency room or something. After that you should be able to play with your Main "wekened/level 1" Charakter the season (sorry for my Bad englisch)

Here is my issue RG . My character is tied to the story, just like Kelso and Keener. So unless they have some excellent story twists in store, I don't like the fact that my character is sitting on the sidelines during the climax of the Keener storyline. In my mind, I have been preparing my character for whatever Keener is cooking up, and now you are telling me that my character won't be involved in the ongoing story? That is a slap in the face, in my opinion.

This. Unless our character either dies canonically or joins keener and goes rough at the end of this season, starting a new character will be so much less immersive, and as it is I’m going to be less invested in some random character I made just to play content than the guy I’ve spent hundreds of hours customising and experiencing everything in the game with.

    1) Lose Characters & Progression:
They state that they are "adding an extra slot." This solves the problem for the first season, but unless they do that every single season, they kick the can down the road. If they misspoke and meant that they are adding an extra slot each season, then they have opened a whole new can of worms. After a year or two, people will have 12 characters and will have an advantage over people who didn't participate (12 exotics per week vs 4).
    2) Invalidates Character:
It does invalidate my main character for the following:
    A) Build crafting
    B) Experiencing the story
    C) Gathering Collectables
It shouldn't have to be said how important those three things are in a story-based looter-shooter.
    3) Existing Characters losing access:
You should imagine how well your channel would do if you were forced to take a month off and then only discuss and build with a full season as a delay. Everyone else can discuss and use the new items and story elements, but you aren't. That is what seasonal characters are doing to people who opt out of the "voluntary" system; if I choose not to do it, then I can't play with the new toys everyone is talking about, I can't enjoy the community's discovery of a broken meta because I won't get that gun/item until after it has been patched.
    4) You aren't forced to create a new character; you can play as you like:
Unless I want to acquire new items and incorporate them into a build or find out what is happening with the story in real-time, I am better served just watching someone else play because at least then there are new items and experiences to be had.
    5) It can be assumed the Season Rewards will become available after the season is complete
At the risk of items being locked behind other content like the dark zone or decent.
    6) Seasonal Character Grind
They said seasonal characters will have "faster progression through improved on-boarding and a more streamlined access to endgame." That is not the same thing you described. Additionally, I am now forced to play the curated content that they have selected instead of deciding to level how I want to level. Yes, leveling a character from 1 - 40 can become monotonous if you do it multiple times (ignoring that you can do WONY in ~6-8 hours); there is nothing to indicate that the new system will be enjoyable. For some people, the season will be as bad or worse than their least favorite event, except now they won't have the option to turn it off and still be rewarded.
The reward for all of this is to restrict my ability to be creative when it comes to builds, why should I engage with the community and content creators if there is a significant chance that I wont ever be able to recreate an interesting build someone found, why should I engage in pvp (conflict or dz) if I know I am going to be stacked up against someone who has 3x the availability to farm for overpowered combinations.

Or what if seasonal characters are siloed off completely and we can't match with them. Now we have a split playerbase.
It seems to be the only way this insanity makes sense is to do a hardcore-esque split from seasonal vs not.
And that's functionally invalidating your main even if RG wants to put a happy face on it. Not deleted, just rendered irrelevant/permanently put in second-class status.

I'd have to disagree with you Rogue on the point where you said they aren't forcing you, yes they are. In order to play all Seasonal activities, you HAVE to play with a seasonal character. So no, It isn't optional. Lastly, I have said it before and I'll say it again, Devs need to stop choosing for players. They should provide options and let the players decide how they want to play. Simply provide both options, play with main or seasonal Level 1 character if you want the challenge. It's that simple. I'm gonna play it regardless but that's just my two cents.

Yes it makes it more friendly for brand new players. But how many new players are really going to join / start now? The vets are who keep the game alive.

Absolutely it's important for them to take into account their playerbase's total and average availability and playtime when designing these systems. One thing I will say is that the game has indeed continued to draw in a pretty steady flow of new players ever since the Season 9/10 era, but even with that in mind- as you said it's of course imperative for them to continue to respect the vets who paved the road.

On the other hand I’m finding it really difficult to imagine what they can do, shuffle around or modify the campaign with that’s going to make me want to start from level 1 again each season to play it. I found the campaign to be ok but certainly nothing I ever felt like doing again.
Even running a mule in WONY got old very quickly for me, even with the massive resource payout at the end I really can’t bring myself to do it anymore.

Not entirely true. Destiny not only ROTATES environments, activities, etc., in and out, but often times digs into the "Destiny Content Vault," reprising old stuff (sometimes from Destiny 1) into PAID content. This isn't to say Division couldn't use more actual NEW content, because I agree, it could. However, Destiny doesn't make as much truly "new" content as you imply, and what is new is often not permanent.

@@RedShadowOfSaturn I agree, Destiny does dig into the vault, but usually when it does, it comes with changes, new stories, and cutscenes added into the mix. Rarely is vaulted content added into the mix with no changes. It does seem like Div 2 is following more in line with how Diablo 4 approaches their seasonal content which I can’t speak for, but my thought process is that it would make more sense to tease/announce the Brooklyn DLC and add the seasonal characters alongside the new DLC. Still don’t like the aspect of seasonal characters as I really only play the game for the story/lore and not being able to use my main character for a huge aspect of my drive to play this game really just sucks. If anything, let us use our main characters and just use a Seasonal level system where they can still offer a diverse experience as well as use modifiers and level progression for the Manhunts while allowing us to play on our main characters. Besides, that new difficulty is only available for the Manhunt Climax missions and once we play through that, it’s back to the same old stuff we’ve been doing for god knows how long. Some may say that our main characters aren’t obsolete, but they essentially are for basically 95% of each season’s story and pass grind

First and foremost this vid is greatly appreciated.
Second I'm seeing this vid 2 hours after it's been posted and there is already over 300 comments so without reading any of them I'm quite sure I'll be repeating what has already been said numerous times but here goes, I got a feeling it's gonna be TLTR.
    1. I hate to actually say this out loud because I don't think I really feel this way but it just feels like the Devs are just being lazy to the Veteran players.
    2. If we have become over Powered like what is being suggested then why not come up with modifiers to challenge us, we got an EXCELLENT one when we fought the recruiter with losing our SHD it's already been introduced in game and there isn't anyone here gonna tell me that didn't throw them for a loop and challenge them whatever world tier or level you were playing on.
Weather modifiers can also be added such as torrential downpours, windstorms, heavy smoke, bright light and so on, ALL BTW that already exists in game.
    3. This once again feels like it's catering toward the "new player" and ya know I'm getting really sick of that, i welcome new folks with open arms but it's your problem to catch up and I shouldn't be dumbed down for you to do so.
    4. So my main toon saw the story from the beginning until the end of this season and then some new guys/gals (plural) takes over and finishes the story until Div 3? Nah, that's Bull$#!t.
My main toon is my Avatar, he is part of me, I don't want some random stranger finishing my game and story.
    5. Seasonal characters may be fine for other games just starting out but this game is 5 1/2 years old and will be closer 6 when this is introduced, how many more hours and SHD levels will we have invested by then? Between my 4 toons, Main, Hardcore and two mules I have well and I do mean well over 3,120 hours into this game, I don't want to start a new toon/s each season, if i wanted the challenge they want to introduce I'd just start one on my own without them forcing me to do so.
    6. I already see vids where people have figured out how to cheeseD!(k a new mule from 1-40 in about 20 minutes, this totally breaks the story immersion of the game because you don't even have to beat Keener to get his watch at level 40, it just magically appears.
Do you know how terrified and excited both a buddy and I were when we faced off with Keener with our HardCore Characters, so afraid we were going to die just to get that watch and now all I have to do is stand at the base and do weekly donations to eventually get one? Very VERY bad moves on the Devs part.
    7. i saw a poll on Twitter/X and (at that time) 89% of the folks didn't want Seasonal Characters, THAT is your community speaking to the Devs, they should probably listen for the sake of Div 3, just sayin'
    8. This season has shown us they have nothing new as far as Manhunts go, sure they are called Trails but it's still just like it's always been, I don't see them doing anything much different then playing the same old missions, control points and so on during any given Global Event except now you'll be doing it with a level 1 toon, no thanks.
    9. Lastly, The whole, "you can experiment with new builds" comment is straight up B.S. by the Devs, we've been doing that for the last 5 1/2 years and there are 80 bazillion vids right hear on Y.T to prove it.
That's my take gonna spend (however long) reading everyone else's comments

I want to play the new content, especially the story, with my main character. This will no longer be possible, either in whole or in part. That's all I needed to know to be disappointed. The Master difficulty is a jerk-off attempt at keeping people pacified.
The dev team's inability to come up with balancing solutions outside of shadow-banning our mains is not our problem, it is theirs. We are not developers, they are.
On the topic of "wait and see" - We don't 'know' that the boat will sink if you shoot holes in the bottom, but we are correct to be concerned when we see someone loading the gun. Now is definitely the time to express concerns, so that changes can be implemented by the dev team based on community feedback.
And on the topic of full disclosure, I feel like we need to highlight that the loudest voices on the 'wait and see' train are those individuals who directly benefit from the continued existence of the game and it's popularity. I'm not calling streamers 'shills' or 'corporate mouthpieces' or anything accusatory like that - clearly not true and not productive to even discuss. But to leave that fact unexamined is. in my opinion, just as misleading as someone claiming we are all doomed in season 2.

100% would love more specifics about how they are planning to implement this but it still goes back to WHY in the first place.
If they follow through, im very likely to take my sunk costs and move on with my life. No point sticking around to be gaslit about how compelling everything is and won't you please buy this skin or level skip?

The core issue with the game has always been the lack of build diversity due to the oversimplified gear system and specializations which lack depth. The spec rework which could have brought changes without forcing people to re-farm builds didn't happen, project resolve totally failed to change the gear we use, and a majority of the gear we have received since TU15 is dead on arrival or redundant. Expertise was also advertised as encouraging hybridization of builds, but in effect only made strong builds stronger. I doubt adding countdown-style modifiers to the seasonal gameplay is going to address this, and further gear changes are not going to happen due to seasonal inventories being transferrable. Master difficulty is likely going to be another generic 3 DPS 1 support check similar to legendary missions or the incursion (despite the developers stating otherwise) and the last time we got new set pieces for manhunts were the Jupiter and Hornet manhunt missions which does not bode well for the weekly scouts they have planned. Hate to say it, but given all this history I don't think the developers have what it takes to bring any meaningful change. They could have left it dead after the conclusion of TU14 and the game would more or less be the same, with a less bloated loot pool and fewer bugs.

I want to play a tactical looter shooter... That is it. How i want to play out that shooter should be my choice; give player options. This should have been a situation where ALL of this is accessible to both non-seasonal and seasonal characters (only difference is they add different difficulty, objectives, etc, to seasonal to make it interesting), but YOU get to choose which character you want to play it with, and how. Its that simple. If Ubisoft is worried about boredom, give US the choice on what we consider "boring" or "tedious".
Cause forcing me to go back and forth between my "blood, sweat, and tears" main character with the DPS I have worked on, and a new character, is straight tedious and a quick way to piss people off..... ESPECIALLY for manhunts and story content.... Seriously? Story content?? Many people play out these stories in their heads (part of the fun) where their character IS them, or a character they made up with back story, etc (also why I hate the phrase "toons").... Now its played out like "don't forget this is all just game mechanics, please walk through the usual seasonal template like other games, now". The team working on the game is nowhere near large enough to deliver new zones, Incursions, modes, etc. each Season- like Destiny or other titles are able to. Given that fact, Seasons are inevitably going to include a rehash of what we already have. In comparing what we have now, to the idea of what the new system allows, I think the new system sounds like a more enticing way to play the game. Its admitting implicitly they can't make a compelling reason to play through again as a random lvl1 agent. Something different enough to justify the re-roll just isn't going to happen.

The more it’s described, the worse it sounds. No amount of spin will change the fact that these changes are designed to get us to replay the same content as noobs. If we continue with our high level characters, we tank the content in a week. No new content or Division 3 is available. This is the carrot in the stick to keep us going longer, but it offers nothing new.
This is simply resetting out progress and making everyone start over.

From what I know from playing seasonal characters in Diablo, is that all new season content is locked BEHIND the season character methodology.
Most of us can't not and should not be asked to put our main character aside because they (MASSIVE) wants us to play their way. Mind you, these mains have thousands of hours played, pain stakingly crafted min maxed builds, and expertise like the icing on the cake. Surely you can see what I'm talking about here. It's audacity of shoving our collective faces in some half-baked, last second, bombshell announcement and expecting us to like it. Seasonal characters work for other games because those methodologies are rooted in their gameplay. Not 5-6 years later as a hail mary to keep some assemblance of relevancy. With no details given, and radio silence, we, the community, are left to our own speculation and panic. Here's what I know, especially with dealing with MASSIVE and this Franchise from Division 1 days
    1) They just dropped a bombshell. So now they need to tread extremely f**king lightly. Especially with how volatile this community is.
    2) Details on how, when, and what should communicated sooner than later. The next few days would be prudential, not a few weeks from now, when the community is good and pissed off from all the speculation.
    And..
    3) IMO season characters are a great way to alienate and divide an already dwindling player base.
Long story short, most of us can not be asked to start over. Even if, starting over means new content and rewards. I would hazard a guess that if the community makes enough a big enough stink about it, and guessing from the posts I've seen thus far, ya'll ain't disappointing, that they will roll it back.

I was going to make a huge post but I decided to cut it back to this. I HATE THIS. (edit. I still made a large post lol)
I hate it from a story perspective: what my agent is just sitting on her ass as Random Agent 25 does the grunt work?
I hate it from a reward perspective: If im doing a new character im not leveling up my expertise. Im literally delaying advancement
I hate it from a gameplay perspective: Im going to use weapons I dont want to use and gear I dont want to use so I can have the privilege of doing the SAME EXACT THING later on with the equipment I actually want?
I hate it from a time perspective: I dont play the game religiously. I usually log on and do an hour or 2 once a week at the start of new events. I do not want to be wasting hours upon hours to get the privilege of seein new lore
The only way I would be even remotely okay with this is the following
    1) I can hit one button to clone my main agent carrying full customization and gear appearance to this new character
    2) I can transfer at least my weapons to new character
    3) The leveling process to 40 is like x5 or x10 speed. (ya I think even x5 is too slow)
    OR
Just let us do it with our main characters on master unlocked already and have this season character as an optional thing. This is NOT optional if you want the story.
Seriously I despise Descent for this very reason and have only done it once failing to make it to the Nemesis on release. This is Descent way fucking worse. If balance is such a concern then let us change the difficulty settings. Ive done that on previous manhunts that I found too difficult before. But with the seasonal characters it splits an already dwindling and small player base even smaller cutting us in half would i rather take a gigachad level 20000 into a legendary mission and know his build will be good or do i risk taking a seasonal through a mission at the expense of my own time with a likely chance his build isnt prepared for it cause most people wont be bother to actually gear cause you dont have them for long. And with the BAG SPACE how how HOW is there room for new characters but no expansions of bag or stash space dont worry at the end of the season all his stuff will transfer to your main oh great as it collects dust and fills my already full mailbox cause i got no room to put that stuff away either. It is definitely an idea that needs more thought put into it cause there is no way this will go good with how things currently are in the game other things need more focus and time then adding something else that will take time away from the content people actually play ie. raids and pvp

I think this would have made more sense much earlier on. 6+ years later, I am less enthusiastic. The story beats make no sense as you are now not "the" agent, you are "an" agent. Cannot expect people who invested years, regardless of how many times a week they play, to just love this whole thing when that amounts to nothing. The games that offer seasonal content, put anything new into the seasonal content only; characters then fall out to the general pool on season change, and you end up with lots of characters you never use again. I've played seasonal games, and it can be great. But only if it's designed from the ground up for that model. Div 2 isn't.

  • @nelsonpena5185

Starting a new character for a season will get old. At first it might feel fresh to start again, but I have already done this with the main story a couple of times. Having modifiers on the season to steer you into certain builds may seem like a good idea as a developer for different challenges. However, doing so will be off putting to many. Look at Descent as an example. Many just do not find it fun at all when you get a build not suited to your play style and even worse when you play for a long time and get hardly any loot at all.
Another issue is the players that do not even know how to make builds. I already had to guide many on how to get one started. The seasons 2.0 may make those players be completely lost.
The excitement for some came from hard-core mode. The constant Delta-03 that I experience ruin my chances with it.

OSRS is an extremely different game to the division. In leagues you can get gear and stats equal to your main in a matter of weeks. Unless Ubisoft makes it so everything drops maxed and has 10x drop rate for all exotics and named items, I don’t think most people are gonna be able to replicate many if any of their builds from their main character. Not to mention leagues continuously rewards you with points throughout the league so you can buy the new items on your main. With seasonal characters it seems we’ll need to wait multiple months for the season to end. Even if you don’t like the new leagues items you can sell em for a decent chunk of gp, if you don’t like the new division items you’re just out of luck

  • @SniperWolf0225
    @SniperWolf0225 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Honestly this is not the way to do this, seasonal characters were not a thing for division. This could hurt or kill the game's player base. I love division but to force me to have to make a character to enjoy the game's final content, that kills the idea to wanna play the seasons. Diablo 4 had this day one so it was expected and thus every season after, you know you will have to prepare to start again. Part of me thinks this is a test for div 3 could be seeing how the community reacts to it.
Your point of how players already are set in their builds becomes less impactful when you know unless the new stuff can challenge the OG builds players will just chase their old builds again. With loot selection from the tower or running the local section loot a dedicated player can get their build back or close to it in a day. Thus putting them back in their own power less than 48 hrs if it indeed only takes 10 to 15 hrs of grinding to max level our seasonal character.
I never am for force player reset to make the content "Challenging" i think the new seasons should have a "Lethal" mode something that actually challenges the Meta builds. Make it optional so those who want that challenge can do it while others who enjoy ripping through hordes can continue to do so. Make this Lethal mode more rewarding (I know we are getting master mode for some stuff like raids so basically that)
My major argument against this is, these changes are way to late and feel like its not necessary since we are expecting a Division 3. If they announced that Division 3 will no longer happening and all future content / DLCS will expand the universe in Division 2 for the future (like warframe or Wow) maybe id be more willing for this but since we know in maybe a year or 2 we may get the trailer for Division 3 it doesn't sit right with me. Will i play it if this happens, most likely if the season has something i really want. However if the patch notes do not show anything loot wise that even remotely grabs me and then ill just watch it on your channel for the story.
As always Rouge thanks for the update.

@RogueGold While I respect your point of view on the scout agents and enjoying the experience of the grind you haven't felt in a long time, as day one veteran, my main character has been a part of the growing narrative and has been a connected to the story for 5 years.
Forcing my hand, and not allowing my character to continue in the story who has had profound impact on the arc is the equivalent of when a character in your favorite show is replaced with another actor / actress. My Agent is a keystone to the story, he should be able to finish it til the end.
The mechanics behind it that I can just run the climax mission afterwards is to disrespectful players and to the overall story and the impact our Agent has made. If people want to make scout agents I'm okay with that, but veterans who are invested in not only the mechanics but also the story / lore of The Division should not be forced into this. Your arguments make no sense. This change also affects you as the player base shrinks, so does your audience.
Season characters are a waste of our time. I’m not going to invest my limited time into a character I’m being forced to abandoned next season. And it doesn’t matter if the crap transfers to my main character if my main character isn’t the focus of the new content anymore. Makes them and the progression essentially pointless.
If you’re saying that players don’t like it when the Devs nerf them, it makes no sense to force them all to be nerfed to level 1. It’s stupid to strip us of the power fantasy.
And when speaking about special drops; the drop means absolutely nothing once the season ends. Fleeting “joy.”
Only bright side: when this experiment inevitably doesn’t work, they won’t put it in TD3.

Firstly, I would seriously like to think people are not blaming Rogue for anything here. His video on Monday was the first i'd heard about this in better detail and I thought he sounded open, or 50/50, to the idea. That's perfectly reasonable as a vlogger and I respect that entirely.
The issue I have with S2.0 is that, I don't see point. What point is there in making a new character, levelling it, then for everything to be transferred to your main. What is the point??? it just seems illogical and stupid to me. I'd rather play seasons as it is now with my main because like many others the story interests me more than the actual dynamics of this five-year old game.
The recent season feels 'different and I cant explain what I mean but the spawns, locations of spawns and everything about it was exciting and frankly speaking challenged me. If it's not broken; don't fix it is in the motto and I've seen this example on many games over the years.
The dev team (to me) show a degree of unprofessional standards with how this went ahead and as far as I am concerned they are not producing what people want and need. I mean, expressions??? really?! of all the things we need in the game..... expressions!!!!!! get a grip guys because that is just garbage and if I produced that type of work I'd be asked serious questions.
Lastly, if they are looking for ideas.... why not open DZ to temporary instanced PVE dark zones in the seasons? this will appeal to many people as it's areas they simply wouldn't otherwise go to. They have a huge map with many under-utilised buildings which can also be used for story building missions. There's a lot there... but the garbage they are churning out now comes across as someone at 7pm on a Sunday night preparing a presentation for Monday morning.
That's my opinion at least and as a day 1 player i've never felt this distanced from those who run this game as I do now. I hate saying it but the writing to me looks to be on the wall. I hope i'm wrong.

I will still disagree that seasonal characters are a good thing. I believe it is 100% a Ubisoft business decision rather than a game designer decision. This opens up the game for more MTX other than just outfits. Look at the boosters and stuff you can buy in XDefiant and Rainbow Six: Siege. I still do believe that having seasonal characters essentially does make your main character worthless. In Path of Exile there is simply no reason to log onto the non-seasonal permanent league and play any of your characters, the whole point is to keep you playing the new season with the new mechanics. Div 2 isn't introducing anything new mechanics-wise with seasonal characters. There's no deep crafting system to interact with and make broken and hilarious items. All that directives do is simply add some more xp. This is ramble-y but the point is nothing new is actually being added except locking story content behind a character you only play for 4 months.

Thank you for clearing things up a little bit. It did seem that you favored this idea on Monday. I am Div 1 original player from when the division came out in beta. The only thing I don’t understand is that Massive Entertainment knows we the old veteran community are very vocal about changes on systems that they created. And as you know there are two groups here. PVE and PVP, they do not like to say anything that would be coming down the pipeline. But what motivated them to talk about this in that type of format. I just see a big disconnect from the old days Div 1 and the earlier days of Div2. Before they seemed so happy to reach out to us weekly and monthly and they would want to investigate any issues quickly because it was a priority. Now it seems like they drag their feet and it’s seems that they talk to us because they have to not because they want to. And if that’s the case Then just say that their will be no more future updates for this game we are moving onto division three will see you in two or three years. I would be happy with that.

I think a lot of it simply comes down to funding and resources. Even in departments like Communications and PR- the game simply has a fraction of the people and tools that it had back when Ubi was pumping money into TD1's post-launch and TD2's production, etc. Hopefully by the time we reach TD3 things might feel closer to those days in terms of the consistency of everything 👍

It's a bit of a weird situation going on right now. All of my mates are keen on a fresh grind, wiping the slate clean with a new start with seasonal chars. With this not only do we get to experience a fresh take on a game we already love playing, but there also comes a plethora of different ideas that could potentially take this game way passed it's intended lifespan. ie. having a seasonal stash - meaning creating multiple seasonal chars gives you the chance to run daily/weekly content multiple times to farm materials/gear/weapons that, if need be, can be transferred between seasonal chars. Another example would be adding seasonal leaderboards, who could take on the toughest content and come out alive, or with the best time, whether it be solo or with a group. Having the option to run a 'hardcore' seasonal char where death is permanent. Just a few ideas on the top of my head. But you can see why seasonal content will expand on the games longevity. I know this ain't for everybody, but for me. I can't wait

I do not want to play Descent nor do I want to play a seasonal open world Descent mode. I do not want to use a secondary character as a mule for my main character...ever. I have developed a play style for a specific gear set and weapons...a play style that I have perfected. Now, at the beginning of every season, I will have to toss that play style to ride the mule. If I don't, then I won't be able to fully enjoy the content that I have enjoyed in past seasons. Here is my official response to all of this. Developers...f*ck off! I only make seasonal characters in a game like Diablo because of the different classes or major changes to gear and skills to try. I do not share your optimism. These developers do not deserve the benefit of the doubt. We have played recycled content for YEARS with some of the worst communication possible. After years of time dedication and grinding their solution is to just reset that and yes force you to play the story/season with a zeroed out character. Even your own example of the “new” seasonal content is the same CP,Bounty Hunt and Mission we’ve been doing for YEARS.

Seasons 2.0 best change they have ever brought into the game. Seasonal wipes should've been in the game since the very first season. Most of us haven't had any type of grind in over two years. Nothing in the game renders any challenge because so many of us have had maxed out builds for years.
Not only that, too many players have a surplus of materials, resources and extra gear that none of these have any value because we have so much of it. Players will actually have to out in the world to gather resources for their builds. Open world activities, loot drops, daily/weekly project, clan projects, clan activities will all have value to them because of the rewards they have.
The Division 2 is far my favorite game I have ever gotten into, the only game where I played over 3k hours, but the truth is, with how the game currently stands, regular seasonal wipes need to happen. Plain and simple.
Whether or not people see it now, seasons 2.0 will feel like an entirely new game; a fresh and new experience for veteran players as well as being more appealing to newer players because they will no longer be so far behind.

And when want to me challenged by the game I run HC mode (SHD 850). If you die and it was your fault you learn. I will probably do the seasonal character for the story. But I'll be bitter that i don't get to decide who benefits shd wise my soft core or my Hard core Agent. It going to me hard to have to let one of them down every season. I really think it’s important to look at this in the context of this dev team we’ve all gotten to know.
Project resolve fixing thousands of bugs??.. I’m not seeing it! Also introduced a ton of bugs. They can hardly look at this game without breaking something.
Weapon rebalancing was pretty much a nothing burger.
    Specialization rework was abandoned.
Manhunts with lazily re skinned missions. Oh we’ll put the boss two rooms back this time. Even cut scenes and audio logs are usually pretty uneventful.
Lazy implausible retcon bringing Keener and Theo Parnell back.
This game is a training course for junior developers, train them on Snowdrop, get them used to a live service game. It’s definitely the B-team.
Anyone expecting great things from them is going to be disappointed.

    1. Yeah, people are overly reactive about changes to the game. So we need a "state of the game" like they used to have to communicate the changes better. Even if it's a video vice a live stream, disable comments if things are too hostile. More communication would be better. I wonder sometimes what the game's community manager does.
    2. I'm concerned that the seasonal characters will just be a re-grind of the same old content (like doing a regular old DUA during the Y6S1 first manhunt).
    3. I believe the jist of the reaction to this change is: players don't want to regrind old content for the same stuff again. They want to grind new content for new stuff. Given the fact that D2 didn't get any time until the post show of Ubi Forward, that's not gonna happen.
    4. I like the emphasis on the story, so I'll hang out to get the comms. I just hope if I get to kill Keener again that this time he stays dead.
