Advanced Tie Dye Pattern: LIGHTNING BOLT

This video shows you how to tie and dye the Lightning Bolt pattern.
1. Shirt is soaked overnight in soda ash and spun out in a washing machine.
2. Flatten shirt. Draw pattern on front of shirt.
3. Pleat along the lines and bind.
4. Dye along lines to form outline of the bolt.
5. Dye the inside of the bolt.
6. Dye the rest of the shirt.
7. Flip shirt and repeat steps 4, 5, and 6.
8. Let cure for 24 hours at 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
9. Open piece and wash in washing machine. Two cold cycles and one hot cycle. You can put newly opened tie dye in the same wash or use old fabric (I use old towels if I only have one or two new tie dye pieces).
10. Hang dry.
