Hope y'all have lots of fun with this one!!! I was thinking out loud SO MUCH and my brain was going everywhere. I can't wait to dig a little bit more into what it all means that Harbinger has clearly had his eyes on Shep for 2 years (that we know of 👀). Also - I know some of y'all are gonna have some thoughts about the weapon choice I make at That One Part™ but I don't want you to worry that it's because I didn't know better 😉 First playthrough means picking whatever I gravitate toward! 😄 P.S. apologies for any of my allergy sniffles if any of them snuck past my editing 💛
Also ren you are not alone my friend I have mental health problems to so you are not alone I've been taking pill since last December to help me through it so I am here if you need any comfort ☺️❤️🩹
Glad you're doing fine 👻👍 We all need some time outs once in a while, as an introvert I can say - alone time is ZE best time😶🌫 Also, don't think it's a spoiler, just to connect some story points, or to sum up the collector ship mission. Basically it means this is the exact ship that destroyed original Normandy two years ago (when Shep died), and it is indeed the same ship you encountered on Horizon (that's the mission when you met Kaidan). Peace out ✌
Always having fun with your vids. You don't have to apologize for sniffles, we are all human 😁Also, as someone who struggle with mental health I just want to add, mental health matters ❤🤙
No apologies for offbeat choices on a first blind playthrough! You don't know nothin, how could you predict what you need? That's the beauty of Mass Effect, the first two or three plays are just to learn the game so you can build your perfect playthrough later. I'm on fifteen plays and I'm still learning new things! 😁
1:16:22 Samara said the condition manifests at maturity. So, the way I understood it, she had all 3 of her children before her first-born reached maturity. So then, she found out that they all had it.
1:25:41 "What's the right decision?" I've said this before, but it bears repeating: in Mass Effect, if the game gives you options and asks you to make a choice, it is neither right nor wrong, it is merely a choice. You'll sometimes see comments from people that certain decisions are better or worse, but I disagree that it's an objective matter. When you know the game really well, there will be choices that you *prefer* because they are optimum *for you,* but the joy and discovery of this trilogy is exploring all those decisions and their multifaceted outcomes. So don't sweat it. Mass Effect is a sandbox you can play in over and over again.
Plus, the assault rifle is going to work well with her play style. Getting your own feel for what you enjoy and how you enjoy a sandbox game is at least as big as getting through the story.
Thank you. Someone who gets it. I've seen a bunch of playthroughs of these games and the comment section always dictates how someone should play. They say when they should do certain missions and what choices to make. It's annoying. I've even seen youtubers replay certain levels to make the "right" decisions. I tell youtubers to just play the game THEIR way. Otherwise they may as well look up a guide online. And I tell commenters to let the youtuber make their own choices. If they want to see certain outcomes then they should just play the game themselves.
Ren, THANK YOU for talking about your mental health. We're still living where a lot of people think it's something we need to hide and keep private, and the more people who are comfortable about talking about it, the better it is for everyone.
Sorry you’ve had a rough couple of months mentally, I’ve been on the same boat for that time too. You’re a vibrant, charming, clever and warm person who has made a lot of people happy through sharing your company & thoughts through your videos, definitely someone to look up to. And it’s great that you’re normalising speaking about things like this too, seeing someone as impressive as you speaking about such feelings definitely helps quash the stigma. I hope you get back what you put out, because you give so much positivity with what you do
There are certain roles that actors take that impact how I see them in real life or even in their other roles, like Billy Bob Thornton in Season 1 of Fargo or Jake Gyllenhaal in Nightcrawler. The Illusive Man did that to Martin Sheen for me. Any time I see an interview with him or he shows up in another movie/show, I'm side-eyeing him REAL hard. 😂
I think Miri has a hard time distrusting The Illusive Man because he basically rescued her, chose her over her father's money, and gave her the freedom to be her own person rather than her father's scion. WE know he's a manipulative bastard, so he's probably been manipulating her, too.
Glad you're enjoying it! Never worry about taking care of your health first! The collector ship mission is a great one with that Prothean revelation and all. Can't wait to watch you have fun building the rest of the team!
Thanks for the mental health update at the beginning, Ren. I hope you know that you have fans that love your content. I've been on the struggle bus mentally myself since January due to a surprise layoff. Sometimes it's reassuring to hear that others deal with issues too and that I'm not completely alone. Love the mass effect vids and thank you for continuing to upload these!
Thanks for sharing and I agree 100% - it's always good to get into the Mass Effect Universe and you sharing your story and playthrough helps me and I'm sure many others! 👏🏽 🙌🏽
Mental health is important, take care of yourself! The derelict ship mission is pretty important information wise, it explains a lot of stuff about the reapers, even some questions that haven't been asked yet.(Future Ren will definitely call back to this mission hehe) Don't worry about the weapon choice, unless you're a super close-up shooter/sniper the AR is a safe bet!
The weapon choice is exactly personal preference: you choose between the best weapon in the game for your class (the shotgun in your case) and widening the available weapons in your class. There are no wrong options.
I _highly_ recommend Heavy Charge the moment you can. Being able to give yourself full shields back whenever you charge is central to the majority of Vanguard playstyles.
Hey! Great seeing you back, Ren! Was worried something had happened; sorry to hear that you've been having a hard time the past couple months. I hope whatever has been causing you to feel stressed or depressed, be it something specific that happened or life drudgery in general, that it feels a little more manageable. Not sure if the creepy Collector mission was the best mission to welcome you back, if you were looking for something light and fun to take your mind off things, but was glad to see you get through it and hear your reflections. Looking forward to seeing you hang out with Thane more. He's great. As for the bonus weapon choice, all a matter play style with each class. If I remember correctly, my Adept took a sniper rifle for occasions when I wanted him to hang back and provide support with Singularities. My Vanguard took an assault rifle because with that class you're not playing long-ranged, but you don't necessarily want to always go charging into point blank range either. Infiltrator took the Widow, an exclusive model sniper rifle available as a class unlock. I forget with the others.
Perfect timing, deciding to take a break from playing the Resi4 remake and this just came at the right time 😌 more mass effect woo! Happy Friday Ren! Hope you have an awesome weekend! 🙏
I forgot if you mentioned it before but have you played any of the Resi games before? Love for you to tackle some of the resident evil games on the channel at some point 🙏think it will be lots of fun hehe
So i've played these games more times than I can count. ME is my all time favorite. I've played the vanguard several times. It's my favorite class to play. I like how dynamic vanguard is. Charge plus shotgun blast to the face or charge and melee are very satisfying. So I've chosen the AR, the shotgun, and the sniper at different times. That AR can also be very useful with charge. The sniper rifle can be used by Garrus and Thane. The AR can be used by Garrus and Ashley/Kaiden and Zaeed. The shotgun can be used by Grunt and Tali and Jacob. So sometimes my choice is less about what my Shepard would use and more about if I want to give the weapon to companions. But regardless which class I play, the choice varies all the time. I liked how you began the episode with a well thought out plan of action and gave reasons for which things you wanted to do first. And I thought "uh-oh". So that was pretty funny. Oh, and I wanted to mention... in a previous episode you were commenting on Tali's "Go for the optics!" line when she uses her attack drone. This is one of two references to a particular character from Baldur's Gate. The other reference is your space hamster. In Baldur's Gate, there is a companion named Minsc who has a "miniature giant space hamster" named Boo. During fights he will yell "Go for the eyes Boo!" th-cam.com/video/X8lLruVR2zQ/w-d-xo.html
You should take Grunt more often. He's a tank and very effective in combat. Plus he always has some funny lines. You're the first one I saw who never took him on any mission since he was recruited. This one was tailor made for him. Just an observation, nothing negative. Great playthrough, as always.
I always am an Ingiltrator, so I always choose the sniper rifle as it gives you the Black Widow which is the strongest Snuper Rifle. It makes me happy to get that.
I haven't even watched the video yet, and still think it has possibly the most accurate title of and YT video ever, Mass Effect, gaming, or otherwise. The Illusive Man is the worst!
I hope you feeling better now the great things about gaming is that makes us able to disconnect from bad things going on in our daily life's a for a few hours we are just able to disappear for a bit. Awesome playthrough i believe you already saw but garrus has a nice alternate silver Outfit without blast damage from the explosion from his recruiting mission i believe that outfit is his more iconic look . looking forward for the next upload stay safe and strong ok

The Illusive Man excuse, about letting Shepard go blind is a issue with the writing, to not the character. Where as in most cases, the game gives us the impression that he is hyper competent, and almost omnipotent, here it gives the impression he is making an already risky mission even more risky for seemingly no good reason. But the game seems to imply the contrary, when even Mordin who is seemingly the most logical and probably most brilliant member of the crew, comments about the whole ordeal, that it was "a necessary risk". Suggesting that it was in fact the right decision, and not some sort of betrayal. However saying as though it would somehow "tip-off" te Collectors is a stretch. That would suggest that either there is a traitor on the ship (or at least a risk that there is), or that there are some sort of listening devices on the Normandy. Alternative suggestions that perhaps Shepard of other members of the crew (who have military background), would just blab out mission critical info is ridiculous. Perhaps not everyone can be trusted, but not professionals who know what is at stake. Even if we talk about body language of the people o the ground crew, being a problem, TIM could have simply not told them. It would be infinitely more believable if some people, or at least someone on the crew would be informed it was a trap, or at least probably a trap. In that case someone could make preparations for what happened (e.g. the Collector Ship activating and almost destroying the Normandy again). The reason this was not the case, was because the writers wanted to have a shocking twist, where the crew and the player feels betrayed. But there are plenty of ways, in which (with a little thought), they could have achieved mostly the same thing, without making TIM seem like a reckless idiot. Emphasize the possible issue of infiltration of the Normandy, and op-sec. Chose a trusted party to divulge information too, and to prepare (could be EDI, Miranda, Jacob, or even Shepard etc.) It was even possible to play with perspective, where Shepard learns the information of screen, so that the player is still surprised.
Hhhhrrrk not a command or anything just an excited comment - I wish you were an internet slug like us i wanna see what happens next far too quickly LOL be really careful about getting stuck in the end-game if you go too far into the IFF stuff cuz then you won't be able to do everything or get whoever you want to be loyal. it's worth noting because who knows when you replay it or w/e its more fun to see all the main stuff first run
This part I am interjecting, personal health, I am dealing outside ugh VGing, but my God dear, don't talk like that again. Seriously, be who you are. If I can a hand on your shoulder, it is. You are too lively, just calm emotions, and enjoy the wave in the ME experience, Deeply troubled the intro video, just don't!... unsure if I heard correctly... honestly, feel the same way, just don't lady. I honestly feel the same, yet my parent, am Godfather, and ingrained in a large family, okay going that far off, I think,, just relax.
One another note, if you're that depth of mentality, what keeps me is family. This extremely worrying if I'm reading things right, but I will admit about Renwraiths, hope I'm paranoid, but I do give a shit for others.
Ren try to get all the loyalty missions done before u get to the point of no return illusive man is bad about locking u into missions bc he is a bastard 😂😂

SAMARA SUPER MOMMY 💀 I mean, you're right 🥺
to watch ren playing is much fun , than playing myself again ¡
As far as the weapon specialization, my Vanguard run always picks the Claymore. It hits like a truck.
She's not the close-combat, shotgun type. Vanguard was the wrong choice for her.
