In Chiapas, we usually eat the platano frito with fried beans, and not as a dessert. I actually enjoy having my platanos fritos with cream, Chiapas cheese and some green salsa.

@@TrueMexico well, from what l remember, in England 'ice cream' means 'milk based frozen dessert'. Both nieve and granita are water based. That's why l felt like specifying. (PS: l lived in the UK for 11 years and l could ve wrong, of course, but that's how l remember it.) 😊

Other "desserts" that are common here are sweet corn tamales and "bollitos de piña" which are sweet tamales filled with pineapple jam. And one representative dessert of La Antigua a municipality of Veracruz are "cocadas", which are sweetened baked coconut balls, they're soooooo good. Here at the north we hardly see platanos machos or pastes, but the churros are a must and the nieve too. Here in Mty we have something called "Yukis" that is like shaved ice with flavor syrup (vanilla, tamarind, strawberry, etc) Also in many "mercaditos" we find frappes a lot, there is at least one or two frappe vendors in the mercaditos I know.
And of course, the pan dulce, we have the panadero truck pass by our homes daily and the bread is delicious!

My first Cornish Pasty was in Mexico just outside of Pachuca (I actually went to the UK in April and missed my opportunity to try them so I was very excited when they were in Mexico when I visited last November). Now I know Paul didn't highlight this fun fact but it was thanks to the Cornish miners that football is a big deal in Mexico. The first ever team was in Pachuca. So on top of delicious pasties, the British also brought sport to Mexico and well, the rest is history.

Tío Paul. Marquesitas are a unique kind of dessert in south east Mexico. Look images up. They are kind of like crepes, but not exactly. Imagine an ultra thin ice cream cone in the shape of a crepe. The traditional filling is grated cheese, which melts inside the marquesita, but lately other fillings have become popular, namely cajeta, or nutella. Once the marquesita has been cooked, it's made into a roll which becomes solid enough as an ice cream cone, only thinner, and the filling is added. Scrummy!

Im from Chihuahua at the north of Mx, and just this Sunday I tried for the first time the Platano macho frito, but it was in 'chips' presentation, like papitas fritas, even including a small salsa package. I absolutely loved them! Although our bananas may taste different then the southern ones...

Churros. I used to work at this store in downtown San Francisco CA. and we would see the churro guy pass by with this giant tray piled high with his homemade churros. Wow they were far superior to any churro I had before. We couldn't wait to see him. I bet the ones in Mexico are even more delectable.
