My authentic orchestral instrumental karaoke (no voice) rendition of "On My Own" from Les Miserables. I am a composer and producer who creates music for film and television. I enjoy producing the most realistic sounding renditions of orchestral music. This version of "On My Own" is incredibly authentic and has an absolutely realistic orchestral sound. Broadway / recording quality.
The song begins with authentic orchestral sounds, but there are a few sections in the score that call for the use of a "synthesizer" keyboard pad sound. Specifically heard as the underscore behind the first verse of the main song "On my own, pretending ..." etc. This is intended to sound synthy, and the real strings come in at the second verse.

This is so beautiful. The strings in the second verse are stunning, and I really like the brass toward the end. Magnificent job. This is easily the best "homemade" orchestral karaoke of this song--or any--song I've ever heard!
maybe i'm not singing fast night, or maybe i'm dragging out my notes too much, but i can't quite keep up with this version. it still sounds really nice though!

really if u really try your best and practice I promise u, u will slay that part
try singing it 'naan' and adding the own on the end to close it off. I had that problem but my vocal coach taught me that sneaky trick! Give it ago and let me know :) x

I like to use this song to look back on how far my voice has come. When I first tried it, I could only really sing in head voice because I hadn’t done much singing before, but now I can belt the top notes without too much trouble :)

After belting this out, and A Long A He Needs Me and The Wizard and I and I'm Not That Girl, I was able to get into my high register. Looks like I may be able to play Glinda after all.

this is a little fast, but overall i love it! and for all of you who are scared about the high notes, i was too. i couldn't even get past the "im talking to myself..." part without cracking, but now i'm able to sing it all, including the "known" at the end. all i did was keep trying trying trying, and my voice adapted!

I know this is kind of late but I would suggest using mixed voice for "pretend" and "known" rather than purely head or chest voice.
@@IrisSnowHeyy, I know this comment is years old but do you have any tips on how to practise the mixed sound? I always try to use my chest voice and try to press it out which works but is kinda unhealthy so I wanted to ask if you have any good excersises because I always struggle with this particular sound...

First, I failed from "And I know, It's only in my mind", but now I only fail at some notes (Pretending and Known in the last part) and I find some notes difficult.

For me is very difficult to belt the low note

well you shouldn't ever "belt" anything..... If you are unable to take it where written then consider the octave, or raise it to the third or 5th of the chord, it will work quite well.
I don't think it's necessary to belt a low note. I mean, gosh it's low note may be the "known" part.
There are many ways to climb to "pretending" and actually plateau out on that word that sound really nicely done.

I have sung this song many times because I love it. This video is awesome and so the music is perfect. Just have to know "when to come" in at the start. Otherwise, singing it just gets better and better.

This song reflects my life, I sing this song & cry, my best friend Bernie, has a girlfriend named Sydney, ever since he met her, he acted like I was invisible, I walked in the streets at night, all alone, with no one to comfort me, some times I think of Bernie, & it warms me, I know that he is blind, but I still say, there's a way for us, my entire life I thought a knight in shining armor would come & sweep me off my feet, & take me to his dream Castle.

Huh.strange because I actually think it goes a liiiittle too slowly?? I downloaded it and bumped it up to 1.1x speed and its more comfortable for me.
I prefer this tempo. I had a very wise teacher once tell me not to treat On My Own like a ballad. The uptempo makes all the difference.

Yes! I've seen and heard the original stage version and it wasn't this fast -- it's a song of longing and jealously -- some of the parts are slower, like when she's self-reflecting.
