Sorry for the late reply! Honestly, I have an iPhone so not sure but all the plug is for is power when the jeep is off. It was originally intended to use a flat tow setup but I abandoned that idea and stuck with using my trailer. Great question though!
Yeah, it happens here too. I actually took it on our trip to Sand Hollow, trails near Phoenix and Sedona, and now Lake Havasu and it’s far enough over the dash even in blazing sun and 100 degree temps that it does pretty well. I can even angle my vents up at the phones a bit. Hasn’t been too bad. One overheated phone so far haha 😂

I like your addition, but can't use that in the south. Too much direct sunlight overheats everything. 😮😅

Did you end up using the adhesive tape or did it stay tight and no rattles?
It stayed tight, no rattles at all!
