This is a great plugin!!! If one knows the tonal character they are trying to achieve within their recording, this is an excellent tool to help them get there. 🙂❣
I’m starting to get the impression this is just like adding a little salt to your potatoes. You can hear obvious boosts in the high end practically every example that’s given. He keeps talking about separation, but I think the word he’s looking for is “clarity“. I want to be able to hear every instrument in the mix clearly, every little nuance of it, and yet have it blend with the other instruments at the same time. That’s not an automatic process that you can just push a button and turn a knob. I guess if you’re in a hurry, and you do this for a living, you would want to take a shortcut, and this is probably a pretty good one. For me, I’d rather take the time and do it right.
This seems a worthy tool, no doubt. Approaching any arrangement musically first (you can only hear so much at once) will certainly help to avoid this circumstance. Filling up all the spaces will rob dynamics (I'm certainly guilty) and breath until mixing = massive muting to remedy the congestion. Space. The primal frontier.
For $40, that's pretty damn worth it. But, I find most of the time with masking issues like this, making broad manual EQ cuts or even muting tracks in the arrangement can be a better solution than a fancy plug-in.
Thanks for the video! When using the sidechain feature, is the plugin dynamically ducking resonant frequencies that are native to the original instrument, within the broad EQ profile generated by the side-chained instrument? Or is it using the real-time EQ response of the sidechained instrument to duck those excact frequencies in the original track? If that makes sense?
Hi....I have a query....I am facing only one problem with this plugin.... Normally the change while sidechain is very suttle, so I am not getting an idea of how much Threshold shall I use....is the Learn curve enough or shall I bring down the threshold more for a prominent difference ? Theres also no number that shows the reduction, like other compressors....Could you please help me in this matter, may be with some mixing trick ar any other way ? Thank you for your lovely videos....I learn a lot about mixing from you....Looking forward for your reply.....
Regarding your first question: Yes, definitely, adjust the main knob (the threshold) - the more you take it down, the more reduction you will get Regarding seeing the reduction: Please consult the blue scale on the left of the frequency analyzer window, you can see exactly just how much reduction occurs in any frequency. Is there Mid-Side option in this plugin? In your example (lead VOX + BG Vox) it was ok to carve out the whole stereo field. But if there is only lead VOX I would like to carve out only mid. In that case Sooth 2 might be more flexible.
Hey i bought the plugin and im super satisfied about it, but there is one problem. The sidechain tool doesnt work in fl studio. When i click the monitor audio button i can hear the audio from for example the lyrics, but the learning tool told me its waiting for audio signal. So it doesnt work. Do you have a hint for me what could be the problem? Thx :)
Hey, unfortunately it's kinda complicated in FL and it doesn't work reliably at all. For example, if you want to sidechain the kick to a bass, you will route the kick to the bass mixer track only from the mixer. Then you will add Equator on the bass. Mute the bass from the channel rack, and turn on the sidechain button in Equator and hit learn. After learning is done, press on apply. Then reroute the kick to the master again. This is the only workaround that I figured out; however, you can't use the ride option since you're receiving audio from the kick in realtime, you've just draw a curve to use and that's it.
Bro why is it every time that if I want to watch a mixing tutorial that every time someone is mixing a bunch of acoustic drums and a couple of guitars? arent there any other instruments you guys can't find? Strings or Orchestral Sounds for example or Synths?
Doubt it, this is linear phase, 10 of these in a mix you will need an i9 processor and not use Ableton ! Each one of these will add 20 ms of delay to a soundsource.
The rider function is really useful, but sometimes completely unusable because the release time is simply too long. This often results in noticeable volume fluctuations within the sidechained material. There should be a feature allowing us to adjust the attack and release times of the rider function. Then it would be really, really good. As it stands, it’s unusable for our typical workflow with clients, especially since we’ve already received several complaints from them regarding this issue.
@@RadiumRecordsHollywood dosent work when rider is on. Cause the processe when the rider turn up the signal when no sidechain singal coming in, can't be modify
What horns and strings vst is that? those horns sound nice, I think it's great for the price, interested to see what the other two plugins are going to be like they bringing out as part of the EQ plugins.
@@RadiumRecordsHollywood Fair. It looks like a decent plugin. But I have things that do it already that have already been discussed. The one that hasn't is arrangement. A great arrangement will lessen the need for unmasking because it has us asking "Why are you putting the same notes with the same timbre and spectrum on top of each other bruh?" And the video editing almost gave me a seizure.
Awesome thanks just what I needed!

No doubt about that... First rule of a great mix = Great arrangment!
Nice wrap-up there.
Nice to see the vocal pop out of the mix so easily, I wonder how good it sounds on "Bass" instruments...
It does really well on bass stuff, I use it on trap mixes to tame 808 issues...
LOVE IT! #ThatsMyWord
Yee!
Very good track very good plugin.
Hey! Cheers!
How does this compare with Trackspacer (in the sidechain vocal to carve space example) ?

Well... I think this is much more fun. Also, this plug uses linear phase so it's really good at not adding phase shifting like most eq's do.
I made de right choice!
Cheers!
Dana Carvey is back! party time! excellent!
Party on Wayne!
when you create a node > is it possible to "SOLO" it to - for example - sweep the frequency spectrum to detect resonances? Thanks!
Just solo out the band, but the plugin is super good at finding resonance.

MS too
Absolutely! Also a L/R split function.
Do I need this if I already have Trackspacer and Soothe2 and Fuser? I think I have all of these type of plugins so far 🤣🤣

A little bit sc-comp would do also the trick with any daw compressor.
Not as well as this... Give it a shot and A/B it, then let me know.
Is this on the mix or master
Is there a live version coming out?
We are working on a very low latency version of the plug-in :)
Does this do mid/side??;

@@jasoncruizer You've tested that or just speculating?
How does it work? It’s more than an eq curve right?
Curves Equator is a smarter resonance suppression plugin. Feel free to watch this video for more information: th-cam.com/video/Ved7WjXhiqY/w-d-xo.html
The only feature i miss is a solo band in the cross over interface.
