Saltwater Vertical Jigging For Whatever bites

Tried a bunch of different stuff to find the fish, but we soon found they were right under our feet. Vertical jigging got us on a bunch of cool species as well as some fish to fry.

I ended up doing more research on the weakfish I was catching in this video and I figured it was worth sharing. Although we were technically correct in calling these weakfish, they are not the same species that the FWC has regulations for. The FWC has regulations on the Common Weakfish (Cynoscion regalis), a species of weakfish more commonly found on the Atlantic coast of Florida. The fish we caught were Sand Weakfish or Sand Trout (Cynoscion arenarius). Unlike the common weakfish, the Sand Weakfish is an unregulated species in Florida. There are more species of weakfish that call Florida's waters home than some of us might think, so why not get familiar with them.

A catch and cook is definitely something I need to do. I love to cook, so I’m a bit surprised myself that I haven’t made one yet.
