I think Eddy is cool, but I feel like capoeira is at an unfortunate disadvantage because of how it’s implemented in Tekken. I think dance fighting can definitely work because you have characters like Manon or Elena who do it very well, but I think it works for them better than Eddy because their movesets are shorter and more expressive. Eddy’s moves are flashy, but they also look similar to one another, which makes it harder for people to understand which of the 80+ attacks he’s doing. Karate, Judo, Wing Chun, all of these are easier to read.
Man, I barely holding myself back from insulting you for such hard case of framing. Sorry, but spending less then a minute to say about MAIN reason why Eddy is hated feels like hard-coping. The fact that he is DLC IS the main reason for such hate. And having an option to "lab" him only in replays is not even close enough for redemption. With character like this you either give him obvious weakness that does not require labbing, or you DO NOT release him as a DLC. Or you actually give an access to him IN TRAINING. Otherwise he is an example of straight Pay2win character, and no measure of how weak he is on a PRO level compensate for it. And it's not about his unique style. In T7 people tolerated Eddy way more. And Hwo in T8 is also a pain in the neck to deal with, yet somehow people hate Eddy more, so maybe there's another decisive factor here, don't you think?
@@artsq1550I don’t think Eddy being DLC is the reason for the hate. Lidia is DLC and I haven’t seen anyone hate or even mention her after she released. Could it be the heat system? Either that or it could be the fact that stances in Tekken are stronger as a whole.
Under normal circumstances I would tell people to learn the matchup, but Bamco not letting you even study a character during replays unless you paid for them is so incredibly scummy and needs to change.
@@xodiac-gg7049I actually think all characters should be playable in training mode. You can't use them anywhere else, but you can actually play them and decide if you'd like to actually play them more
Not being able to lab characters without buying them is scummy and really hurts the online experience. Thats true for every fighting game with DLC characters, but matchup knowledge is particularly important in Tekken. They're basically telling the playerbase that they have to pay extra for a character they might not even care about, just so they won't get stomped by said character online.
This was a major reason why I loved the older version of MultiVersus, and why it hurt so much when they turned it into the money pit that it sought out to destroy.
You still can learn him. Anyone has access to internet and TH-cam. I bet that already exists a lot of guides how to beat Eddy or any other characters. Of course, not having direct access to learning tools is suck and Namco deserve huge fist up their ass, but let's be honest - it's just an excuse. People can lab and have time for it. Most of them just don't wanna do it.
Good video but i think you really missed the point, Eddy isn’t shit because he is spammy, Eddy is shit because his spam looks SO ambiguous, his animations tell you NOTHING about how his move will act and they are at the same time so weird and same-y you just can’t distinguish them in match unless you have 5 years of experience fighting Eddy.
Good point. I always get bamboozled by low attacks where the character jumps up because in the rest of the game 70%-80% of the time jump moves are mids so Eddie is packin in that department
@@OblivionsAbyssThey’re only hard to read if you don’t know the matchup that was the whole point of the video lol. Almost every character is like that to some extent. It’s just hard to learn his matchup cuz of the pay wall
I think the main part that adds to the frustration/hate for Eddie is ironically the lack of eddies in matchmaking. You 100% have to put the time in to learn the MU but because most people have to and are probably too busy learning the MU’s of the rest of the more common nightmare characters like Alisa, Ling etc. They can’t justify putting the time in and I’m kinda in the same boat. Why learn the Eddie MU when I only see one once a week when I could lab king who I see every time I play? Like in this video it really is easier to just complain like I’m kinda doin right now lol. Eddie, Shaheen, and Zafina are what I like to call Taxes Characters because it’s easier to just avoid in ranked at all times because how little of them there are.
There are a couple of ways Eddy can get around it, but only the elite Eddy players know it, so it will work against mashy Eddy's, but much better ones, it won't
Yeah be careful with this one, handstand counter hit 4 2 , gives me a full combo, and if you start poking me out of my handstand I'm going to bait you with this one all day because I know you're just waiting to press when you see me getting in the stance
@@Oby1KaToby King is definitely a tough matchup for sure, most kings are very spammy, One of the things you can do is back 33 to stop his jab pressure, It's a counter hit launcher guaranteed if you get the first hit, once he starts to respect that, you can just range him out with your pokes
What i hate the most is that Eddy is so wildly different from his OWN gameplay in previous games. So even if you do know the matchup is tag2 or 7, you sure don't know it now. And this is clearly intentional cause Lidia and Heihachi are the same way, like bamco is forcing you to buy them just to not get steamrolled by the scrubiest players using them.
@@TheProswagonist nah forget about old eddy, this is a completely new character with kazuya size movelist, they cut off half of it and the other half is remade. I can tell you as a fact that no old eddy main likes this new capoeira character aswell
True. I spent lots of time labbing eddy and even played this character back in t7. I was doing good against t7 eddy, but in tekken 8 they changed him to a 3333...character and give him a scrubby low. I think t3 to t7 eddy is way skillful than t8 eddy. Eddy is just a completely scrub character in t8 and they made him braindead.
I hate eddy because I mained him on t7, he used to be a fundamentally solid evasive character with good mind games. Now he just is a mixup basic knowledge check character. He is basically the more normal version of whipping out the bears now, but then they made kuma tournament viable, after butchering such solid character
I think the common trend when he dropped is the people having the _MOST_ fun with him were _new_ Eddy players. Legacy players were struggling because we had to rewire from T7, if not basically EVERYTHING
Eddy has always been one of my Secondaries (along with Ganryu) so whenever I fight an Eddy I know what to do and what to expect I think playing a character you struggle against is the best way to learn their weaknesses.
Literally any character can be broken to a casual if they don't know the match up. Tekken is "Knowledge check: The game". JimMashima getting to orange doesn't speak much about Eddy's design. It speaks more of the players tbh
I totally agree! I've been an Eddy main since tekken 3, and its true that casual players hate facing him because they often don’t know how to counter his moves. But now that im in Tekken God rank, almost everyone I face is familiar with Eddy’s moveset, so I have to be super careful with every action, or I’ll get wrecked. finding a skilled eddy player at this rank is rare since so many of his moves are unsafe and easily countered.
When Tekken 3 came out, I was practicing both Eddy Gordo and Hworang moves at home and later these two got me into both capoeira and taekwondo for many years.
The best way to find out how to beat a character is to use the character. Practice using the character so you know the movesets. Then fight against the same character consistently so u know how to beat it.
I think the thing that contributes to all the gimmicky characters being so annoying is the ranked Bo3 structure (not to mention 1 and dones). In Tekken 7 you could playt 15 matches against the same dude playing the same character naturally getting used to their playstyle and movesets. This meant even if you didn't lab, you could still easily learn what X character can do and try out different things against them in a real match scenario. In Tekken 8 you play 2 games against Eddy, then you play 2 games against King, then a Reina player 1 and dones you, then you play against Eddy again but at this point you don't remember much from the last Eddy player you played so you kinda have to "start over" if that makes sense. Ironically this makes the learning process less casual friendly because the only way to get any idea about the matchup is to take time to lab a specific character (so yeah, you better buy that DLC)
I love eddy this is my first tekken and he is my main. Ive tried him in older tekkens and hes a lot harder imo in those. A character like alisa i think is harder in 8 than in past games, just less to think about in older games. Now she has a lot more good stuff, shes better, but a little more complicated. Now i think eddy is less complicated than previous editions. But im new to tekken and havent been playing for as long so i wonder what other people think
I really wish they would give people the opportunity to lab the character out honestly, I feel like it would make a lot of us, Eddie players so much stronger and help us justify buffs because he really does need them especially in those higher ranks. Also, to help the people in the comment section if he ever goes in a handstand he does not have a low in that stance unless he has his stocks so just block high and jab him out of it and it'll make his life that much more difficult.
Thank you for the respects ... I'm an Eddy main myself and I know that he is mid and a lot of people complain without labing the matchup .. I also play jin and drag and I'm not that high on ranked as I am with Eddy ... I really like the character ... He speaks to me
Likewise man, I'm one of the few legacy eddies that actually think he plays better in this game than any other game he's been in, He's unsafe as shit But just like other players have to lab him out to figure out the fake pressure, we have to do just as much work to make you respect our stances
Eddy is my main ,i think so, he has more unsafe moves than other characters but people always talk about 33 ,not think how it is hard with this character you would got god of destruction title
@@Suberi909 I definitely get where you're coming from. Even as a main, I wish he was easier to lab for free. You shouldn't have to pay to learn a character, I also think it's bad balancing that they're trying to cover up, because if you learn all of his fake pressure and what to look for, the Eddie player has to work five times harder to get anything going. You're literally rolling the slot machine at a certain point
I have to disagree with you, Eddy is stronger in this game than he was in t7, now he can guard when in negativa , he has +frames moves, his B1 4 3+4 is a counter hit combo that guarantees rlx 3+4 for more than 50 DMG out of a 13 frames move that tracks to 1 side, you can hit confirm B2 4 ,you can hit confirm b33 , his standing 4 has an extension. And he can actually sidestep, for me they really improved him , but he is still a little bit weak
What eddy lost from t7 1) Counter hits are gone. df2 counter hit 15 frame launcher - gone and now has worse tracking, ss2 counter hit launcher plus on block elbow completely removed, b33 is now confirmable yes but you cant really threat with finish string on block since its -15 and negativa now count as crouch so easy launch. 2) Evasive moves nerfed. db1+2 was save normal hit launcher, now only have guarantee throw. His sidestep move now -12 on block. ss3+4 now high with shitty hitboxes. All mid crushes on stances were removed completly, no damage scaling from stances. 3) Stances are butchered. You cant escape handstance fast, you can only escape into negativa. Handstance has zero mixup without charges (no low, grab is reactable). Handstane has zero mid crush moves. Negativa is now acts like crouching so all mids will hit you and launch you normally. You cant escape negativa fast like in t7. Negativa turned into hellsweep casino with risk reward highly not into eddy favour. In most cases simple backdash will completly neutralise negativa mix since hellsweep neads clean hit. 13 from negativa is not natural anymore. 4) Stances are butchered but game forces you into them. Running forces handstance, 10f punish forces negativa, 12f punish forces handstance, ff3 forces negative, uf4 forces negativa 5) Charges are useless. You dont have time to gather them and use in same round, it happens super rarely. The ways game want you to get charges are mid high string (usable only as whiff punish, but why i want to use it as such when i can use normal launcher, if you use it as it is - enemy ducks high and you die), using hellsweep from negativa (enemy block or use hopkick - you die), using mid mid from handstance (in which you dont wonna go anyway without charges, enemy has no reason to duck handstance without charges). Even concept of charges is forcing to enter handstance to mash mixup from it (both attacks stepable by the way and interruptible by fast attack, so all that hard work to farm to charges risking life actually gives you another shitty mixup locked behind stance). 6) A lot of moves eddy has times when he is in the air, hit burst in tekken 8 bound him during these moves and allows for full combo from enemy. Eddy is much weaker from t7, and the only way game wants you to play him is to mash mixes from negativa, forcing another mindless casino 8 50/50 playstyle which is boring and gives no satisfaction not for attacker and not for defending player.
@artembochkarev6285 great explanation of his new weakness. I'd add that in addition, the changes to his pacing and lack of move transitions is a significant factor in him being weaker. His moves no longer flow into each other and are now mostly weak strings. I also miss ss3*3+4, b3*f, and the old d1+2*1+2 headbutt. Just little cheeky round ending moves nobody thought about. His move list nerf in T8 is a goddam shame.
As someone who started playing Tekken as a whole in April (Eddy’s release month): I hated this guy. I eventually just started mashing in his face because I had no idea how to win with fundamentals. Nowadays, I do understand his options at a reasonable level and don’t get knowledge checked as much, but it’ll take a while for me to shake my negative feelings towards him
As an Eddy player since T3, I'm deliberately trying to mix things up. Nobody likes a spammer. I gotta say, figuring out more, I've had a blast on both ends: got epicly destroyed by amazing opponents and had some glorious wins as well 🙂 Wishing you all the best with the lab. You can do it! Can't wait to get epicly destroyed (again 😂)
If you been playing Tekken since Tekken 3 eddy should not be an issue for you ...if anything they should bring back tiger & christina Its not like Tekken isn't full of spammers anyway even the tournament players are spammers who play it safe that can execute combos better than the avg
Hi! I’m a first time Tekken player and an Eddy main. You’re right! I love him for his design and unique fighting style. As I’ve grown to understand the Tekken meta more and have learned just how “hated” he is, I’ve been shocked. I’m Bushin ranked and STILL get messaged for “spamming,” even though I haven’t spammed his 3,3,3 since my first week of playing him. People can’t seem to get it out of their heads that Eddy is much more than his 3,3,3, and, outside of lower ranks, it just won’t work. I have also come to learn just how suicide-y he is. Slow wind ups, extremely unsafe moves, and an over-reliance on stances make him feel super gimmicky. But, honestly, it’s his extreme mixup game that’s allowed me to flourish with him as someone new to the game. I’m not a Tekken pro at all. But what I AM good at after 25 years of gaming, is reading my opponents’ minds. And being able to condition my opponent and mix it up on them is what’s allowed me to succeed with him. I do feel I’ve hit a ceiling with him but that’s mostly because I’m not very good at sidestepping or knowing all the frame data. But I’m definitely getting there. As far as I’m concerned, if there are people reaching God of Destruction on a character (namely, ANY character), then I can too. And that’s why I’m fine with all the hate. I love Capoeira as a dance/martial art, and I’m gonna continue playing him :)
Eddy is a very weak character. People will complain about everything man. Every character will knowledge check you every time. King, Lily, Reina, Raven, Law, Claudio... each of these characters is way better and stronger and you also have to learn the matchup
@@Lay_rue442 Well that's the case with every DLC characters then, not only Eddy. Good luck playing a good Heihachi. Also, please don't act like there aren't billions of videos named "how to crush eddy in tekken 8". You just hating on a character
1. Ed is a knowledge check character, with a moveset based around being ambiguous. It's hard to learn how to face him if you can't lab against him 2. The characters you mentioned are free with the game. Even though they are much better, you can lab all of their options and learn how to deal with them. 3. Yes, it's an issue with all Dlc characters. But Ed being a knowledge check, aggressive mix character means you need to put more time into learning him.
Eddys animations are hella more confusing than anything these other characters do. It looks like a tornado of legs and arms it’s hard seeing what the hell is going on or will happen. That’s the problem with him, same with reina and hwoarang and lars. It’s not about punishing it’s about the damn animations that confuse people.
I mean I don’t find Eddy annoying that much, just do some armored mids or faster hitting mids most of the time and it just stops his flow. Like for example with King against him, just throw out the elbow and it will hit a decent amount of the time, or do the troll kick to power through it. If they catch on to you doing that and start doing lows more, it gives you time to parry his moves. Overall Eddie is not a hard character to go against, it’s just more finding like two moves that break his stances and than having to see how they react to not having those options easily available to them.
Eddy being a match up check is the biggest problem in mind. Knowing what to mash on, what strings aren't while also dealing with his evasive panic buttons means both you and eddy are guessing. Its frustrating playing a character that forces a lot of checks and attempting to manage risk reward when the character has stuff like u/f 1, b3+4, and SS3+4.
I've been using Eddy since he started in the franchise as one of my favs. He is unorthodox but real Tekken players should know how to go against him. I also use characters like Murdock and Lei who can also be unorthodox with their styles. I use to play . 50¢ at arcades with my crew and they would see me stomp other leaders of crews and I would laugh loud as hell while kicking their butts and they would get all mad. And out of my crew I was like the bottom of the skilled. I also use a bunch of other characters so kicking people's butts with Eddy is fun and also fancy 😎👍
It's his ambiguity. For any casual player that sees Eddy's movements, since forever, essentially - half his moves share very similar animations. If you don't recognize the start up of his attacks it just starts to took look like you walked into a washing machine filled with similar looking attacks that lead to ambiguous lows and overheads. Death knell for people unfamiliar with the character.
it's a simple principle, a character's frustration level equals the ease of using it divided by the ease of countering it. while it's actual power level equals it's reward gained divided by it's risks taken assuming both players know the moveset. eddy is so easy to use that a bot pressing 3 can cimb ranked and so hard to counter that you have to dedicate hours to studying him specifically. but assuming both players know the character his tools aren't actually good. ergo he's both complete cancer and terrible at high level. designer skill issue if you ask me.
Tbh I mained Eddy for a while in T7 and he was so fun to use. Half of the time, as the player you don't even know what he's about to do next, you just have to run with it 😭
I liked playing eddie back in the day because I usually sucked at fighting games and eddie was easy to do combos with which made me look good at the game when I really wasn't.... I have a feeling thats why a lot of people like him or used to play him a lot tbh
As a Eddy player, it is sad how risky and nerfed Eddy's move became in Tekken 8. Once everyone knows his moves he becomes harder to play with very limited safe moves.
I'm brazilian and as such I feel I've faced way MORE Eddies in the arcades. I must say, I loved it. A proactive character and I love Heihachi and Paul, so it was a real blast fo cace people who were NOT used to play counter attack focused toons. Now, this last Eddie iteration... cmon, what is that hair.
His place as capoeira fighter replaced by his sister in tekken 6 i think. I was always wondering did she replace him 1 to 1 or did they have slight differences in play.
Christie wasn't his sister, she was his teachers Granddaughter and his student. Yes, they were slightly different, she had a smaller hit box, shorter legs, different grabs, and couldn't walk in handstand. So when she appeared in T4 (not 6) she was a little weaker overall, but had a better throw game because of the way the other character landed vs follow ups.
Paul main here, absolutely hate playing against eddy. He has an insane amount of low and mid kicks so even if you try blocking down his mids will reach you
The only reason why I understand how to beat him is because I used to play Christine in Tekken 5 sometimes with my dad (or my sister played him). Honestly the subject of the video applies for me about Lydia and Heihachi because I never played any of them (I probably have to play Tekken 7 again because of the stupid system currently used)
It seems like Eddy the character was caught within the payment wall controversy storm this time around and that didn’t help. But Eddy is just like every other character at high play I feel like. When you get past Atleast Kishin, the knowledge checks for everyone starts to go out the window. It starts to become your fault if you fall for things that are out here, so for that, I do think he should openly labbable even as an Eddy main myself. I don’t play Eddy because he is a spammy knowledge check, I enjoy his spacing control, and his ability to control the pace of the fight. He truly is “rhythm” based. Eddy will always be my favorite character just because of who he is and his entire countenance/style. I really want Eddy to win more tournaments. Many Eddy players consistently have been ranking in the top lineup like jeondding and nomar, he’s a good candidate for a character due for a buff lowkey 🌚 i mean come on tiers aren’t everything but are we seeing this?!
So glad to see a content creator educate Tekken players on the fact that EDDY GORDO HAS BEEN NERFED TO MAKE IT MORE FAIR. Compare this Eddy to Tekken 3 Eddy. Tekken 3 Eddy is nearly unbeatable.
Eddie is just one of those characters that if you hate playing against it, then you just need to play it instead. Even if you don't become good at him, you will understand the limitations.
As someone who grew up with Tekken 3, I think the most infuriating thing about him was the fact that his dancing literally changed his hitbox, meaning you'd occasionally miss attacks that would've landed on other characters, which he could then proceed to punish you for. He had a random passive evasion ability built-into his core design in a fighting game - idk if he still sways back and forth enough to randomly dodge attacks, but it was supremely bs. Also I can't stand his new hair. Thank god his original is a cosmetic option, it's so much better.
Its not just the spammy-ness. It is how much of his kit is 360.... You cant sidestep and its hard to block his crap. The fluidity and always being in motion, much like the real martial art, makes him hard to know when you make the move. hes overwhelming.
I’ll be real when I say I think the biggest reason casual players hate him is because a vast majority of them never tried playing around his gameplay loop and try to brute force through it, that’s simply not how fighting games work. In most fighting games I play (Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, For Honor, etc), I always end up picking up my least favorite characters solely because it helps to learn the matchup. You’d be surprised how much insight it gives you. Eddy is surprisingly weaker than people give him credit for, and I feel if people practiced him a little bit, it helps you see what works with the character and how to counter them and use their struggles against them! Don’t lose hope people, just keep pushing, you’ll learn the matchup!! 👍🏼
I remember vividly, i beat up my 3 older brother with eddie back in 2003. I won 10000% and they got crazy mad, and i got beaten up after... Worth every bruise.
I tried Tekken 8 the other day. I hadn't played since 5. The first thing I experienced was Kuma hitting me with a robot fish. I decided that Tekken wasn't for me anymore. Still like the old games.
Sounds like a bunch of complaining and whining going on. What is it that Souls Game players say, very time they hear or read an easy mode being added to a game “then get better at the game”. Strategize better and understand Its Just A Game, geez.
Could you do a updated ranking of most cheesy gameplay? The characters that benefit the most from using a knowledge check gameplan these days. Realy liked your difficulty tier list, but though cheese and dificult influence each other, they aren't the same.
Been playing Tekken since '96 or whenever it came out, i was good with a lot of characters, but i started playing Eddy Gordo exclusively when i started practicing Capoeira in real life like 20 years ago. I lost all my ability to use other players over the years, but i understand the hate. I also hate Eddy players because most do not play him in a way a real Capoeirista would actually fight and move. But when i do fight one that moves realistically, ohhh man... Those are always save worthy fights 💯🔥🔥🔥
He’s definitely a tricky character but he’s not THAT much different from TEKKEN 3 & tag so if you have a clear understanding of his move set and stay low and on the offensive he’s manageable to beat.
Good video. I suck against Eddy, but I'm not going to purchase DLC just to lab him. Knowing some tekken fundamentals and getting beat up in matches helps figure out some of his stance options, so there's that. Never liked him, never seemed appealing enough to play as him. Welp.
He was hated back in the day because he was just organized chaos. Someone who never played before could just push buttons and do random unpredictable crap.
I’m an Eddy main and I have to say that the only people that think Eddy is broken are people that don’t have experience against him. When I play someone and I can tell they know nothing about him I steamroll them. If they are familiar with him though it’s very difficult some of his most important strings can be interrupted so easily without fail you just need to know how. His damage is also very low.
Wow, hold on, I agree with most of what you said, and it will be very difficult to win with Eddy if the opponent knows the match up very well, but Eddy's damage is NOT low. When Eddy gets you, either on counterhit or combos, he hurts like a mfer. Get a counterhit with Eddy and he does 50 to 55 damage with just 2 moves, that is almost a full combo. Eddy hurts, but will get punished just as hard if you are doing something wrong
@@Matt_UnderwoodI think it's just in comparison to the rest of the cast, he definitely hurts. In some instances I've been spamming down back 4 and it's the easiest 40 damage you'll get in the game and it's guaranteed. But it's not nearly as bad as Paul, Nina,or king . You guess wrong with one of those characters, and you're taking a ton of damage on top of a vortex
That's the main issue with Ed. He's a knowledge check character, you have to lab or play against an Ed long enough to learn. Which is fine, if I didn't have to pay $7 to lab against him.
Eddy Gordo has always been my main since Tekken 3, I would only use that spammy one-button combo move of his when someone is being a troll or is literally spamming one move. Also, yeah, I'm a casual player.

Exactly his animations are hard to read
Good point. I always get bamboozled by low attacks where the character jumps up because in the rest of the game 70%-80% of the time jump moves are mids so Eddie is packin in that department
The same thing can be applied to Hworang to some extent.
@@OblivionsAbyssThey’re only hard to read if you don’t know the matchup that was the whole point of the video lol. Almost every character is like that to some extent. It’s just hard to learn his matchup cuz of the pay wall
@jforgotten2620 bro he's not fun to fight I win 80% of the time most people suck at this game
If yall ever see Eddy go into handstand after you blocked his string, just jab. Or rage art, or heat smash. Damn near nothing he can do
Yeah man. Overhead kicks work as well. Eddy is all low moves
@newkeyo king is more of threat to me the Eddie any day of the week lol insta lost with king lol
What are you talking about he has all the same moves he did in the other games plus more
@@adamdaw5313 his movelist is 116. Used to be 170+
As also an Eddy main, I definitely miss the player creativity that he used to have
He was awesome in 7
@OctopusH2O An understatement. Peak. I want Ganryu back I gotta style on em.
@@jailbrokendsi7333 i want Lei,Bruce,Ganryu and Armor King
Eddy is reverse dragunov and both hated just at the opposite ends of the skill spectrum
"noone likes queing up for tekken" correct
Old Eddy players say he doesn’t feel like playing Eddy but I think he’s meh.
Nice to see JimMashima's 3ddy get a shout-out. That stream was peak entertainment.
Think a lot of people learnt how to deal with the 3 string through watching that stream.
I dont hate Eddie, i just hate his default corporate/Killmonger locks
Just left Brazil and that hairstyle is in style there now.
@PassportGang whyyyyyyyy?!!!😫😫😫

@@lorcan8484 Cry about it lol
Can we have Christie back now, Harada?
there are 3,3,3 reasons why peeps hate eddy, but what do I know
When Tekken 3 came out, I was practicing both Eddy Gordo and Hworang moves at home and later these two got me into both capoeira and taekwondo for many years.
The best way to find out how to beat a character is to use the character. Practice using the character so you know the movesets. Then fight against the same character consistently so u know how to beat it.
Good idea I noticed that when playing the same characters
As an Eddie user since the PS1, I appreciated this video
In other cases "people complain without labbing him" would be a sound argument. If you gotta pay to do that tho? Not so sound argument anymore.
As long as you're having fun playing the character the negativity from people shouldn't matter play whoever you want.😊
What eddy lost from t7
1) Counter hits are gone. df2 counter hit 15 frame launcher - gone and now has worse tracking, ss2 counter hit launcher plus on block elbow completely removed, b33 is now confirmable yes but you cant really threat with finish string on block since its -15 and negativa now count as crouch so easy launch.
Running forces handstance, 10f punish forces negativa, 12f punish forces handstance, ff3 forces negative, uf4 forces negativa
5) Charges are useless.
@@artembochkarev6285this man is spittin
@artembochkarev6285 great explanation of his new weakness. I'd add that in addition, the changes to his pacing and lack of move transitions is a significant factor in him being weaker. His moves no longer flow into each other and are now mostly weak strings. I also miss ss3*3+4, b3*f, and the old d1+2*1+2 headbutt. Just little cheeky round ending moves nobody thought about. His move list nerf in T8 is a goddam shame.
@@bbwolf326 yup for sure I hate it hopefully down the line they can show him some love
I gotta say, figuring out more, I've had a blast on both ends: got epicly destroyed by amazing opponents and had some glorious wins as well 🙂
Wishing you all the best with the lab. You can do it! Can't wait to get epicly destroyed (again 😂)

If you been playing Tekken since Tekken 3 eddy should not be an issue for you ...if anything they should bring back tiger & christina
Its not like Tekken isn't full of spammers anyway even the tournament players are spammers who play it safe that can execute combos better than the avg
Are you gonna do a video about Marshal Law?
All the other characters you mentioned you can learn the matchup, but you have to pay extra to practice against Eddy in this game. It’s bullshit
It's hard to learn how to face him if you can't lab against him

This character destroyed so many friendships in late 2000'😂😂😂
Low ranked players rarely do low-parry or even low block, and almost NEVER sidesteps, this is incredibly powerful vs Eddy.
Mixup characters that need matchup knowledge to even have a chance to win are more annoying than zoners.
I've never had issues beating Eddy, especially when I played as Law.
Sorry to break this to everyone, but this is what Capoeira is. It's a fighting style that is meant to confuse your opponent and keep them guessing.

T3 vet here. It was way worse back before TH-cam existed. I got my ass beat so much till I learned how to block him. Then he was free.
What makes a character hated? You know your opponent is a scrub but the character carries them with bs .

I thought people mostly hated the fact that he went from a guy who dressed in a Brazilian flag outfit to "we have Killmonger at home".
Capoeira is indeed highly unpredictable
Its the haircut that does it for me
He’s definitely a tricky character but he’s not THAT much different from TEKKEN 3 & tag so if you have a clear understanding of his move set and stay low and on the offensive he’s manageable to beat.
I enjoy fighting Eddy in this game 😂 probably have like a 90% success rate
Good video. I suck against Eddy, but I'm not going to purchase DLC just to lab him. Knowing some tekken fundamentals and getting beat up in matches helps figure out some of his stance options, so there's that.
Never liked him, never seemed appealing enough to play as him. Welp.
What makes a character annoying? Easy answer. Everyone.
Or more specifically, anyone you don't know how to deal with.
He was hated back in the day because he was just organized chaos. Someone who never played before could just push buttons and do random unpredictable crap.

All Anti-Eddy Punishment Guide Video Ever Made Until This Point: Am I a joke to you?
I’m an Eddy main and I have to say that the only people that think Eddy is broken are people that don’t have experience against him. When I play someone and I can tell they know nothing about him I steamroll them. If they are familiar with him though it’s very difficult some of his most important strings can be interrupted so easily without fail you just need to know how. His damage is also very low.
and that is way you main him, youu cheese loving guy
Wow, hold on, I agree with most of what you said, and it will be very difficult to win with Eddy if the opponent knows the match up very well, but Eddy's damage is NOT low. When Eddy gets you, either on counterhit or combos, he hurts like a mfer. Get a counterhit with Eddy and he does 50 to 55 damage with just 2 moves, that is almost a full combo. Eddy hurts, but will get punished just as hard if you are doing something wrong
Had problems with him when i couldnt lab him. Now that i can lab him, Eddy isnt a problem. Now Drag, Alisa, King and Xaioyu.....
Give us Christie Montiero instead Bamco 😂
Eddy Gordo has always been my main since Tekken 3, I would only use that spammy one-button combo move of his when someone is being a troll or is literally spamming one move. Also, yeah, I'm a casual player.
