Very nice and detailed review from a day-to-day use view point. Wanted to know how these low profile (RFT) tyres behave on broken/potholed Indian roads. Plenty of tyre bursting/rim damage problems in the X1 and X3 earlier with Pirelli/RFT/18" rims. How about these 18 inch wheels and Michelin tyres? Would non RFT tyres make the ride smoother?
RFTs are more sensitive to sidewall issues than regular tyres. This is opposite to what you would expect. I have lost two tyres to a pothole already (1 front, 1 rear). Good tyres in these sizes are expensive. The only consolation is that the rears are almost done anyway at this point (19.5K KM). The fronts have a ton more life to them. Unfortunately, I have to change all four at this point and I'm waiting for tyres. I'm not going RFTs again, obviously.
@@ZWingPK Thanks for the update. I think only Yokohoma makes 245/45/R18 and 275/40/R18 in non RFT's. No other manufacturer? I have a 530i m Sport with the same staggered RFT set up. My next change will be non RFT's but not sure where to get them from.....
There's options, but anything with good performance requires grey market imports. Michelin makes Pilot Sport 4/4S and even OEM Pilot Super Sport if you are out of warranty (fronts will be one upsize bigger). Contact Madhus. They usually have a lead on good tyres.

The German brands have stopped spending R&D on an IC engine, let alone a diesel engine. So this would probably be the best diesels ever.
