Matthew Sorgie LOL I love how that's the ultimate compliment 😂 and omg i've been watching your vids and all your inktobers have been coming out AWESOME 👏👏
Super random, but we have like the EXACT same curls. I don't see many people with our kinda hair texture/curls. Thanks for awesome color videos! I've been an artist all my life, and it's great to hear other people's process.
can u still explain to me how u do the under wash like how do u pick the color? for example if ur drawing a person doing a pose in a very bright dress what under painting color would u use?the skintone one or the dress colors?
marium ahmad Hey, good question! (Sorry, gonna be a long reply) First, it depends on the medium. Opaque mediums that work dark to light (ex: digital) mean you can use a HUGE range of colors--bright, dark, you name it. Mediums that go light to dark (like my watercolor painting) mean you HAVE to pick something very light and almost matching the lightest part of the piece (skin tone, light, etc). Second, the underpainting teeeends to influence how extreme you want to go but at the same time I wouldnt worry about it too much. Like in the example you gave, you could easily do either. Because it's gonna get buried under layers and layers of color, the underpainting really can't be a big life or death color decision. It's just meant to nudge you in the right color direction. And if you discover later that it's not what you want, just keep working the colors until it all comes together. This artist uses a bright underpainting for her character and she still makes it work: th-cam.com/video/hA1O-_m0fxU/w-d-xo.html I hope this makes sense? It's weird trying to explain stuff in a youtube comment so if I'm still not clear just keep asking questions, I'm totally game to answer them all >:D
This video helped me do much! But I still have got a question :') I usually only draw people (I'm trying to get anatomy right to move on to backgrounds later) and I'm not sure if I should mix every color that I used together (I use color pencils) Do you have any advice for me? Color theory is really giving me a hard time!
frICK I'm sorry, I'm reading this so late!!! Pick a few strong base colors and then use those everywhere. The amazing thing about colored pencil is that you can layer a TON before things start to look weird, so be bold! Experiment with the colors you use to shade, try subtly adding gradients, or sneak some surprise colors in places like the hair. Worse thing that'll happen is you have to erase it later which is no big deal. Pretty soon you'll find your go-to colors (mine are pink and purple) that makes your art look its best. Hope this helps!!
Color theory tutorials are not nearly as helpful as you'd think they'd be, believe me I've been there -__-;; Literally the easiest way I've ever done colors is experimenting with complimentary colors (yellow and purple is my fav
Hiya there! For the underpainting, (I'm very sorry if this is a very idiotic question, but jesus christ), do you place it in the entirety of the paper or in certain areas? If it's the latter, why and where? Again, I'm verrrrryyyy sorry for the very stupid and silly question!
Don't call me Sir; Call me Daddy Not a silly question at all! I cover the entire illustration because I want EVERYTHING in color harmony. I paint kinda sloppy at this stage which might be why it looks like I painted in sections xD
Oh, okay, thank you very much. Also, ahhh, I'm so sorry, but I can't help but be too excited 'cause you replied to my question. AHH, thank you very, very much for all the videos you've made. Like, they help out so much. And you're such a big inspiration, mmmy god. AHH. I know this is weird (especially since my username on YT is freakin' weird as fuck) but, god. I just-- so very speechless. Thank you once again. :D
Wait what the heck are you using I've never heard of that! In the video I'm using just regular painter's tape but sometimes I cheat and use basic masking tape ;D
jajajja! well Im using "gummed watercolor paper tape" but honestly I like your tape more. this one you CANT just lift off. you HAVE to cut out your piece. Im gonna get me a roll of that painter's tape.
So i been seeing you at the nine floor a lot, i feel like a creep when i am like wait you look familiar ahah Also if you ever take any studio electives i recommend you to take Watercolor class with Irena Roman, i really love her class so far. Also same i love taping my work, and it was recommend with watercolor because it stops alot of the paper rolling when you do watercolor
Monichanz Ok ngl it took me a good ten seconds of panic before I remembered we go to the same school 😂 dude, come say hi!! I startle easily but omg it'd be so cool (and weird) to meet someone who first met me online 🙈 I've heard she's really good! Kinda tempted, I'd love to spend a whole semester on my fav medium
Such a great video oml, and ngl I got a fran vibe *wink wink*

You have to learn the rules before you break them. Thats true in every aspect of art
