    This is how land rover work should be done on a sunny day. A few mates round with some beer's, then when you have done enough, off to watch a local game of cricket and quietly get pissed and fall asleep. OH!!!! HAPPY DAYS INDEED. Great work done right Mike. Yorkshire Rob.

    Mike, when I bought my '98 Disco TDI, it had a broken clutch fork, first job was to get the gearbox out and fix the clutch. Every bell housing bolt and nut was loose and the adaptor that sits on the rear of the block to bolt the bell housing to had a whole section cracked and broken out complete with the stud at about the quarter past one o'clock position. Had to remove the block adaptor and alloy weld the bit back in before getting the gearbox back in. Cracking can mean the bolts were not tight enough, just from that experience...

    • @BritannicaRestorations
      @BritannicaRestorations  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a feeling they may have jammed the flywheel and cracked the housing

    Mike. Did one install your uprated clutch fork with throw out thrust bearing too ? Suppose the replacement clutch plate and pressure plate were all brand new. Owner wants a Blow off valve next ! V.

      Yes, I always fit one of my clutch forks but had the bloody camera off when fitting it! Always fit Valeo HD clutches for the 130

    Is there a reason you only torqued the clutch cover bolts to 25 nm? Manual states 34 nm or 25 lb-ft. Are your new bolts only grade 8.8 instead of 10.9?

    • @BritannicaRestorations
      @BritannicaRestorations  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really a mission critical crack in my opinion - could be caused by locking the flywheel

    Another great video and just to confirm Mike, when you work on the transmission of 300tid Defender you always pull engine to transfure box out as a unit?? Particularly as I work on my own or with help from my 7st wringing wet girlfriend.....

    • @BritannicaRestorations
      @BritannicaRestorations  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I do a clutch I take the engine out, but if it is a transmission/transfer case issue, I pull the lot out - simpler to sling the whole unit that trying to get the gearboxes back in in one lump if you see what I mean
