The editor was already complicated, and allowed for making absurd levels, like WHAT. Now with the 2.2 update, the limits of the editor have been shattered. Robtop cooked us up a 5 course, triple Michelin star meal with this update
I am so happy I’m finally able to use the zoom out trigger. The amount of times I’ve built something like air decoration only for it to not show up on screen fully is crazy. I also love the way we can now change the background and ground mid level. It’s so fun.
I feel like 2.2 leveled the playing field a bit when it comes to creating levels. With all these new features it's going to be much easier for your average joe to create a level that is not only good gameplay wise but also looks good. For too long I have had the feeling that your level not only had to play well but also had to look like the mona lisa in order to get any recognition whatsoever so this is very nice to see.
This update is actually amazing. There's so much stuff added, especially in the editor, I cant imagine how hard it would be to play older levels again because the new 2.2 levels have the camera completely change the gameplay and platformer levels too. I've been waiting for the update for 5 years but it doesn't even feel like I waited that long somehow, I guess its because I just don't play the game much anymore? This update will definitely bring me back to the game though
Watching just one out of the dozens of new triggers achieve that effect at the beginning all by itself gave me final and perfect clarity on why 2.2 took so long. It doesn't matter how insane late 2.1 levels are, 2.2 is the endgame of GD level decoration quality. There is no way anything isn't possible now.

Shaders and the new warp object feature are amasing improvements to object obtimization. Now well see levels as detailed as the ones we got in 2.1 but accesible to everyone (only if done right).
Now that Rob has released everything he wanted to release, I feel like there's a need for a UI overhaul. The amount of buttons that appear in the screen is so overwhelming that it's easy to get lost in it.

I was really surprised to see Aleph 0 rotate solid blocks in 2.1, I thought we could not get further, now with 2.2 I cannot ever comprehend what to expect.
I’m so conflicted with 2.2. It’s so cool, but it deters me from level creation cause of the complexity . platformer is fine but making levels in platformer has got to be hell. It feels nice to have the 6 year wait finally come to an end, but so much has been developed so it feels to me like all these features are thrown at you like running in to a brick wall. Either way I’m really excited, but I’m still quite overwhelmed with all these features
I definitely understand your point, but the way I see it (as someone who has tried to make 1 or 2 levels a few years ago and given up halfway through) there is now so much that is possible. So in a way it makes it easier to realize an idea you have. Want to have a cool background with a buch of rotating and size changing blocks that adapt to your movement? What would have been hell to set up and understand in 2.1 is now possible with just a few triggers. Yes there is so much new stuff that it feels overwhelming but if you pick out a few you want to use for a level, it should be way easier to create something really cool.
This is how I felt even back in early 2.1 man, I did a few unfinished things of varying quality back then but honestly I’m just along for the ride at this point LOL. It’s fun to mess with the new triggers but making an actual level is not even on the table
It's just overwhelming. It's not like a few generally simple additions that won't take long to understand. it's a truckload of complicated changes that I just can't understand.
