I listened to this, and the first phrase that came to my mind was "Arm-chair Theologians". I don't mean by that to cast doubt upon the genuineness of these men nor minimize their expertise in matters of theological discourse and Christian history, but one would expect that a Presbyterian and Reformed Seminary would lead this issue with instruction from the Scriptures and the Confessions. "For what saith the scripture..." if you will. [Rom. 4:3].
The Scripture clearly teaches and commands the regular gathering for public worship, yet with no direct and clear Biblical support for ecclesiastical interruption, the burden of proof remains for those who would enact/support such a restriction. I also see no Confessional support for the interruption, rather, using the word "public" the 17th Century Larger Catechism knew no other gathering but that which was the in person gathering of the saints:
Q117: How is the sabbath or the Lord’s day to be sanctified?
A117: The sabbath or Lord’s day is to be sanctified by an holy resting all the day... and making it our delight to spend the whole time... in the PUBLIC and private exercises of God’s WORSHIP...[Emphasis added] Isa. 66:23; Luke 4:16; Acts 20:7; I Cor. 16:1-2
I want to add one more comment and a link to the entire letter of Luther, partially referred to in this video as support for the cessation of public gathering for worship. From the entire letter, it is overwhelmingly evident, that those that avoid the plague are spoken of by Luther as weak in the faith and given over to fear. He no doubt says go ahead and flee, for such a one as you, are of no value here to minister to the sick and dying.
And therein lies the rub. Let the ministers and elders who have closed the doors of the church today to the members, go out and personally minister to, pray with and encourage those infected and dying of the coronavirus. This is their duty and this is what Luther's letter explains. Not seeing nor hearing much of this today!

What a pleasant and blessed talk we just heard, only thing we need is opening and ending credits with lower thirds to keep record of who are the speakers, host and if possible please add the quotes of the reformers like Martin Luther and Zwingli, many blessings :)

The key question seems to me to be how will we know the self-quarantine has worked and what criteria can be used to allow people to get back to work and back to church? The current plan seems to be open-ended and just hoping for magic answer to appear. What if the cure (millions losing their jobs from forced quarantine) is worse than the disease?

In this series are you saying we need to obey the leaders God has placed over us and follow their mandates in spite of our rights as citizens of the United States. My church(OPC)is having discussions/debates over this summer issue

excellent! Also, how must his disciples have felt when they watched him taken and killed not knowing what that was about, we get maybe a tiny bit of appreciation for their struggle in this time

I don’t hear m Luther insight about public worship during the pestilence? Only to avoid people and not to temp God by going out to spread the disease. Sure, that’s negligence knowing your sick and still go out. But naturally when I’m sick, i can’t do anything but bed rest. Minimize as much exposure as possible. But the lord day is a command. Avoiding public worship is not negligence as far as our duty to God? I find the video very carnal. 👎👎.
