Quick question, grandpa passed away a few weeks back. Grandma want to sale the apartement... but we are worry about that one time income affecting her current medicare status... What trust do you recommend?
I want to make sure that when you say "Medicare" that you don't really mean "Medicaid" - BTW, its possible to have both. If Grandma only has Medicare, then she does not need to do anything because Medicare does not look at assets or income to determine eligibility. Medicaid, on the other hand, is much different. If your grandmother has Medicaid AND Medicare, in Florida, then we really need to have a consultation to discuss how to protect her full benefits. Our recommendations are different for everyone. www.elderneedslaw.com/difference-between-medicare-and-medicaid
@@sarahgupton2552 CARES is a section of the Florida Department of Elder Affairs that conducts a medical/needs assessment as part of the Medicaid eligibility process. Perhaps that is what you are thinking of. I discuss a bit more about it here: www.elderneedslaw.com/blog/medicaid-waiver-waitlist-and-priority-scores-florida

What is “cares account “? Is this what you’re talking about?
Hi Sarah - I'm not sure what you mean. Can you point me to the minute mark in the video. I'll then check it out and reply.
@@elderneedslaw It’s a term I’ve heard but can’t remember where. I think it’s the same as what you’re talking about.
