Just learned this location is technically pronounced: oh-guh-LA-la. Thanks for watching!

Yep you're definitely not from Nebraska if you mispronounce Ogalala

I grew to love the High Plains when I was at the University of Wyoming. The history of the hardy folks who settled that country is pretty special. Oglala’s history is pretty wild and wooly too. Thanks for the tour and a wonderful episode!

Oh my goodness. I was so surprised to see you visiting my home state. Have lived here my whole life (71 years) and have never visited this area. Will definitely be doing it soon. Great destination to combine with Black Hills. Thanks so much.

Western Nebraska is very underrated. In addition to Oglala, I've hiked in Chadron State Park, Ft. Robinson SP, Nebraska National Forest, Scotts Bluff NM, Agate Fossil Beds NM, Chimney Rock, Courthouse and Jail Rocks. A lot of beautiful and peaceful places there.

Really great video! The combination of the stark landscape, moody skies, and enthralling sunset makes for a very spectacular and almost spiritual experience. Such vast country. Never been to this state, but now have all the more reason to go. Thanks for bringing us along!

What a beautiful landscape this park entails! I love how you edited the perfect foreshadowing about the possibility of the road being treacherous during/after a rainstorm 😳. Hopefully the storm you encountered on your way out did not cause any issues. The sunset shots were amazing! Thanks so much, Randy. Take care always.

I relieve the trail is 1.3 miles in length. Toadstool is all part of the 'Badlands' that stretch across western North and South Dakota and into northwest Nebraska just above the 'Pine Ridge' area of NW NE. Nearby is Fort Robinson State Park to the south. To the north is the site of Warbonnet Creek Battlefield.

Randy, Yes, Badlands is another reason to visit Nebraska. I remember that there was no real trail there. A special place to be alone. You have so much good fortune with the weather, and we do enjoy it when you show that the weather isn’t always perfect. What an amazing sunset! THANK YOU FOR TAKING US ON THIS HIKE IN THE TOADSTOOLS, . . . Mike

    Oh Ga La La.
The Oglala are one of the seven subtribes of the Lakota people who, along with the Dakota, make up the Očhéthi Šakówiŋ. A majority of the Oglala live on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, the eighth-largest Native American reservation in the United States.
