You’d think he just committed first degree murder. I don’t condone his actions but as he said, a moment of rage and he snapped which he shouldn’t have. Honestly don’t get why this is blown out of proportion. You see people doing far worse and keeping their jobs. Sky already employ people who have done drink driving and drugs which is on a greater scale than spitting. It was petulant, disgusting and uncalled for but it was a moment of stupidity which he will learn from. Those asking for him to lose his job etc need to get a grip. People are obsessed with someone losing their job over incidents. Every human being makes mistakes.

He's not sorry, he's just gutted that he got caught and it's gone public. Big difference. He's not killed anyone, but at 40 years of age you'd expect he'd know better. Spitting at anyone is just plain disgusting, especially on the road in a moving vehicle. The other guy also isn't free from blame, but it just seemed like typical football banter it has to be said. In any other job he'd be sacked for this. Sometimes in life actions have consequences. His position at Sky Sports is now just untenable. I just can't forget that kind of behaviour. It's so vulgar.

His position on Sky Sports is pretty much untenable now really. How can he ever condemn any player for misbehaving again ? Imagine Mourinho in an interview after a game where Carragher has criticised his players. Lol. Jose would have an absolute field day. Carragher simply is not a position to do his job with Sky properly after this. Richard Keys and Andy Gray were turfed for a lot less in my eyes. No doubt Cara will be back soon though. Sky have already been doing clever PR by giving him a roasting on Sky News and giving Gary Neville the backing to tweet that 'it shouldn't stop them working together' and 'sure he'll be back soon and rightly so'. Spitting at someone equals bottom of the barrel. To say that you lost it for a few seconds isn't an excuse. There is something inherently wrong with a person's character if taking THAT action is what comes to mind when 'losing it'. Shame really, I like Cara as a pundit.

The fact that he hasn't resigned shows exactly how remorseful he actually is. I know he's not the brightest but surely even he knows that if he doesn't resign the axe will have to fall.
No company in any walk of life can keep on a member of staff who has spat in the face of a 14 year old girl especially as there was no real provocation, purely the kind of banter which is nowhere near as bad as most footballers and ex footballers have to deal with daily!!!
Be a man Jamie and walk. You're just making it harder on yourself and everyone who follows Liverpool FC as they are making themselves look even sillier by trying to defend the undefendable!!!

Whilst on patrol in the late 70s in Belfast, my mate was spat upon in the face. Infectious abcess's began to grow upon the skin and made a right mess that took a long time to clear. I harbour a very despicable view of anyone that spits in someone's face.

Imagine if there was no video footage of the incident and the father went to press - no doubt Carragher would have denied it. The real JC was shown in those couple of seconds, reminiscent of all those dirty tackles he used to make. No class.
The road is also no place to goad someone, too many accidents are caused by carelessness. This reflects badly on both parties involved.

Unacceptable behaviour from Jamie. He overstepped the mark massively. But lets not forget the careless driver dad who put his daughter's life in danger just to get a few likes on Facebook. To me thats even more pathetic. Jamie Carragher seems like a good bloke and I really like him as a pundit. We all get in terrible moods when our team loses and sometimes can't control the anger. He has apologised profusely and I believe that he is sorry. He doesn't deserve to lose his job. People need to get over it now. United fan

  • @am1d

And that's why before you do something, you think! Just imagine that all of this could never have happened and he would not have needed to explain himself hoping this story disappears from the headlines any time soon. If only he had flipped them off or had done something NORMAL people do when confronted by cheeky banter or better yet, just ignore it. Silly thing, yes, but silly things can get people in jail. If you overreact, you can get into trouble. Spitting will never be excused in this case. If your *natural reaction* to this sort of thing is to roll down your window and share your saliva, abusing a child in the process, you need to get removed from the TV. There are plenty of crazy motherfuckers out there on the streets, no need to have one on the screen as well.
    Sack Carragher.
