Guy hanging out with a dog, Idaho guy lying about his play style, navy guy talks guy with dog into giving away his money, beard guy loves to gamble. 10/10 final table.
With the ability to read his opponents, Eskimo says, if the cards fall even he does well. He couldn't get a read on his final opponent but the opponent beat him with a three-part strategy: gradually become increasingly aggressive, exploit the big man's tendency to chase his own money, and make unorthodox plays to screw up the standard card-fall/betting-patterns of standard play. This one on one wasn't a card game, it was a psychological contest.
I think he was past his prime here. He was about 60 which is never ideal, even Doyle declined but amazingly managed to keep things very close. Would love to know more about this guy's life. Served in Vietnam as a medic which sounds easier but is often one of the bloodiest and can be one of the most dangerous jobs too, depends on whether the enemy cares what your job is. As far as I've heard, never had kids, never got married. When he won he staked a bunch of poker players, and not all of them were good. So when he went on a bad run he needed a stake and didn't seem to have much shame to ask. He even once posted online he wasn't forcing anyone, they were free to pass him by. Maybe it was just a sad dull life, but I bet there was more there.
Yeah, poker was a lot more fun to watch back then. So many interesting different personalities with their unique look and play styles clashing with each other. Now everyone is like a carbon copy of each other, and all play like a computer the exact same way. They may be technically better players, but it is more boring to watch.
@@pauldavis5665 Very very few are better players. They might be better at NLH, but Eskimo could play any game at the time at a high level. Most players today can't. i suspect someone like Ivey can and a few others, but most are just NLH robots. I will have an all night party when that game dies even though I win at it (marginally these days) and lose at the other games. Hard to get better though when everyone just wants to play one variation.
37:20 Just so the younger folks know, this bit wasn't scripted; people like this *actually* played these stakes back in those days. This final table is super typical of tournament of that era; chock full of tell-heavy amateurs who would get crushed in today's $1/$2. And the rules still made sense back then, to boot! It was heaven, man...
When you play tournaments there's still plenty of people that play like this. Players are tougher but not everybody plays the same. Some people have tells with their betting patterns. The only value bet with the nuts, but will over bet with a bluff for example
Well the early wpt days took place during the poker boom, early-mid 00’s….it was a magical time to play poker! EVERYBODY and their momma was playing poker everywhere you went 😭
hey mate, we have done a fair bit of detecting over the years in comfort and now we are putting our Commander up for sale, it is a great vehicle, reliable and safe, we have avoided caravan parks like a plague, we had the freedom of so many places that are hard to reach with the peace and quiet that comes with it, found some good gold and fished some amazing places. if you want to see a video on it visit TH-cam and search for: 4x4 motor home SLRV Commander , you will notice the new paint job and we have made a few upgrades, if you are interested contact us and do an inspection, you will not be disappointed😁
She was actually married to Vince's brother. I have a feeling their divorce had something to do with her leaving. I wouldn't wanna work with my ex brother in law going through a divorce lol.
The worst final table I have ever watched in terms of skill. I literally thought I was watching a WPT beginning players only tournament or some sort of free roll for an entry until I realized it was literally a WPT major event. These players were horrible.
What a stupid play by Michael, the last call, having 4 × Js, putting All In. It does not matter what cards your opponent have. I in perhaps 100,000 games, you gat 4 of a kind. Really stupid, had he put in USD 50,000 or 70,000, he would be richer by that amount.
@37:47 sexton- “that Ship talk by the navy guy won him the pot again” classic
I've never forgotten Kinney's horrible sigh shove with quads all these years later. Lol!
one of the worst poker plays I've ever seen, holy crap lol, might be the single worst
Guy hanging out with a dog, Idaho guy lying about his play style, navy guy talks guy with dog into giving away his money, beard guy loves to gamble. 10/10 final table.
Beard guy would later have a heart attack or stroke at a poker table during the wsop.
love the replay choices, final 3, what do we know
Can someone explain why at 59,33 there is cash on the table when there are still three players in the game!!!!!!!
Nice catch
Ha! I saw that too but brushed it off as me seeing things. 😄
What a rookie finish! Wish Eskimo wins it!
R.I.P. Eskimo!!
And Mike Sexton as well.
@@markheying2830 Sorry, Mike Sexton was alive yet when I made that comment!! But, yes.. R.I.P. Mike Sexton!

@@CowSaysMooMoo Sure!!
The navy man. RIP Mike Sexton. The Mike and Vince combo best ever .
37:21 LOL! He tried to be so epic about his call, but then he was wrong and his mind broke. 😂
LOL WTF ? ,,,What a Dumbass 😂😂😂
I miss all the old man pirate weirdo poker players like Eskimo Clark. Now it's all young norm-core Internet dorks.
lmao @ "norm-core" 😂

The donkey show! All in with quads on the turn. What a jerk
He was hoping Harry had a big pair in the hole
I started playing poker three months ago that I play “ blind folded” way better than Michael.

2nd time, Michael vs Eskimo, having Straight Cards can beat a Pair or 2 Pair. He called All In, I do think he is a professional poker player.
Eskimo reminds me of Hagrid from Harry Potter
Whos Harry Potter?
yeeeahhh that was really something special i cant wait to see more

Eskimo reminds me of Chum Lee(how he talks) if Chum had a beard! LOL!
how was harry still in it after the flush draw? He raised all-in and then Eskimo got his flush draw shouldnt that have put Harry out?
Harry put all in and Eskimo win,but the chips of Eskimo not enough so harry pay only the amount of chips of Eskimo.
Harry had more chips than eskimo
What a head of hair on Eskimo!
nice hand harry
i like this game
Bam Pham, gone man!
Can someone please tell me why did shana hiatt leave w.p.t I love watching her she is so funny

Philip Tucker
So she got the job from knowing Vince, then live by the sword, die by the sword.
27:51 donk moment😂
the entire video was a donk moment lol that Michael guy is the worst player i have ever seen on the wpt.
Those bad river beats are brutal😂

Miami Florida
quads and all in????????????
LOL 53:30 Michael looks back at his chips. THAT'S A TELL, GENIUS!
51:04 woman praying + 51:51 miracle card = god confirmed
This final table is hilarious
Interesting betting patterns at heads up... It confuses the pro!

worst call ever on the end with ACE JACK

pete is a donky how he make it this far like wtfffff
What a lousy player Michael was!
Why on earth said “ all in “ after he got a quad of “ J “ on the turn?…rookie mistake.
