- The World Poker Tour (WPT) is a series of international poker tournaments and associated television series broadcasting the final table of each tournament. It was started in the United States by attorney/television producer Steven Lipscomb, who served as CEO of WPT Enterprises (WPTE), the firm that controlled the World Poker Tour up to November 2009. In 2008, the WPT started offering bracelets to its event champions. Players who won a title prior to the release of the WPT Bracelet, were given one retroactively.
The wildest and most exciting final table I've ever seen!
It was exciting at the time for sure (Jay Martens here) Ugh... The hands of mine that they showed were so awful... That AQ hand with Gus is so cringe. I played some decent hands and battled all night (not shown on the broadcast) but it was so exhausting and stressful I was pretty much done by the end and running on fumes.
Jay the Queen giving you a set and him a flush was the dirtiest card. It was just a great fun table. I did noticed your not featured alot but somehow made heads up. Danny was just destined here. Great stuff.

This has become my favorite table. Back in the day. I didn't like or appreciate Gus. As I go back now I find the ones he was in tend to be my favorite. Lots of great Mike and Vince. Danny catching cards is amazing every time. I miss these times.

Ah the good ole days. This was during a time when most poker players were playing very reserved and ABC poker…the guys who played aggressive could get players to fold or felted all the way to the final table

I’ve played with a lot of Viet players and they love to chase any draws like gunshots and 3 flushes all the way to the river lol. Seen lots of massive pots won that way as well

Chip, thanks for posting. This is probably the most worthwhile tournament video I've seen: lots of crazy draw-outs, pretty girls. We still had Mike Sexton announcing with Vince. (Does anybody know what year this was? If we'd had higher-quality video then it would be perfect.) And the two pros (Gus and Danny) prevailed to the near end, like a story with a moral.
As far as I remember, in the Final Hand besides a Heart or a 3 Danny could have made a Backdoor Straight if the Turn and River Cards where either an Ace and a 5 or a 5 and a 6.
While DW made some decent plays, overall, he’s hands down the luckiest FT winner in WPT history. He not only pulled a miracle on Men, that A/7 vs A/K hand was unreal. He was a half a percent to win after the flop.
Those saying Danny was brilliant, uh, what’s he done since this tournament? Absolutely zero.
It’s very telling of his “skill” that in the WPT championship, which he got free entry to, he was out on day one. In fact, he was the ONLY WPT FT winner who was eliminated on day one of that tournament.
Danny’s takedown was apparently just in the cards. Several pots he won from misplays by other players. Most notably the HU hand with Martens where he chased the flush. To be fair to Martens, he’d seen the crap Danny played and honestly could have believed it was the best hand. But those two prior outdraws and that key hand ended up giving Danny the victory.

To be honest I used to chew gum a lot when I was younger to keep me awake and alert. Until I found out it was rude and bothered others I stop ever since. You will be surprised that no one ever told Danny it was a rude habit.

@@JDKMAR hey jay it’s been a long time. So yes I still play recreational for fun and almost no tournaments, but last WSOP (2019) I played my first eligible seniors event. It’s crazy how fast time goes by. My oldest was 8 then and now she’s getting her PHD. Hope life’s been good to you and the money made your life better.

Danny got some good cards but it was the way he played them that counted. I think a lot of players with the same cards would have played them much different. Danny kept pushing and he had a lot of luck. All the players at the final table played good with the cards they got. Some mistakes were made but you will have that happen in any poker game. Thanks for the uploads.
