- The World Poker Tour (WPT) is a series of international poker tournaments and associated television series broadcasting the final table of each tournament. It was started in the United States by attorney/television producer Steven Lipscomb, who served as CEO of WPT Enterprises (WPTE), the firm that controlled the World Poker Tour up to November 2009. In 2008, the WPT started offering bracelets to its event champions. Players who won a title prior to the release of the WPT Bracelet, were given one retroactively.

Freddy Deeb seems like an okay guy outside of this. He was just frustrated, but those comments definitely came back to haunt him.
I like Juanda He just seems like a nice calm person that's very polite and would give you time of day.

Poker was so different back then -- you never see any of this limping at a final table anymore.

All the old poker players sucked... they didn’t know how maths works and if you hear Vince and mike talking all game Gus confused them by making calls where he was getting about 2:1 or better every time. Losing to someone even all day doesn’t make that player better, Gus was ahead of his time and thinking about things these other clowns couldn’t even fathom.

@Scott Christensen Not a newb. There is no reason to even TOUCH your chips unless you are doing one of 2 things....Betting, or trying to gauge a reaction....... ok....YOU tell me what he does at the timestamp.

He certainly wouldn’t flip his cards over before confirming that forward motion is binding and he probably didn’t want to cause a commotion and say something before the dealer/floor who are also watching the action.
Johnny's not an imbecile. He knows how betting rules work. He knew nothing was binding there. 🙄
@@ThisHandleFeatureIsStupid yes but the FLOOR did not, and they did not see it, so when the story got told to them he mightve gotten a favorable ruling. Plus, Nguyen was not calling anyway, so Johnny had nothing to lose in TRYING it.

It would look pretty suspicious if Gus hadn’t bet. He c-bets every time he raises preflop. If he had checked that time it would have been obvious what he had.
