I have only been subbed for a few months, and I love all your stories. This one struck a chord in me though. When I was listening to the part where the girl heard a rider approaching and you said the name of the man, I first thought I heard wrong. So I went back and listened again and sure enough you said Mosley Riddle. My father’s family is/was spread out from Arkansas to Tennessee down into Texas. I have done some family research in the past and I have never come across a Mosley, but we do have a Moses Riddle. I was born and raised in Oregon, but my heart has always pulled me to that part of the country, especially the Appalachians. Maybe I lived there in a past life (if you believe in that sort of thing, which I do).

What an all inspiring story of mercy and forgiving. The Appalachian people were tough and hard because of the life they were forced to endure. But their hearts were big.
Their homes were always open to all us kids that ran around, family or not. And they always found something for us to do, even if they payed us in homemade sweets. Such fond memories.
I love your stories ❤ I just found you guys a few days ago and you're tales of the mountain people are fantastic 😀. I have always wanted to travel to that area of the world. Love from 🇨🇦 🍁.
Hi JD! What a riveting story, twists and turns. My oldest daughter was murdered 5 years ago and I can sympathize with that mother. Still to this day no one has been brought to justice for my daughter’s death, I just have to leave it in the Lord’s hands. Have a blessed day!
ugh , ditto , my youngest son 6 yrs ago . no justice yet but i know those people arent free . forgiveness ( or not ) isnt my problem -- they will answer to man's law when the time comes and where i live ( morgan county indiana ) there is no slap on the wrist . they will serve decades in prison .

I've never lived through a murder in my family and for those who have may God grant you peace. My two sisters and I lived with hatred in our hearts with a father that left us I was 3 mouth's old never to be seen again and a mother that did the same our Pop raised us, forgiveness didn't come till I was 29 and gave my life to Christ and standing over my mother's death bed I forgave her, not long after she passed. Sometimes people can commit murder of the heart and like murder of the body forgiveness doesn't come easy. Thanks for sharing, you truly have a wonderful talent of sharing stories and history of the Appalachian mountain people.
Wow, murder of the heart. I didn't understand what I've been feeling all of these years. My mother was so in love with herself, she didn't have room for me. I'm happy that you were able to forgive. I haven't yet.
@@Al-Rudigor hopefully God will give you peace and the blessings of forgiveness, forgiveness isn't always for those who wronged us, it can also be for us to move forward in obedience in our walk with Christ. 70 * 7
@frankknight4491 Isn't forgiveness such a blessing? It unburdens your soul. I was 60 when I stood like you, at my mother's deathbed. I was able to say I forgive you. God bless you and yours, lifting prayers your way.
This reminds me of my childhood. I was raised by my father's parents in the hill country of North Georgia and my grandmother would tell stories just like this at night in our little home and I loved it more than anything.
The story had me sitting on the edge on every word. I had a mother-in-law who believed in not getting revenge, but allowing God to get the revenge and I seen it happen over and over again. She had a daughter that was severely handicapped and a lot of people in this small town in Tennesseewhispered about her daughter and her deceased husband and all the circumstances around her husband’s death. This was a good one JD overdid it on this one love it.
There is something about your voice and storytelling that brings back fond memories of my granny telling me stores about old times when she was a girl and things that happened a long time ago. She has been gone over 10 years now but I will never forget her or her stories. I hope you keep with the storytelling. Great job ❤
I have a 40 acre homestead here in Tennessee. I have a graveyard of 30 or so stones on the property with dates from 1790 to the 1880s. All are the same family that were the original settlers of this holler, the White family. It’s kinda sad as half the graves are kids and infants. You can see every time a fever would hit the holler as there are several different clusters of children that have dates that are all within the same week or two! There is one cluster of 8 kids ranging from 2 to 13 years old died within the same week and three of them died on the SAME DAY. I couldn’t imagine losing so many kids and three in the same day! Them WERE some HARD times!
@@TheAppalachianStoryteller not in Tennessee I hope. Californians and NYers have driven up our property values to the point our local young families can’t afford and are having to move away! I bought my 40 acres for $192k in 5 years ago and it was just appraised for $500k! I was told I could sell it for $750k in less than a WEEK! But only the Californians can or will pay that much! Folks have started to get pretty hostile towards the out of staters moving in and buying up all the land!

We all have stones in our lives, the courage to take sledgehammer to them in the name of forgiveness is the hardest thing we can ever do. Thank you for understanding the message of this powerful video
That was a beautiful and tragic story, I'm left with tears in my eyes. I don't think I could ever be strong enough to do what She did. Thank you for sharing this story. It gave me a lot to think about and the push I needed to get my bible down off the shelf dust it off and open it up.

Thank you Elizabeth
Wow, that was a captivating story and in the end everything worked out.
My Grandpa always said that when you were working hard it was always a good time to do your thinking and get your head on straight. I guess the Old Lady in the story did the same thing when she was working hard hoeing that corn.
Another great story. THANKS
Thank you Bryan !
Brought tears. Hits where I live. I pray for the salvation of the man who took my father's life. He's serving life & been in 30+ years already. Still hardened, resistant to God's grace & forgiveness. Thanks for this story. I only wish the man at the end knew
We all have stones in our lives, the courage to take sledgehammer to them in the name of forgiveness is the hardest thing we can ever do. Thank you for understanding the message of this powerful video

@TheAppalachianStoryteller I don't think that kind of forgiveness is possible without God in our hearts. If we could all be more like granny this world would be a better place to live. Another great story.
Also I would like to point out how well you respond to people trying to bait you with rude comments. All of your comments are respectful and professional. God bless you sir.
I appreciate that Brandon, I've learned that if you wrestle with pigs, you get covered in mud. With that in mind, I try to stay above the negativity of those who stay muddy.
Wow I had goosebumps numerous times throughout this poignant story! At times it is hard to forgive someone who’s done ya wrong! God will judge those as well as all of us one day! Try to do something right in this world of ours! ☮️ Peace!
Thank you Karen!
