    Just a heads up for people with guide on posts....drill a small hole in the center of the top cap
    if you have them.This will allow air to escape when submerging and they won't float away.
    Also if the post's that came in the box are too short go to a plumbing or big box store and
    get two 10 foot sch 40 pvc pipes and cut them longer than the ones that came in the box.
    make sure the new one's are at least 3 ft or more above the rub rail of the boat.
    Each boat is different so go to the ramp at a non busy time put the new pipes on and back the boat down to see the correct length of pipe you will need. Hope this help's.

      Or you could just secure the guide poles with a single bolt.

    • @oldjohnnyrude8404
      @oldjohnnyrude8404 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      My guide on poles are just open PVC pipe with no caps. The caps just trap air and cause them to do what happened here. Mine are also held on with a bolt and double nuts to act as a pin to keep them on the brackets. The trailer was obviously way too deep in the water, but had the guide ons been installed differently he wouldn't have ended up in this much of a pickle.

      My dad was bass tournament fisherman. He took me to a hill with our boat. I was 12. He worked with me for about an hour. The point was he needed to get in the water and get gone ASAP. To get to his spot.

      @motoXkiddvlogs 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      My whole life I've owned many 4wd trucks now and honestly you'd be surprised how many don't actually work. So 9 times out of 10 when you see this, 4x4 doesn't work and we never fix it because literally this is about the only time you'll ever need it in FL LOL. One of my trucks I had the same thing happen but the tide was so low the algea growth was making my truck slide in father with just the e brake . I had to hold the brakes to lock the front (only thing from keeping my truck slide in) as someone pulled me out via strap (boat wasn't powerful enough to push my one ton out). My front diff took a shit on me because GMs AAM axles SUCK and are nothing but problems. Two out of three of my GM trucks 4x4 hasnt worked. Between the actuator's, CV axle splines being stripped, the T-case chain wearing holes in the housing.
      My ford's have been much better to me, can't beat dana axles. Only thing ever gave me problems was the lockers which I bet was this guy's problem which is notorious on those 7.3s they had garbage vaccum lockers compared to 11+

Then it happened lower unit grinding on the cement. Then they yelled to stop then to make it better they were going to back up and I was going to tell them not to but I remembered what they told me so I let them back up and watch the drama unfold! I suggest all new boater spend one day at the boat ramp just watching, as well one day (a slow day) ...During the week just leap frogging your boat on and off the trailer and in and out of each spot. Get a system, run a check list and keep doing it. If it starts to rain keep doing it. If the wind picks up keep doing it. Just keep doing it until it becomes second nature. Do not hold people up at the ramp do this during the week on a shitty boating day. Take a friend and have them stand by on the boat to prevent scratches but try to do as much as much as you can by yourself. If and when the doc master approaches you explain yourself. Tell him you want be as efficient as you can that's why you picked a slow day. He will most likely direct traffic away from you and appreciate your effort

    • @stevewilliamson8526
      @stevewilliamson8526 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea that is a good idea but most people are not going to take your advice but what I did was take my boat down a deserted road and practice backing it/turning it around/but the real reason was my back brakes needed adjusting and if you back up while pushing the park brake peddle up and down while backing it it will adjust your parking brake and you wont role into the water when you are unhooking the boat with a standard trans. No shit it works

      You know how many trucks were bought and used before the 4x4 fad started back in the late 80’s? You don’t need a 4x4 for most situations. I hauled many boats up a ramp without the need for it, boat sizes ranging for 18’ up to 25’

    Old mate needs to bolt those guide poles onto the trailef &drill a hole in the top to let the air out.
    These guys all seem to do an amazing job of making it look hard to back a trailer & load a boat

    Every boat ramp, at least where I live in the mid west, is a little different as to pitch. Most guys I see having trouble loading get the trailer in too deep and then crooked. You can tell right away when someone backs in to load how experienced they are.

    One rule of the lake or body of water, always watch the people with a new boat, so many do not know how to boat, drunk or sober.

    The dude on the dusky climbed over the bow rail to secure the boat to the trailer but left the motor running. I wonder if he pulled it out before realizing it was still running. How the boat was positioned and given his condition it would have been hard to climb back on board. Qualified captain.

    The number of people I see in these videos that don’t have lines and fenders ready when they pull up is amazing. It’s like these people have never been on a boat. I’d be so frustrated

    • @paulhunter9613
      @paulhunter9613 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with you, and what surprises me so much is that none of these boaters have something so simple as a dock pole/hook. I’ve had 5 boats throughout the yrs and every one of them had at least 1 pole, sometimes 2. No need to try an toss a rope from the boat to a dock post..

    One observation: Safety chains must be cris-crossed to cradle the trailer when it pops off the vehicle. All hitches can fail. Trailers can hit the road and flip. So scary to see it happen.

    • @paulhunter9613
      @paulhunter9613 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed, one time I seen a trailer pop off the hitch, it careened into oncoming traffic and it hit a guy on a motorcycle head on, it wasn’t pretty

    regarding the boat with twin outboards @ 4:10, If they have trouble pulling the boat loaded on the trailer up the ramp, turn the front wheels at an angle instead of pulling straight up the ramp, this will help prevent rear wheel spin on the tow vehicle OR get several people in the truck bed over the rear drive wheel for added down force.
