Yes it was It was released 1st but didn't do to much Then Straight Up Came Out which was released 3rd I believe And then they re released this and went to #1
In 89 I was in the Navy on a commercial flight from L.A to Narita airport Tokyo. The flight was almost 18 hours long and this was constantly played. The Japanese passagers loved it and this song grew on you.
One of the greatest to ever do it. Paula and I had fun at the grocery store the other day. She was on the radio and I was getting my boogie on in the pasta isle all alone until this random lady needed something off the shelf. Initially she just wanted some sauce but Paula's music sets the party right and all 3 of us rocked out to Knock out together. If you don't lose 5 to 10lbs off this song, it's your fault and better not blame Paula!! She gave us the tools to stay fit. I don't wait to be invited to a party. I just make my own wherever I'm at. Nothing like a midday grocery store party!!! 👩🏿👉🏿🥳🤸🏿♀️
Forever Your Girl was first marketed as a RnB album and people even thought she was black. Than Straight Up blew straight up then the rest was history.
All you guys are on point with this one I felt this is the most R&B soulful song she's ever done My favorite one too she did a free concert Shawnee Park in Louisville she killed it and could move
The first time I herd this song was going to North Hollywood to see The Blob remake with my baby sister and best friend. Fell for the song and Paula. Good times!
I love this song. I cannot believe it only peaked at No.41 on the Billboard Hot 100. It is a million times better than all so called Billboard Hot 100 No 1 singles in the last few years.
Summer 1988...Cant believe this song came out 32 freakin years ago..Damn Im old !!! lol..but you know what? !!! I dont feel old gotdammit !!...lol..lol
I totally agree!!!! I have always thought Paula was the best performer during my teens and still do! She's an amazing dancer... wish she was still dancing!!
i love paula abdul. her stint as an american idol judge has completely overshadowed the fact that she's one of the best dance choreographers out there.
It’s sad her team didn’t rerelease this, because they were caught up in releasing songs that would be number one hits at the time. This is a major smash, and much better than opposites attract and the way that you love me.
Love you Paula Abdul. So much talent and some people knock her down thinking she was on drugs and alcohol. Being in excruciating pain with plates in your spine obviously doesn't qualify and as she said painkillers didn't help her anyway. Amazing Dancer, Choreographer, ex-Cheerleader and Singer stay strong always.
Yes! The similarities to Pebbles do raise eyebrows: same urban dance pop sound by Babyface; similar vocal styling, and skin complexion. If Pebbles was a dancer....
Dutchess80 Yvette claimed she sang ALL the vocals on the "Forever Your Girl " album in her lawsuit, right? Yvette claimed they used her voice and mixed Paula's in and she wasn't compensated fairly. I think she lost IIRC
It doesn't even sound like Pebbles doing the low background vocals. And the only song on Forever Your Girl that sounds like a mixed vocal, to me, is, I Need You.
This song should have been a bigger hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song did peaked at the #41 spot during the early winter of 1988. But the song did peaked at the #8 spot on the Billboard Black Single chart. After this song came out, Miss Paula did ruled the pop music world throughout 1989.
They killing The Hilltop in this video! For those that don't know what the Hilltop is. It a dance where you throw arns across each other and your body rock along with your arms. Kinda like U doing a crossover punch without hitting anybody. Also, U are on your toes slight a bit.
Never noticed how hard she is dancing, when you compare to today's choreography you be like DAMNNN!!! Paula was rocking off! The physicality and the intricateness is mindblowing

I have to say this & I have been saying this for many years she has a very close resemblance of Lisa Lisa. And this is one of my favorite Paula Abdul songs & the only 1 one song in the album produced by L.A Reid & Babyface😂
what paula lacks in vocal ability she more than makes up in visuals! she is so small but knows how to command the camera and make herself stand out. her dancing and choreography (i know she does all her own) is the best. why cant more artists now have her as a choreographer?
She showed out doing the infamous CHEERLEADER HELICOPTER...which is now illegal and I think is stupid for being illegal...what's cool is get 3 sets of them going and then toss them over to next group! She pushed the envelope before stupid sanctions!! Hello look at all the stunts done in movies!! She is still the one in my book!
is that the move she does when she performs on American idol or whatever show shes on? it was lately , she did some crazy moves. loved it. she was always one of my favorites. her Janet, cindy, and madonna
80’s & 90’s Hits
BEST Paula Abdul song. Her first hit. My favorite!
Yes it was
It was released 1st but didn't do to much
Then Straight Up Came Out which was released 3rd I believe
And then they re released this and went to #1
I second that
Knocked Out was a top 10 hit.

Most underrated choreo in Paula's career man.. My girl doesn't get enough credit
REAL TALK!💯
Boooooo!
You got that right. She tore this shyt UP!!!
In 89 I was in the Navy on a commercial flight from L.A to Narita airport Tokyo. The flight was almost 18 hours long and this was constantly played. The Japanese passagers loved it and this song grew on you.
This reminds me of such a happy time in my life. Those were the days, growing up in the eighties.
Paula kicks ass. Much, much better video than what the present day artists have to offer
nope she had 7 hits off that album including the song straight up
Sand Heden back when female artists didn't need to show their ass to prove their talents
Yes right, great voice,Nice hit song and amazing coreography,i still feel like when i was teenager 😉si Nice time❤️
I agree Sand Helen.
How dare you say that about Doja cat and Cardi B!🤬🤬🤬
Paula looked so incredible in this video. I loved her.
yep it seems 1988 was much different then a lot of the other years within the 1980s, 1987-1989
I like that version of the video. Because it shows more of her choreography.
One of the greatest to ever do it. Paula and I had fun at the grocery store the other day. I dance and sing in the grocery store as well. This is my favorite by Paula!!!
This sound of this song aged extremely well! It could be released today and be a hit.
R&B Radio Played Paula Heavily First Before Pop Radio Did With This Classic
Facts..they also played Its Just The Way That You Love Me
Forever Your Girl was first marketed as a RnB album and people even thought she was black. Than Straight Up blew straight up then the rest was history.

It's her first single and her first song that she recording of her career. It's before ''Straight Up'', her breakthrought single.
This song should have gone top 3 at best!! That was criminal there.
One of my favorite songs by Paula. She was one of the best dancers out there. I loved watching her, her choreography was bad ass.
Summer 1988...Cant believe this song came out 32 freakin years ago..Damn Im old !!! lol..but you know what? !!! I dont feel old gotdammit !!...lol..lol
PAULA'S BEST!!!!!!!! HANDS DOWN
I forgot how much Paula was a beast on the dance floor, and she taught Janet her dance moves. This was one of my favorites from Paula back n the day.
Paula Abdul was where TRUE choreography was born, baby!
Can't argue!
Paula Abdul choreographed Janet Jackson video's back in the day...
Scott Brandts Bob Fosse. Look him up.
Now I’m in the mood to dance to 80s/90s 💃🕺🪩✌🏼💛 from McAllen, Tx 956!
Wonderful 1988 classic!!!
She is my favorite singer.
Damn She COULD DANCE!!! As well as Sing!!! Thanks for the Memories!!! Loved this One!!!!

her smile is so beautiful 😭💗
This is the best version, great pop song
i love paula abdul. her stint as an american idol judge has completely overshadowed the fact that she's one of the best dance choreographers out there.
Best of all her songs and video. 90's were the best ever!!!
Damn right!
This was 1988 and yes the 80s were the best
Love the nonstop choreographed dancing. You hardly ever see anything like this in music videos nowadays!
She is great!!! I love how she moves and dances!!!!
my favorite video of hers! classy Paula!
yes, this is the version I was looking for. The other version had "off" editing. Well, the dance routine as I remember is from this version.
I love this dancing song ...my favorite of Paula.
I still love this song!
This was the video that made me fall in love with Paula Abdul 😍
Great song & the beauty of a goddess!!! I ve been fan of hers since the late 80s !!🌹👈
This version showcases all the dance more than the modified video they released
One of my favorite songs by her.
It’s sad her team didn’t rerelease this, because they were caught up in releasing songs that would be number one hits at the time. This is a major smash, and much better than opposites attract and the way that you love me.
#PaulaAbdulWeek one of my favorite songs from her. Simply amazing.
GREAT song, GREAT dancing. Really takes me back to a better time and place in the world.

The most beautiful woman on the planet
:35 That phenomenal dancer in the background! Love Paula Abdul❤
backing vocals at the end...... courtesy of pebbles
royston rogers Royston would be correct. It's Pebbles. Yvette Marine did sing background vocals but not for that song.
carmenjones411 I wonder if that has anything to do with why they re-edited the video
i LOVE me some PEBBLES!!!! TY!! cause of your comment i am so gonna jam to her today!!! YAS!!!!
Didn't know that.

My favorite song of all time
damn pebbles i didnt know u had vocals and paula love the choreography in this
Yes! The similarities to Pebbles do raise eyebrows: same urban dance pop sound by Babyface; similar vocal styling, and skin complexion. If Pebbles was a dancer....
Steadmond Smith Pebbles is actually singing background on this song. Read the credits.
Dutchess80 Yvette claimed she sang ALL the vocals on the "Forever Your Girl " album in her lawsuit, right? Yvette claimed they used her voice and mixed Paula's in and she wasn't compensated fairly. I think she lost IIRC
nope Paula had 7 hits off this album including the song straight up

Paula so fantastic wow so love it😎😍
Paula is killing The Hill Top. For those who don't know is a dance step. Go Paula Go!
The best Paula Abdul song imo
that hair is so 90's fabulous!
HERE IT IS. The original version with the dances flowing with song.
This is the version I was looking for! Its so much better.
the definition of fierce? Paula Abdul during the 80's!
Paula at her best!!!!
Her best song
LA Reid and Babyface are one of my favorite music production teams of all time.
Another L.A. Reid & Babyface Production....
Walter Ortiz Nieves Their productions were off the chain! Still love 'em this very day.
Me too! They've worked with so many others during the time. The L.A. Reid & Babyface team, where like Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis in the mid-80's.
they did all bobby brown and toni braxton too their era
@@jgsure2773 very true
get it paula wenever i get my drank before headin to a club this is my shyt to vibe to it gets me n the mood to dance
I Love her hair in this video.
Thats one of many styles back in the day😎
they did the Hollywood..the Hilltop..the Helicopter..all in this one video!! dance classic
This original without the filters is a better edit than the official published version.
That's the ONE thing I loved Paula Abdul was, she's was never, NEVER filthy and nasty as female singers are today!!
then you didnt see the video coldhearted
I did. That video is nothing compared to now though.
msladytsunade777 raw
Je fais gym et danse sur cette chanson tout en ayant pieds gonflés et sciatique.
Je suis en forme 2 heures ce rythme me manquait. !!

I was in love the moment
That I saw you
I followed you through the crowd
And I almost lost you
I was dying to tell you
But scared of your reaction
But I can't hold back
Because I'm rushed with this thing called passion
You've got me knocked out turn me inside out
It's you that makes my heart beat
Hey, you've got me knocked out, baby there's no doubt
You swept me off of my feet
I walked your way hoping that
Maybe you noticed
(Hi, hello there)
I don't want to move to fast
I don't want to blow it
Never did I think
Love could be so amazing
But the things that you're making me do
It's driving me crazy
You've got me knocked out turn me inside out
It's you that makes my heart beat
You've got me knocked out, baby there's no doubt
You swept me off of my feet
I want us to get closer, boy I wanna be
