- Gunnar has desperately been wanting to try this technique and when we stumbled across this silk velvet, we felt it was the perfect chance to! It was time consuming but not hard at all! Would you guys be interested in a longer version of this tutorial?!

I love the velvet texture being used for a pattern that would usually give a geometric look, the contrast of soft and sharp is so pretty.

Next time, measure the cover it is already in. You actually need to overstuff your pillowcase a little bit so it stays nice and plump. By measuring the pillow, you create a cover that is technically too big because you can’t overstuff it. It’s a trick used by all interior stylists to create the perfect pillow appearance.
The problem is that I made the previous cover and it had warped over time, so it wasn’t a really good example. What I did and didn’t talk about was adding the math back into my pattern. Only so much you can say in a minute 😂😅

I did that when I bought new throw pillows late year. (The cover manufacturer said the same.) They looked like a picture! And sucked when you attempted to sit on the sofa. I ended up replacing all the inserts with the correct size.
I’m really loving the more home decor sewing projects that you’re doing. Mostly because you understand the structure and layering of the fibers and materials to keep things from sliding into a middle school home economics class first project disaster. I love the dresses, the clothes, the patterns, but sometimes I want new pillows or a fancy duvet to feel like a captain of industry in chic New York, but on a call center supervisor budget. 😅

LOVE! I usually only like simpler sewing projects, unlike your intricate yet beautiful dresses, so I'm SO down to make this. Looks so soft and luxurious!!
I cannot sew but thinking of taking beginner lessons (at 57!). Do you think it would be worthwhile? Would I be able to learn how he is doing this?
@@Jennifr1966 for sure, it's really not difficult to learn basic sewing. You can make many things even with just basic skills and this pillow is no exception. And with each project you practice and learn more and more skills. For me it's just the time and effort that I prefer not to put into intricate projects because I have other interests. But there's plenty of TH-cam videos teaching sewing. I've used it for specific skills like installing a zipper for example. Just get a sewing machine and start experimenting!

Some 20 years back there was huge orders to stitch all the cloth bits of 15cmx15cm of various designs. No question asked which cloth what design. Then were exported. These were taken as a photo print design and used to make new bed spreads. The master design is the stitched cloth.
That nail colour being on point with the fabric is so satisfying to look at 🥰

I really love this style in velvet. The differet lights with the nap make it look much more interesting than just using denim or something! And love the gold velvet. Its warm gold. Not yellowish! I have some velvet clothing. Oh I have sued pants and cordoy skirt. I think anything with a nap would be good.
