Wait so if my baby is always looking to the right or leaning to the right and sleeping on the right side of her head is that left or right torticollis? I apologize I’m just confused which muscle is tight
amutinyinheaven not necessarily....downs syndrome babies have flat head alot of the time....it gets worse when they have to hospitalized and the hospital only does the back to sleep rule....
Being cramped up in the womb for so long can cause torticollis. This is about the muscles in the neck being restricted, causing baby to always lay head in the same direction. Which then causes one side of the head to be flat or mishaped. Babies have to have physical therapy for months sometimes years to correct the neck.
Hi! My son has torticollis, too. He’s 18 months old now. Does physical therapy still work with him now?
Hope you will feedback soon!
Thank you!

It can be very confusing. Hard to assess from comments. An easier way to identify is to know which side is preferred and stretch to the opposite side
