Note to all podcasters: if you want to see a spike in views, have Bill Burr as a guest. Bill always delivers. And his fans can’t get enough of him. Speaking for myself personally, that is definitely the case.
I’m not a patriots fan whatsoever but Irsay really is the biggest crybaby in sports. Also, no one gives shit to Peyton Manning for doing HGH… he was old and recovering from neck surgery so I dont hold it against him, but him claiming that it was for his wife is fucking laughable, and yet NO ONE talked about it. Imagine if Brady had been caught with HGH and he claimed it was for Giselle? Never would’ve lived it down
1983 76ers was an unreal team! Really underrated now… Moses at his peak (one of the very best centers ever); Dr J was not at his peak but still in his prime; Andrew Toney before injuries was a monster and would turn it up in big moments; Cheeks was a very good PG and one of the best perimeter defenders in the league; Bobby Jones is one of the GOAT defensive players and also one of the GOAT role players (he was an All-Star so you can call him more than “just” that even), and he was still doing his thing off the bench; Iavaroni and Clint Richardson were solid rotation/bench players ……..
I don't disagree, but that team literally lost to the Michael Ray Richardson led New Jersey Nets the following year in the 1st round, with basically the same team. How does that Happen??
@@Riles3152 I’d say it was mostly because of Moses.. he wasn’t quite the same as he had been from 1979 til 1983! Now the reason for that? Can’t really tell, but it was most likely because he FINALLY got over the hump, winning a championship. Malone was not even 30 at that point and I don’t believe he was dealing with any MAJOR injury… But yeah, he was a 3x MVP, had plenty of years of playing like a beast, had led a Rockets team to the Finals that had no business being there, then went to Philadelphia and they finally win a ring, while he was playing like a man possessed, wrecking everything in sight (and they only lost ONCE in the whole Playoffs). By that point he got pretty much everything he could in the NBA... Afterwards, Andrew Toney dealt with career ending injury and was forced to retire early; players like Dr J and Bobby Jones got older; league had many great teams and stars; Eastern Conference was loaded; Boston was still doing their thing til like 1987/1988; Pistons were emerging as a contender; Bucks never got to the Finals but were a great team from the early 80’s til 1987 or so………. Plus, the Nets also presented matchup problems for the 76ers in 1984… Still, main thing - imo - was Moses Malone. He had crazy longevity and was still great following their championship run.. but he was never the same hungry beast, never quite at that same amazing level, after 1983… And can’t even blame him, for a lack of a better term. Like I’ve said, man had like 5 seasons of playing at a tremendous level while giving it his all and playing some of the most physical basketball ever seen!
I’m a late adopter but I have become a big Bill Burr fan for his stand up. I can see why DP has him on and they get along. Boston fans are crazy. I liked his assessment of the great Sixers teams lining up against the 72-10 Bulls. Moses against Longley goes to Philly, Doc against MJ could be a push, very few could light it up like Andrew Toney and he was fearless. But after that you still had Horace Grant and Steve Kerr for the Bulls and they had a 4th quarter defense that was suffocating. The wing span of Jordan and Pippen out front was very intimidating when they dialed it up. That team was so 12 deep solid that the following year at the draft they basically told the league “we’re good” and wanted to pass on drafting anyone, which the league overruled. But I loved that Sixers team and I was a big fan of Bobby Jones so it would have been a helluva series. Good call Bill.
I’m a chargers fan so I hated the whole Patriots run, but honestly looking back on it now, a 6th round draft pick of whom nothing was expected, took a historically losing franchise to 6 Super Bowl victories. It’s an amazing story
Luckily the Steelers dynasty was before my day. However, at a certain age, after playing sports myself, I became enamored with the game itself and all the great players. I was fortunate to see so many tremendous players (from teams I hate) just to see the best do what they do. While I HATE the Patriots, we all got to live a real moment in time. It will never get better than Brady-Gronk-Belichek. We are all lucky to have seen such greatness.
I respect Billy boy's down-to-earth temperament. Dude lives out here with all the plastic, lizard-people of SoCal and the guy navigates it all with ease. I'm glad he finally got his due, even if it was a little later in life.
@FilonisHat - Bill Burr is so good, so funny, and so honest. If it's not honest it can never be the other two. I walked a crowd in 1 song as a musician in ‘00. I had been a professional musician since ‘92 and had never attempted to bomb. I covered Radiohead’s ‘fake plastic trees’ on an acoustic guitar and sang just enough off to make people think it was a sad/pathetic performance. I had to hold it in while 180 paying audience walked out in quick order. Played professional for 23 years and 2,500 shows. That was it was worth it to do it once just to see what it would be like. Sometimes personal goals are weird.

Took them out of the AFC East and made a cupcake division for them, relocated and expansion teams, all in warm weather cities so Manning never had to play in the cold. His played 8 games a year in a fking dome, and at least 4 in warm climate cities. If they had stayed in the East, he never would have had the wins he ended up with.
