I'm wondering why in these dramas, the FL is surprised about consumating the marriage. Is it taboo in Asian culture for a couple to be intimate right after they marry? I'm American but from other cultures. Even arranged arranged marriages get consumated on the night of the wedding.
No no these are modern versions of the ancient world in Asin dramas.U seriously think that the ancient patriarchal societies all over the world would have concept like consent in marriage.

What she wanted was to divorce him immediately and leave with her gifts. Also back then brides were kind of uneducated about sex lol. Pei tricked her though and cut his finger to produce the blood so she thought they did. They are both schemer and both have their own agenda at this time and it was not "sex". She wants gone and he needs her to stay for now as a political pawn.
To be fair, I don’t think it’s a topic that they speak to daughter’s about. (In the old times) The first time I asked my mom about a period she was trying to explain to me very awkwardly. So imagine trying to explain that activity lol! I think they just leave it to the husband to show. Of course it’s probably more exaggerated in dramas.
