That is certainly a nice looking pen, and at an affordable price, but I'm usually not the kind of guy that goes for the real sparkly kind of pen. And then there are times where one catches my eye and my imagination! The one that did that for me is this years Goulet Pen Limited & Exclusive collaboration with Franklin-Christoph, the Model 31 - Ascension Wing which gives me more of a space kind of vibe. And yes, I ordered one.

Damn, I need to learn how to do anodizing. That Ensso looks incredible. At some point I'll be getting my titanium Modern Fuel pen (thanks for penabling me) that I want to experiment with.
I have several videos where I show how it's done
Metal on Plastic threads, keep some pen silicone grease on the threads to reduce friction and wear.
One still needs to be careful starting the threads.

I have a few Nahvalurs, 2 Schuylkills & a Horizon & love them! I only wish that they offered their nibs in extra fine. Although I would probably be tempted to buy more & that would probably be bad... 😂 😂 😂
Same for me, fortunately, their F nibs are fine enough for me. Also they're the only F nibs in my collection that never clog or dry with shimmering inks 😬

I love how Nahvalur pens look, but the Schuylkill and Nautilus I got all had nib issues out of the box. I'd like to get more from them, but that makes me hesitant
I have 7 Narwhal pens already and 3 spare nibs and 0 issues, in fact, Narwhal F nibs are the best for shimmering inks in my collection.

I have several Nahvalur pens, and all have interesting and original design elements and terrific colors. After that appalling, unfounded and threatening episode from the hotshots at TWSBI I will never buy another pen from them, even if they have solved their plastic cracking problem and figured out that you cannot sue someone for copyright infringement on something that TWSBI has no right on, that was developed in another continent, NOT by TWSBI, who stole the design themselves, and if it had ever been copyrighted that expired long ago. Also, TWSBI has no right to dictate to retailers who else's items they can or cannot sell. Bullying has no place in as small a world as pen collecting. So no, TWSBI, we are through. And your semi-transparent barrel pens are ugly.

The blind cap on mine has stripped. I used a bit of clear acrylic to build up the threads and it closes again. Be careful with the threads, I'm still not sure what I did to strip the threads I never felt it cross thread or over tighten. But I guess metal and plastic have this risk. In spite of this its still one of ny favourite pens. Love the nib on it.
I own both nahvalur and twsbi pens.
Here are my thoughts.
Bot companies offer a high level of fit and finish. That being said, I think that a twsbi is a better deal for the following reason:
Twsbi uses industry standard nibs. You can friction fit any #5 or #6 (depending on the model of pem) jowo or bock nib with no problems.
In my experience, this is not the case with a nahvalur; as an example a #6 bock (bock 250) will friction fit into my nautilus, but the radius of the feed and housing are different enough that the tine gap is altered to the point where the nib won't write or take adjustment properly.
Obviously, this won't be a big deal to many people, but I consider it to be a downside of the brand- you are pretty much stuck with nahvalur or moonman nibs. I think that one of the advantages of most fountain pens having industry standard nib dimensions is the ability to make a pen you already like suit you even more. I put a bock titanium nib in my vac700r and enjoy the pen a lot more now (aside from that stepdown).
I like my nautilus a lot. It is a comfortable pen to use, and while the nib writes extremely well for a stiff steel nib it took me a few hours to get it adjusted properly - it is a broad and the tine gap was so tight it took some pressure to get it to leave a line that I'd expect out of a narrow medium. I've heard that QC on the nibs have gotten better since then, and other than that the fit and finish on the rest of the pen is excellent - but I would like the pen even more if I could put a different nib in it- I've got quite an assortment of #6 nibs that would be nice to use in it.

Nahvalur pens are awesome pen for the price, I love original plus I have.
I’d go with the Nahvalur, only because I don’t think there is a way, statistically, for it to crack as inevitably as a TWSBI.
Twsbis haven't had cracking problems in years. This is just bullshit that people parrot without having any actual evidence.
I really like Narwhal pens (the Dragonet is my EDC), But I would buy a TWSBI Iris if they were more reasonably priced at 60-70eu.

If you haven’t tried the twsbi vac 20 inkwell with your 700r you really should. It’s a very pleasant experience. It’s like a super full every time. I want to try and figure out how to make a lid for it for my 823 and asvine v126.
I have a Vac 700R Iris, and I can't really help notice how similar the two pens look. Though for me, I think that a perfectly clear body on a demonstrator is desirable, in order to get a better view of the ink. I do think this one has a slightly more interesting nib design / color then the iris, though.
I also like having the pen not all the way full, so the ink can slosh around. I think it adds to the pen's looks, and adds a "customization" with the ink that's put in. Also found it handy when inking with glittery ink, so that there can be some movement of the ink to help re-incorporate the glitter evenly.
Great pen, although the colorway is not my cup of tea. How about a plain one like the original Original? 😅

@@Doodlebud That was a funny turn of events... and a good instructional video on pen maintenance. Personally, I find the Nahvalur more intriguing due to the massive step down on the Vac-700R. I tried my daughter's and while it's not as irritating as I thought it would be, it's not nothing.

I own like a dozen and have never had a problem. The body breakage that I suspect you've never actually personally experienced hasn't been a problem in years. THERE'S NO NEED TO SHOUT LIKE A BOOMER, EITHER.
I'm a TWSBI antagonist but I also like facts, the cracking issue is only notorious because of the number of fanboys TWSBI has, not because It really happens that much. I've never actually met in person a cracked TWSBI owner, I've seen that only on online communities.

I have a nahvalur Schulkyll and find it a piece of junk. The piston is sloppy and seems to have two setting only - intake , or gush it all out except the bottom 3/8, which is a pain to clean. Ink also gets stuck in the gap between the section and where the nib/feed goes in. Plus, it dries up way too fast. And with the way the piston functions you dont have enough control to push a bit of ink into the feed. And I find the nib dry. I would never buy another.

Esterbrook JR but vintage, not modern, IMHO modern Esterbrook pens are way overpriced.

Thank you for the review! Nahvalur nibs are actually jowo, not in house. Or they're a 1 to 1 copy. The housing is a little different to accommodate the o rings though. Been looking forward to a doodlebud review of this original plus. Was curious to see if you had any issues with ink staining. Guess not!
I am pretty sure nib's are made from Asvine the are identical in size and compatibility, even vacuum filler are 1 on 1
Navhalur in house nibs are Asvine rebranded nibs and not only that!😂

I like my Nahvalur pens but I say the same thing. Between the boxing, swappability of parts with some Chinese brands, ink staining on white plastics, failing nib housing threads etc im pretty sure they're made in the same place as other Chinese models

I would go with the Twsbi, Nahvalur pens are sturdier but I don't like their nibs.
This looks like a copy of another company's product. It looks like a serious design theft.
The Nahvalur original plus product I bought also reminds me of Twisbi... The bigger difference is that Nahvalur is not durable. When you put in ink, the ink permeates the transparent barrel or grip, so the color doesn't come out easily, or the intermediate connection rubber ring easily falls out...
Twsbis stay wet and write every time. Nahvalurs do not.
This pen reminds me a little of Franklin Christoph M2 pens where one version has cracked patterns on the body and Cathedral "glas" on the top of the cap. There is also a version with an ice like body. Very nice pens with great nib choices also more expensive than this Nahvalur! I have no vac filling pen so I feel a little unsure about that. Time will tell if I take the plunge! 😇🩷🙏🙌
