Cocoa shimmer is for sure the perfect match for your Benu Earl Grey pen! I, too, don’t go out of my way to only match inks and pens…but it is, undoubtably, sooo satisfying when you do happen to have the perfect match. ❤
Love your format! I always look forward to how you bring them all together with a theme. The BPC Magnolia Mirage - oh my! The purple haloing is what dreams are made of!
diamine cocoa shimmer is instantly on my wishlist!! lovely selection of pens and inks and a very clever theme to tie them all together (a storm is BREWING! brilliant!)
I completely agree with your Kakuno comments. This month I inked up three of my starter pens to compare them - my Pilot Kakuno, my Platinum Plaisir, and my Sailor Tuzu. Of the three, the Kakuno was the least expensive and the best writer of the bunch - and the most comfortable to write with. Don't get me wrong; I like all three of the pens, but if I had to pick just one, it would be the Kakuno. And thank you for sharing your inks. I loved the DI Garnet and the RO Monsoon Clouds. Both of these inks are right up my alley. KWZ's Grapefruit would take me out of my comfort zone, but it was stunning. Great video and really nice combination of inks!
blooms and brews is SUCH a cute name for the theme and it's really similar to the theme I went with for May, too (I'm just missing the orange hahah)! Cocoa shimmer could even be like...a black tea with honey in it :D
Cocoa Shimmer looks like a winner! Added to my wishlist! I recently got a Monteverde Regatta with the omniflex nib and it requires a bit of pressure to write and had bad flow. I got a Monteverde replacement nib in broad and I'm really happy with it!
Appreciate your honesty as always!! What a fantastic spread of inks. I absolutely hate pink, only have one in my entire collection (RO Rose Gold Antiqua) but that one is tempting.🤔
I just discovered cocoa shimmer - I got it as a sample from goulet pens - really didn’t like it when I swatched it - thought it was a weird reddish brown - but I liked the name 😜 so decided to put it in my Lamy cream color medium nib pen and it is so wonderful for writing and has such a beautiful metallic sheen to it after it dries So… lesson learned - swatches of an ink are really not representative of how an ink will perform and appear when used in a pen
So true!! I have found some inks to be really great in swatches and when writing they look totally different. Especially with smaller nib sizes, inks will look entirely different!
Any chance you can show us BPC Magnolia Mirage beside Wearingeul's Jane Eyre? Mostly because that's a coordinating color I think you've said you have/like. Usually I use the compare feature but BPC is it's own site and I'm especially interested in MM after seeing you swatch it a few times.
I wish I could send you a photo! The Jane Eyre is a light purple with almost black shading in some places, and the BPC Magnolia Mirage is more of a baby pink with orange shading and purple haloing. They would be a great pair for a pastel pinks and purples!
@@mydandeliondiaries That's precisely why I'd like to see them together! I already have a bottle of JE, I love it, but I'm thinking I should try it in a bigger wetter nib so I can see this near black you speak of. I find it manages to be both subtle AND bold. 💜 I'm always questing for ink color combos for art and your MM swatches so tempt me, but I'm now thinking of getting the inks to mix it, because I imagine then I'd definitely have a trio of colors. I love they share recipes. I didn't know about them before your vids, thank you.
I hear flex nibs need to hit the paper differently, it's hard to articulate it, it was in the discord penposium a few weeks ago I think. Something about matching parallel to the writing line. The end detail is the... tines? of flex must touch simultaneously and evenly, the way most fountain pens work you technically sort of lean harder on one. Maybe try pretending it's a stub nib and see if it's better for you. I prefer the omniflex nibs and my stub nib writing is slightly opposite most people's for the same reason: I have an approximate 30° bone curvature difference in my wrists. Omniflex and freakin' EF shark pens work GREAT for me. I would love to go to a pen show one day and be able to try because at my budget/trouble-odds I can't invest above omniflex $ range in anything I haven't tried out. I suspect it's the shark's hooded EF nibs handling my angle better and so I want to try a vanishing point!
Thank you so much for sharing!! The Pilot VP nibs are AMAZING some of my favorites. The Fine is my ultimate favorite and it is bouncy and so wonderful. I hope you can make it to a pen show to try it out!
I love that you name your monthly color palette. Blooms and Brews is perfect!
Yay, thank you!

I agree! I will definitely re-ink this again, it was so lovely.

Yes! Thank you!
❤❤❤❤ Cocoa shimmer is definitely my favorite! ❤❤❤❤

When the ink matches the body of the pen... uhhg fantastic

LOVE the Kakuno 😊 You should try out Grapefruit! I am always surprised with colors I don't typically gravitate toward.

Thank you!! I love the thought of cocoa shimmer being black tea with honey 💖

Thank you! I am definitely going to look into a replacement nib, the omniflex just gets too much of my energy.

Magnolia Mirage is a lovely pink! But it is PINK haha. I would be tempted to mix it with a red to see what happens to the shading.
BPC Kyanite is absolutely beautiful! If you haven’t thrived that yet. Going to have to go get that magnolia Mirage now- oh shucks lol
Kyanite is a gorgeous blue black!! I was able to "mix" my own with the Atominks to see it and I really liked it.
I've had a similar experience with the FWP pens, cracking plastic! :( I LOVE the Sea Glass pen, been thinking of getting one.
The Sea Glass is gorgeous!
Pink isn’t usually my ink of choice but that Magnolia Mirage is BEAUTIFUL
💕🥰💕
It is lovely!!
I had two jinhaos, but they both just disintegrated into their component parts…I have all the purple twsbi pens… I love the inks you showed here!
Thank you! ❤️️

Where can I get that dragon fly clip?
It is a Brass Bee by Esterbrook. You can get them from Esterbrook directly, or from Goulet Pens www.gouletpens.com/collections/esterbrook-accessories
