And also the lack of nonsense of noodling for 8 minutes on guitar with a laser sound while a sterile backing track plays the same loop over and over again just for the sake of it.... Bad times...
Thanks for posting this... I'd given up on seeing him play w/ real musicians again after 5 or 6 shows of him playing with a tape recorder.... can't beat live Brain! Real instruments for the win!
Thanks for uploading this. When I was 16 years old, I was center stage against the barrier at Riverfront Coliseum for the Led Zeppelin "The Song Remains the Same" tour concert that kicked off their tour here in North America. I watched Jimmy Page beat a double necked guitar down during his solo in "No Quarter". From that day forward, I watched so many guitarist perform live, and none of them beat that performance. Then I watched Buckethead here on TH-cam. Buckethead is lightyears ahead of everyone else. He is my choice for the greatest guitarist of all time. John Bonham (RIP) did his solo "Moby Dick" that night in Cincinnati. And he would agree with me. I hope you all agree with me too. Thanks Buckethead. For all the great performances you have given us. Keep progressing. If that's even possible at this point.
Mark Anderson Depends on what you mean by greatest. No one will ever top Page for playing, song writing, and range of expression. Bucket is very technically proficient, but his range is limited. He may have a slight technical edge on Page as regards speed but that’s about it. But speed isn’t everything. Just ask the great Billy Gibbons
No Spoilers! Ok dude... adding to faves, then watching after I see him in Portland on October 3rd :) Also, thanks for that Soothsayer video... it's without a doubt the best version on youtube thus far.
GREAT SHOW, but... yeah... No Soothsayer!!! After they ditched us so fast I shouted "SOOTHSAYER!! SOOTHSAYER!!!", but... nope. On the way out, some guy said to me, "you know what, they were all hits, from beginning to end... you can't always get completely jerked off". I agreed with him that he had a point, but... seriously, Soothsayer is not only one of his best songs, it's... literally one of THEE Best songs ever written for an electric guitar. So you think he'd know that, and play it. Afterwards, I was wondering if it's one of those things where... an artist is just exposed to their material so much, that they lose interest in it or emotional/energetic appreciation for it. So... I'm trying to learn Soothsayer on guitar right now, and told myself, if this dude doesn't play Soothsayer next time he comes to P-TOWN, I'm going to be playing it in the parking lot for EVERYONE. I brought my Father In Law, made him an immediate fan, and had him amped up. He did become a fan though, so... a small victory. I do think we should all make it a thing, all us Buckthead fans that if he ever leaves a set without playing that song, we should all chant "SOOTH-SAY-ER" at the tops of our lungs... until he bestows on us the encore we all want!!! And what was up with that 35 minute intermission? I was wondering if maybe the venue fucked these guys over, or if not as much people showed up or something... and maybe that's why they treated the audience like shit like that. Anyway, you know the roadie we see in all Buckethead's live videos, with the dreads... he heard me shout "Soothsayer" so he knows now, without a doubt, that shit must be played. The demand is way too high. I just hope he lets Buckethead know people love the shit out of that song. Like I said, it's one of the greatest songs ever written for an electric guitar. Period. If I wrote that shit, I'd play it. It's on some Malmsteen level shit.
I just wanted to apologize for this emotional and imbalanced comment. I'm listening to this podcast right now (th-cam.com/video/8kLDcr23IQw/w-d-xo.html), and I feel like crap for not realizing that this incredibly talented soul is/was having some challenges. I apologize for being demanding of this person and his energy, in terms of energetic expectation, and... I think I just need to count my lucky stars that I got to even see this incredibly talented soul rock out. I told my Father In Law, before we went, "this dude is like the next Hendrix... one of the greatest guitar players alive right now, definitely in the top 10", etc. I mean every word of that. This guy is on some next level shit, and Soothsayer or not, I'm lucky I even got to see him rock out in person. I'm incredibly sorry to anyone if my original comment was ungrateful or unappreciative. I sincerely, deeply apologize.
Bill, Checking to see if you'll be posting an 'Act 2'...hoping to catch some video the 'Toy Exchange' last night when my daughter gave Buckethead the stuffed chicken that he made 'dance' on stage at the end. Her first Buckethead show at 13 and she was beside herself because she didn't think he'd like her toy as much as he did.
No worries, brother...judging from where you were shooting this video I think she was just about right next to you. I hadn't expected a 'pit' to open us behind us during the second half of the concert.
Daniel McGuire yeah she was right next to me! I wanted it as well because my son got an action figure kind of like hers! That was an amazing chicken dance!
Glad to hear your son got an action figure also...and I'm sure you would have loved to have had it on video. Great show and I appreciate your posting 'Act 1'.
This was a better show than the Co Springs show. The crowd was a bit abnoxious and it took away from the show somewhat. Glad you got such great audio!!
When I play Buckethead my brain melts and everything I do afterwards I forget I'm not playing guitar anymore. I tried to plug my laptop in to charge and looked for the volume knob to make sure it didn't give too much feedback when. Before I started typing this sentence I looked for a pick because I "didn't want to deal with fingerpicking".
Great show... of course. I think they brought Something Else to the Portland show... There was more ad-libbing, kinda felt like they were on some Zappa shit. But yeah... we didn't get Soothsayer, either!
Rig: Gibson les paul, EVH 5150 III Head, Marshall Cab, Pedals: Vox wah, MXR Phase 90, Digitech Synth Wah, Line 6 FM4 Filter Modeler, Digitech Whammy Line 6 POD HD500 has all of those effects in it, except for the Digitech Synth Wah, but it will save you some money :p
I dig what I'm hearing...What am I hearing? Are these Jazz guys jamming under a chicken bucket? are these different guys or girls under the same wig bucket? lol I like it!!! just don't know wtf it is!!! or why I like it. Maybe that's what I'm posta do. lmao
On Fire and tight as hell...the dynamics of playing with Brain and Brewer in a band setting again is undeniably beautiful!
And also the lack of nonsense of noodling for 8 minutes on guitar with a laser sound while a sterile backing track plays the same loop over and over again just for the sake of it.... Bad times...
37:40 and onward, this is where he shines!
love how Brain plays the drums, love Buckethead and Brain play together
Did anyone recognize at 43:09 Bucketboss plays the riff from the song "Ever"..?! Just love it when he plays that part..!!
I loved it how Brain recovered after that little slip up in Gory Head Stump! Awesome show.
Thanks for posting this... I'd given up on seeing him play w/ real musicians again after 5 or 6 shows of him playing with a tape recorder.... can't beat live Brain! Real instruments for the win!
first time seem him!!! what a fantastic show !!!! no words can describe it!!!! amazing!!
Buckethead was phenomenal as usual, but Brian was the shit! Had the privilege of being at this show and it was amazing!
Glad you got this! Best performance of the Colorado run for me!
Wish he still played with a band a million times more appreciated
Thanks for uploading this.

I agree, Bucket never misses a beat and I fucking love the guy but he will never create what page did
Yay! Buckethead and Brain are back together!
Brain and Buckethead, a match made in heaven!
Thanks you so much Bill
Thanks so much for this. Minute 19 so gorgeous.
No Spoilers! Ok dude... adding to faves, then watching after I see him in Portland on October 3rd :) Also, thanks for that Soothsayer video... it's without a doubt the best version on youtube thus far.

Daniel McGuire the iPhone was taking dark video in the second act and the rowdiness behind me somehow shut the camera off without me realizing it. ☹️

Loved the gig. :) It was a joke though how they dimmed the stage lights down so drastically mid-gig......
Thanks, Bill! 😃🍻
