I like how the snare rolls at the beginning of, “children of the regiment.” And the acoustics while they’re going back down Sheet Street are fantastic

Hi Charlotte, and thanks for the comment! The narrow streets with high buildings certainly give a great acoustic, as long as it's not too windy. Crowds tend to absorb the sound though, as well as making noise of their own!
Your favourite spectator was definitely there, although I can't immediately see her in my compiled video.

Great Job on the Video Mike! It's a different view than from others, we usually only see them from either side Marching up Sheet St. Your Head on Camera work, gives another Dimension. The Band of the Grenadier Guards Bass Section sounds Fantastic with the Strong Bass Trombones & 2x Eb Tubas. Th Sound as they came through the Arch & out of VB (seen on another Video) was Excellent, The Mareth Line has a couple of Places where the Bass Section takes a Starring Part. The 2nd March, With Sword and Lance (Mit Schwert Und Lanze) Sounded Particularly Good today, this Band has a beautifully Balanced Sound, with all sections getting the Chance to shine at various time, without any significant loss of sound from the others. Fantastic!
The Grenadier Guards Band are Led by the Incomparable SDM Gareth Chambers MVO. He truly is a Pleasure to Watch, the little "Extras" he incorporates, makes the Flow of his Performances a Perfect Display of Elegance & Style to Music. A Bandsman I was talking to about it explained that the Timing of his directions are done Purposely & are designed to blend with the Music, his Signalling Hand Flourish at the Completion, always timed to Perfection to Coincide with the End of a Bar of Music. These things are not part of his Training, nor are they part of his Job Description. What they are is the Additions of a Confident Man, who believes that what he does is an extension of the Musical Support Experience. These "Extras" he adds, don't detract from the Music or draw the Attention towards him, they Blend together, to create a total Military Music Experience.
Just before they Wheel into Castle Hill, they Break into one of my Favourite Marches, Children of the Regiment. It Starts off Majestically, with a Very Continental European Flavour, almost a Fanfare, then it becomes the Sort of Music that sounds to me like you'd hear in the Background of a Movie Scene where's there's a Crowd of Mischievous little Children running about. That to me is a Good piece of Music, no matter what type, it conjures up Mental Imagery. A pity they ran out of room to play it Longer. Who is that Man Up a Ladder? I know the Crowds can be a bit Dense in Castle St & there's a Sea of Mobile Phones, but a Ladder? How Bizarre. I noticed a Lack of Roadworks on Sheet St & even Castle Hill wasn't as Cramped & the Gap between the Band & the New Guard formed of Officers & Guardsmen from The Coldstream Guards, was back to Normal, as they Marched through the Henry Vlll Gate & into the Castle.
There's that Strong Bass Section again, as they go down the High St, to the March Vimy Ridge. The Old Guard of the Welsh Guards, follow the DM & Band as they Sweep out of the High St & Down Sheet St & the Barracks, to To Your Guard. Which is possibly not the most appropriate March Selection for the Old Guards returning to Barracks, but I don't know of a March, To your Cup of Tea or To Your Beer. But to the immortal Words of "Old Mr Grace" (Are you being Served) " You All Did Well, didn't they?, You All Did very Well!".
No need for Apologies at all Mike. We know you're Just Starting out, Besides, this if far better than some of your very early Videos & you have no Control over Aircraft Noise & inconsiderate Spectators or Police Vehicles. The Police Cars usually travel behind The Band & Detachment of Guards, reversing back into the High St & waiting while the New Guard March into the Castle, then tagging on the Back of the Old Guard. Today the went before the Band entered the High St, Successfully blocking the view of anyone between them & the Barracks. Your Sound is Good & to be honest, I didn't even Notice any Jet Noise. When everyone else didn't Block your Camera, the Video was really Good, with the Odd bit Bordering on Brilliant.
It's nice to know that Spirit of Community that exists between the Regulars of the Proper Channels for Guard Changes, also Exists between you Channel Owners & you Help each other Too.
Thanks ffor Sharing your Windsor Adventures Mike! Much Appreciated.

Hello Vicky! You mentioned one of my favourite Sitcoms to watch! "Are you being Served?" I love Old Mr. Grace! And Captain Peacock! Of course one can't forget Mrs. Slocombe! "I am Unanimous in that!" Lol! Anyways, I'll go back to naming marches!

Hi Vicky, I'm glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the informative and understanding comments. I can't complain about factors over which I have no control, such as aircraft and wind noise, vehicle movements and suchlike. As for the volume of crowds, they have at least as much right as me to be there, as long as they behave considerately, and at my age I'm not going to start running through the crowds in the way the much younger, more agile and athletic filmers do so well. Although I'm not exactly a marathon runner, I can thankfully move very fast in open spaces, but to do that through crowds of erratic people you need the "reactions of a cat" - I'm more like a charging rhinoceros! Plus I've already had 2 hours of that with the train journeys before I've even got to Windsor.
No, where I do have to beat myself up is where I've messed up things which are in my own control. At the beginning, I got so involved in chatting to other spectators that I didn't get up to my normal filming position in time for the band starting out from the barracks, and what I did film was so shaky that I had to cut the first 30-odd seconds off when making my compiled video. Also I tried to film some of the "Luftwaffe March" near the end but because of the sun in my eyes I couldn't see the screen properly to start it.
It was a pleasant surprise yesterday to find that the roadworks had largely gone - I really feared that they'd be there for a lot longer. That makes the views so much better and, as you say, makes it so much easier for the Guards to keep in step and distance with the band.
The man with the ladder is one of the regular filmers, and it's an ingenious solution to get better views. I do like to have a chat with them all face-to-face, although of course we're all rushing around in our own separate directions.

Another fabulous video. I gather you make significant efforts in order to make and provide these videos so that we can get to see and hear these fabulous sights and sounds from afar, so thank you very much indeed. Most appreciated 😊

Thanks for the comment, AnnofWales21! Yes it does take quite a bit of time and effort, but I regard it as a "retirement hobby" and something to take my mind off other more mundane chores and aspects of life. I've been interested in military bands and music from about the age of 6, from listening to my long-gone father's old vinyl records - he was in the RAF. I started playing brass instruments when I was about 11, and played in various brass bands, on and off, for about 40 years (but was never in the military myself). Obviously my main interest in the videos is the bands, players, instruments and music, but when I first started watching the various others' videos on TH-cam I kept seeing comments about the videos just showing the band and not the Guards, so I try to make sure I show the Guards as well (even though that sometimes sacrifices some of the music).
Things got more difficult last November because I used to drive to Windsor which was only a 20-mile journey taking about 45 minutes but then had to surrender my driving licence because of long-running eyesight issues. Now I have to go by train, which takes typically about 2 hours and involves 4 different trains, with the first one actually going about 12 miles in the opposite direction! It also requires a keen eye on the weather forecasts, because if it rains they can cancel the band, and sometimes even the Guards themselves, at virtually no notice.

@@MikeM14-40 wow, it really is a labour of love then, to go through all that! But lucky us in our armchairs that you do it, thank you. I’ve only been to Windsor once, decades ago and a monkey tried to steal my necklace! Sadly there was no marching band that day to compensate😎

Hello Mike! I do hope you are keeping well! I thought I spotted you on the other Channels! So I was waiting for your video, and as always you certainly never disappoint! If you're interested the original name for "With Lance and Sword" is "Mit Schwert Und Lanze". Some powerful Bass Trombone today! On a different note, It's always wonderful to see the SDM leading with his great swagger!

Hello Delvin! Thanks for the comment. Yes, I'm keeping reasonably well, although somewhat exhausted by the long and complicated railway journeys. I feel like a marked man if I was spotted - I try to keep a low profile and try to keep out of other peoples' way particularly when it's so crowded! I did briefly meet a number of the regular filmers (channel-owners) yesterday and think it's good to touch base briefly with them face-to-face even though we're all rushing around in our own directions.
It was a pleasant surprise yesterday to see that the worst of the roadworks had gone.
I think that having 2 bass trombones like this gives the sound reassuring "gravitas" - I hope that's the right word!
Thanks for the original name of the march - I'll add that into my reference list. It's an interesting point as to what's the best "protocol" when naming the marches which have an original non-English name (mainly German) - I've not been very consistent in my approach up to now. Probably best that I *do* always include the original name, after the "English" name, as you do, so I'll add them into my list as I see them.

@@MikeM14-40 Hello Again Sir Mike! Glad to hear Sir is doing well! I can only imagine Sir is quite exhausted after all the traveling. Haha, Sir was indeed "spotted"! Needn't worry, I won't reveal Sirs identify! Shhhhhh.
The Bass Trombones certainly give the Band more sense of Grandeur! Happy to provide the Original name of the march! I always like to add them to my list, as others might know it by that name. It also adds more interest to the list. I think! Have a wonderful rest of your week Sir!

Hi@@delvinrodriguez3341 , thanks Delvin! Unfortunately the rest of this week doesn't look very promising weather-wise, but it gives me the opportunity to catch up on all the less-pleasant things that get pushed aside with the pleasure of the Windsor visits - looking after my house, finances, various "admin", etc.
