Mallet finger is a lesion of the extensor tendon (rupture) in the distal interphalangeal joint of the finger, and is sometimes associated with fracture. It results from hyperflexion of the distal joint (eq when a ball hits an outstretched finger and jams it, or finger crushed in the door).
Being able to find out what has happened to my finger, makes me glad TH-cam has the answer. Thank you for your video!

I have NO symptoms whatsoever, no pain inflammation tenderness swelling etc. after sustaining the injury, but it's obvious it's a mallet finger.
Is the tendon stretched or torn? What does this mean?
I have no insurance so that's why I'm asking for advice. Thanks!
Ive had a mallet finger for my pinky for 12 years and im in so much pain im considering surgery but im afraid it wont work or I wont be able to move my finger. But this person can put it in a fist. I have arthritis and hoping this will fix it. Appreciate feedback

@@naseema7918 after 12 weeks they took the splint off and my finger stayed straight. It has worked normally ever since.

@@naseema7918 21 days is not long to repair your injury.
You have to put a support on immediately after the injury. The longer you leave it the worse it can get. Then you keep the support on CONSTANTLY for 10 to 12 weeks. It should be fixed by this time. If it's not repaired, you might need surgery to fix it.

Bună am aceeași problemă 2 luni în urma mi-am fracturat degetul și imediat am mers la doctor mia pus mîna in ghips pentru 1 săptămâna lam scos și nu sa îndreptat am stat o luna și nu are rezultate deloc
Întrebarea e dacă mai pot sa îl îndrept să-mi recuperez degetul am 16 ani și pentru vârsta mea nu e normal
Bună! A fost o eroare să dai jos imobilizarea la 1 săptămână. În mod normal trebuie ținută 6 săptămâni. Știu că pare greu, dar acum va fi și mai greu dacă dorești să-l recuperezi. Foarte greu. Dar nu imposibil

La o rana mai veche se mai poate face ceva?
Mult mai greu și depinde de ce a fost lezat
Nu dati banii pe operatie, se rezolva cu orteza, degetul sa stea in sus

Cu orteză specială se rezolva cazurile într-o proporție de peste 50%. NU TOATE. De altfel eu operez și cazurile care au eșuat după purtarea ortezei. Nu este o garanție că totul va fi în regulă după purtarea ortezei. Dacă totul ar fi așa de alb sau negru ar fi simplu. Contează cât și cum este purtată orteza.
Eu am o experiență cu faptul că pacienților le este greu să poarte corect orteza toată perioada recomandată.
Nu am înțeles cum e cu degetul sus! Cum sus?
