Good question! Here's an even more perplexing one: at the time of the lab accident, did your wife cease to exist as an individual, legal person? If so, I'd say the marriage contract is likely legally dissolved as it would be upon death of a spouse. All five would have to enter into a new contract to make it binding...but their ability to do so depends entirely on whether they're considered sentient individuals who can consent to a contract.

This is truly a showcase of all the different characters you can play. Most people can pull off one or two, but five different and distinct voices is amazing!
And what a good way to show off different sides of the same character too. Love when these videos get unique and different.

Honestly? I might be in the minority here but I’d probably put em’ back into one person again. It’s not really “Five Wives” than it is “Five Fifths of One Wife” and just like seperating all the colors of a beautiful painting or all the parts of a wonderful song, having five shattered bits of one awesome Mad Scientist just ain’t as neat as having one whole awesome Mad Scientist. Call me a prude but I’m probably gonna chuck the nerds into the machine so I can have one full nerd again

I don't think I've seen this concept for an audio play anywhere else. Great work, Vanilla!
Although it is true that all five would currently be able to work with their respective skills and strength with better efficiency, not being held back by the rest, there are still few problems, one being the money needed to keep them all dressed, fed + keeping their materialistic desires in check, triples with this decision. And that's not taking in the possibility of children.
Hmm. Interesting thought, but I disagree! Here's my reasoning:
1.) They're all the same size and shape, they can share clothes already in Wife Prime's closet. (I've swapped outfits with friends/family members all the time; it's nbd among girls.)
2.) Five people = five potential incomes. Even if each one only works part time, that's equivalent to two and a half full time paychecks, more than enough to feed them and pay the bills even with a bump in utilities.
3.) I don't think "keeping their materialistic desires in check" is going to be an issue. This is hardly the kind of character who splurges on $1000 designer handbags. It's also established she's not above robbing banks, so. Infinite income!
4.) You definitely want four extra pairs of hands for raising any future kids, especially when they're newborns or toddlers. Extended families who help raise children are very common, this is just a sci-fi take on that. It's basically a non-issue in my view. How the parenting boundaries would work would have to be negotiated, but I imagine it's not impossible with sufficiently open communication.

Is it bad for me to say I’m torn about that decision choice in the end?
On one hand, having multiple parts of my wife would be hard to manage, each having their own needs, and there’s a part of my head like, “I don’t want different parts of you, I want the whole version.”
On the other hand, each are very clearly devoted and the absolute shock to the main professor about this cloning incident would be kinda funny.
That is…surprisingly hard to decide which one to choose.
.... I'd say the true solution is just teaching the original to express her individual parts more

THIS IS SO FREAKING GOOD
This was really cool. One of your best audios ever if you ask me, but I hope you don't mind if I add some feedback. I feel like the ending was a little too open-ended. If I were writing this script I would have had the listener tell them that he fell in love with one woman and all of the flaws that come with her. None of these duplicates are the same woman that he fell in love with. None of them could possibly compare. His wife (wives?) would learn that her different personality traits aren't "flaws," they all compliment each other and make up the woman that the listener loves so much. I dunno, maybe that's a little too sappy, but the thought of the listener letting them destroy the machine so he could have super freaky hot sex with a harem made up of copies of his wife makes me feel... uncomfortable. It would be the shallow thing to do.
See, if I were the Listener, I would feel differently. For me, disregarding their own desires to remain independent and forcing them to recombine strictly for my sake would feel selfish, unethical and akin to murdering five sentient creatures for the sake of one that’s already, for all intents and purposes, dead.
Frankly, if I couldn’t handle remaining in a relationship with five of them for whatever reason (I think it would be an adjustment for me but ultimately I could deal with it) I would rather divorce and let them live their lives how they want instead of violating their agency. If you love someone-really, truly, deeply love someone-sometimes you feel the need to do what’s best for them even if it represents a sacrifice on your part. After all, the duplicates are clearly willing to do so for the Listener.
And that difference of opinion between us is exactly why I left the script so open ended. Some listeners would want their sole wife back, some wouldn’t, whether for wacky harem hijinks, ethical considerations or other, uh...spicier reasons. 😅 The open ending makes the story far more interesting to think about, which is my favorite part of science fiction. Plus, each listener can imagine the ending they want that they’re most comfortable with! Win/win. 😄
Oh boy...I know this is probably a huge mistake...but gods help me, I know I'd totally try it out if my partner wanted to.

Just to posit an idea, you could have a story that involves antics if they stay split, or an ending where the listener would rather have their albeit flawed but wonderful-for-them wife back?
