- TL494 PWM IC, Datasheet & Function Explained. it is pulse width modulation controller ic used to drive push-pull, half bridge and buck regulator topologies.
TL494 device incorporates all functions required in construction of a pulse-width modulation (PWM) control circuit on a single chip. TL494 contains two error amplifiers, an on-chip adjustable oscillator, a dead-time control (DTC), a pulse-steering control flip-flop, a 5 V, 5%-precision regulator, and output-control circuits. The dead-time control comparator has a fixed offset that provides approximately 5% dead time. oscillator can be bypassed by terminating RT to the reference output and providing a sawtooth input to CT, or it can drive the common circuits in synchronous multiple-rail power supplies. output transistors provide either common-emitter or emitter-follower output capability. The TL494 device provides for push-pull or single ended output operation, which can be selected through the output-control function.

ja SG-3525 ist das gleiche ic, das von 100Hz bis 400KHz arbeitet,
Dieser TL494 arbeitet jedoch von 1 kHz bis 300 kHz (und seine Schaltfrequenz ist halb so hoch, wenn wir Pin 13 mit VRef verbinden).
Es gibt einen weiteren Unterschied, dass TL494 einen Open-Collector- und Open-Emitter-Ausgang haben
SG-3525 hat jedoch einen Totempfahlausgang
(Es wird mit Google Übersetzer übersetzt, möglicherweise ist es ein Fehler bei der Übersetzung in die deutsche Sprache.)
yes SG-3525 is same ic that works from 100Hz to 400KHz,
but this TL494 works from 1KHz to 300 KHz (and its switching frequency is half when we connect pin 13 to VRef)
there is another difference that TL494 have open collector, open emitter output
but SG-3525 have totem-pole output
(it is translated using google translator, might be sime error in tranlating to German language)

How does the the comparator work between 2 input : Error amplifier (1,2 and 15,16) and oscillator? what's the action of the IC to control the duty cycle? how can it drives a driver (ex : TLP250) to increasing or decreasing the duty cycle, so the output of the buck converter maintain a stable set point? I hope you can explain it with the video explaination. Barakallah
What is the range of duty cycle ? Can it change voltage how much ? 230 to 110v ? 300 to 50v ? I bought a grid tie inverter for usa and it came with higher European volrage. All it had to go between usa and European was a jumper and a 10k resistor that wasn't soldered fully to the board. They told me where it was and it works fine now.

I get a real good question can the Ic automatic adjust its duty cycle when load is connected to like say a inverter to keep the ac volt at a stable output can the Ic do that ????
exactly yes. ic must have to adjust duty cycle in 2 conditions
1. if load changes
2. if input voltage change
in both cases, ic will adjust duty cycle to provide regulation

Hello, dear brother, I have a 12V 30A power supply whose power transistors are 2sc2625. It was broken, and because I couldn't find that model, I used the large package transistor l13009. sure. it is basically the gain adjustment of feedback error amplifier. so we select a resistor which will suitable to create a relation between the output voltage and switching of the controller
TL494 is a voltage mode control, therfore the open loop gain will observe a -40dB slope which make it difficult to compensate. At least a feedback compensator type 2 or best would be type 3 to keep the loop stable. Great work for tutoring others.

I have inverter( 12v dc to 220v ac ) using this ic, but the output hertz reaches 100Hz not 50 hertz but volt output is correct (220v), how can I solve this problem???

please check its RT/CT values. may be these components at pin 5 & 6
and check 5 volt reference at pin number 14. if more than 5v, replace IC.
or calculate and adjust RT & CT values for push pull 50 Hz operation
