I made it to my elderly age with a baby face. My thought is that it gives a youthful look, or rather it continues to give a youthful look. Im 75. When ppl speculate on my age, it is ALWAYS 20 years younger. I almost always hear "Whaaaat??" LOL! I think "my youth" comes from fat holding up the structure. I believe had I removed it in youth, I wud look my stated age. I wudnt do this procedure but thats my choice. Some of the girls, when they're my age, may have regrets and want to go back for repair. Yikes! 😉 ⚘❤⚘
Why didn’t you talk about Bella the same way you walked through most of the celebrities? You seemed to throw shady comments about Bella. Be respectful next time otherwise we’re gonna start speculating that you discriminate against her because of her origin.
I think what's scary about this surgery is that once that fat is gone, it's gone forever. So if the result doesn't go the way you wanted, you're basically screwed.
That is the case with most surgeries, though. When you change your nose, it is forever. Even if you augment your breast, which is kind of "reversible," it will not be the same when you remove the implants.
@@cenrich true. Even something as simple as undereye/tear trough filler. Once you put the filler in, stretch the skin, and fill the cavity, it'll look a bit deflated when dissolved.
@@JayneNicoletti It’s one thing to have fat in excess and another to not have enough. Many people look MUCH better after buccal fat removal, otherwise nobody would do it. Aging is another problem entirely.
@@mcxo2774 removal of buccal fat ages people quickly. The reason you want it for later is because your face thins as you age. With the fat there your skin won't start to hang as quickly.
Yes, she always comes across as kind and motherly. Her perspective is unique cos of her lived experience, and needless to say, the production and entertainment value of her videos is up there with the very best on this subject.
FAT/SOFT TISSUE IS SUPPORTIVE STRUCTURE. Louder for the people in the back. By taking it out you could be taking away facial structure. People don't think of fat this way and it's a problem.
THIS! It applies to a lot of these treatments: fillers, buccal fat, chin implants/reduction, jaw shaving/lengthening, etc. Facial structure isn't something to take lightly when considering these!
I wouldn't have this now anyway, but younger me might have been keen. Lorry's explanation about what cheekbone structure you need for it to look good shows me it would have been a really bad decision. So helpful!
Can confirm just how differently people treat you when you actually look mature. Though I've always been thin, I had a round face until I was about 34, and was chronically mistaken for a teenager. The sheer amount of condescension and dismissal I received was kind of mind-boggling, and it was like a switch flipped when I both quit smoking and hit 35. My face thinned and I finally looked like an adult, and suddenly I was treated with respect and taken seriously. Creepy middle-aged men also quit hitting on me, which was another bonus I had not foreseen. Not being regarded as a piece of meat is fantastic.
I’m 28 and still get mistaken for a teenager and I totally sympathize with all of that. I’m the only one of my friends that is actually looking forward to their 30’s and finally aging 😩
I find it strange that Leah Michelle was so strongly against getting her nose done for all of those years and then did this. Not even about the surgery or results, just the motives are curious. I wonder if she will ever speak out about this someday.
Because her nose is a defining feature of her face and changing it would disrupt her ability to be recognized by the public (which will impact her career… think Jennifer Grey’s nose job or Renee Zellwegger’s upper bleph). It would be unwise to touch the nose after becoming famous but it doesn’t mean Leah is anti plastic surgery.
I remember reading a years ago that she didn't want to get surgery on her nose because it might affect her voice. Idk if this is scientifically accurate or not, but I'm pretty sure Barbra Streisand also didn't get a nose job for that reason
I had a consultation for this about 6 months ago, but didn’t end up picking a surgical date due to competing priorities. Fast forward until now, and I am SO GLAD I didn’t go through with it. The look this gives is too harsh on most people, and this trend has actually helped me love my softer face. Bullet=dodged!
I just realised that Amelia Hamlin is the same age as my sister (21) yet she's aged herself like 15 years because of the buccal fat removal. I don't mean to sound rude, but Amelia's new face is uncanny and almost a bit scary. Like she has zero resemblance to her previous self
Can you do an update on Selena Gomez? Her eyes look almost pinched to me. Idk if it's from cheek fillers, an eyebrow lift, the cat eye procedure, or something else lol. Edited to add: I'm a fan of Selena and I'm not hating on her. But regardless, it's obvious she has had work done lol Edit #2: yes she has lupus and takes meds for it. No, that will not completely change the structure of her face.
@@puffball4484 also, so many people defend her and say her lupus and/or meds changed her face shape. Looking a little puffy from weight gain or water retention is not the same as having completely different features lol
I find this to be a very interesting topic, both myself and my daughter were born with excess bucal fat, and we both recieved partial bucal fat removal in infancy to help with obstructed breathing and allow room for our tongues. I say that to say that, we both still look like chipmunks with full cheeks.
Interesting ! When my twins were preemies the doctors said they had good buccal fat pads which was needed for feeding since it helped with their sucking ability - I can see how too much could also be a problem!
@@VintageVegans babies don't really have much for teeth, so if the cheeks are too big inside their mouths it can make eating hard and push on their tongues. My friend's oldest had to have this operation done as a baby too (and she also still has big cheeks, they only just take out as much as is medically necessary in babies obviously, has absolutely nothing to do with their appearance.)
@Michelle Franck Not for our tongues to sit outside our teeth but to make room for our tongues. If you've ever played the game "Fluffy bunny" with marshmallows, you can get an idea of how excess bucal fat can impact the position of your tongue.
I have a similar face shape to Bella Hadid, and when I was younger I was very self-conscious of the my buccal fat, I wanted my oval face to look more chiseled like the high fashion models. Now, 10-20 years later I have to say I am incredibly thankful for that buccal fat, it makes my face look younger, and eventually my cheeks became more pronounced anyways with age. I get that she did it for her job, and I respect her choice, I would just be cautious about making these decisions when so young.
I also have a similar face shape to Bella. I am 53 and I am thin overall and my cheeks are borderline hollow. What I would give for the same amount of bucal fat I had at 25! I can’t imagine what my face would look like if I had had my buccal fat removed. I do think at some point many of these women will regret having this procedure and there will be some sort of procedure developed to put fat or filler back into that area.
That's so nice to hear! I'm 25 and sometimes I secretly kind of wish I had the means to get just a little of my buccal fat removed. I'd say my face shape is very similar to this as well, and when I don't smile you can definitely see some cheek bone. When I do smile, my whole face turns into the fullest circle though and I always feel it makes me look heavier than I am. I'm happy to hear that as I'll age, my face will likely continue to look more balanced. I've already seen it change a lot from when I was a teen to now, but I like to smile a lot and seeing that specific full moon laugh in pictures often makes me feel insecure.
tbh I'm still reeling from how dirty Doja Cat did you. Love you and your videos and I'm glad you have stayed strong and kept giving us this educational content.
I have a round face. At times I hate how I look in pictures, but I’ve come to terms that is better to embrace my cubby cheeks than to stress on “imperfection.” I’m 18 and I no longer want to hate myself for obnoxious reasons. Round faces are perfect as well as other face shapes 🫶🏻❤ Edit: thanks for all the kind comments. I feel much better and ready to love my round face 🥰🥹
You’re gonna love your round face when you turn 30. I am 34 and most people think i look a bit younger and i think its because my fuller face. 🙂 your fat pads decrease overtime i guess.
@@tatan4939 It's true, my grandma has a rather round face, she's 82 but everyone guesses she's in her late 60s!! And the most beautiful she has ever looked was when she was around 40 to 45, it's true, some faces just get more beautiful with age.
18 is so young. I also always had a round face even though I've always been skinny. But now I "grew into it" and at 30, people think I'm 23-24, and it's thanks to the preserved structure of my face! You're beautiful the way you are 🥰
I love how @lorryhill doesn't jump on TH-cam right away to give her opinion. She takes the time to give an informed opinion and stays true to her opinion.
The dry mouth consequence is HUGE! I don't know if people realize the amount of discomfort from having your mouth be chronically dry. It is one of the worst feelings in my opinion
Meanwhile I've always wanted a rounder fattier face, not just because it can look younger but also because it can look more feminine. I really appreciate Lorry pointing out that a more masculine look on women is also ok 💖
Right? I have high cheek bones and a sharp jaw and i have always HATED it. I always wish i had more soft cute round features 😅 tho seeing these celebrities trying to get the bone structure i have does make me feel better i guess
I'm not familiar with Amelia Hamlin so I had to look up her age. She's 21. TWENTY ONE. Now I feel terrible for her because she would've got the same look (or perhaps slightly less dramatic) just from ageing, and now she WILL age and can't reverse the procedure.
That’s insane!! I just looked her up and it seems to be working for her since she’s in the modeling industry so I guess that’s why people still opt for it knowing the potential risks, beauty trends are wild 😢
I have really full cheeks and I used to hate not having more definition in my face. But seeing this surgery everywhere actually made me appreciate my face shape and youthfulness. My boyfriend even calls me “cheeks.” Because he says they’re cute and loves them. Surgery as a trend has made me appreciate my natural face that much more.
A couple years ago Buccal Fat Removal was popular in Brazil, and now there's so many videos of influencers saying that they regret it. We are just ahead of the curve, those celebs will chance their minds soon
She literally looks like a different person. I'm not familiar with her and seeing the before and after pics is crazy, I never would have guessed they are the same person.
I agree that Margot Robbie aged herself with this procedure. She definitely has a more mature look and it’s getting more prominent as she hits her mid-thirties. It will be interesting to see how she ages.
Lorry, I am so thankful for you making all these videos and educating people on plastic surgery. I have body dysmorphia and ever since I was like 10, I've had a whole list of plastic surgeries I wanted to get done. I know if I had went ahead with it, I would've made a huge mistake. After watching your videos, I've realized I don't want all that surgery. I'm fine the way I am. I appreciate you being so open about your own surgeries as well.
I feel bad for Lea Michelle becoming the go-to thumbnail for who should not have gotten this done 😭 thanks Lorry for saying your piece about when it can actually work very well because it seems like there’s an unnecessary panic over buccal fat removal lately and people just need to be educated in the dos and donts. Good to know I look so young still in my mid 30s because of my prominent buccal fat, but fortunately I like how I look because I definitely don’t have the cheekbones for this 🌝
Lea Michele has so many bullying claims against her. People in the know say she is a very mean person & put others and their appearance down. I wonder if this is a case of karma coming back around.
I was waiting for this. I trust the opinion of someone who's openly had work done, specially your wide-eyed perspective, rather than that of someone who's the "omg no surgery natural Beauty and celebs are demons for lying about the stuff they've changed" kind. I do think it does make a few look OLDER, BUT it depends on a case to case basis as no surgery will give the same result between two individuals. Thats all this peasant can Say.
Also lying about procedures is still bad imo Sure it's your privacy and you don't have to discuss it either. Why not stick to "I do not want to comment on this topic, please respect that" instead of going to extreme lengths to detail how natural your features are, good genes, you don't care but you use makeup etc :(
From all the youtubers that cover the bucal fat topic, you're the only one that is neutral and logical. The others are just borderline bashing the people who done the procedure.
I love what you said that we assume that everyone wants to look younger, but that might not be the case for some people. I really never thought of it this way, and that makes me reflect a little bit on the matter.
Hi Lorry! Could you please do a video about Fran Drescher? She looks like a spectacular mature woman, somehow managing to look young and keeping her natural features unchanged... still looking her age! Thanks ❤️ .
I agree with a lot of the people criticizing this procedure. You can get the same effect with makeup so why do something so permanent? They looked great before the procedure and yes most look great after but as you said there are future consequences and I don't like that so many are feeling pressured into a short term beauty trend and one strict beauty standard.
@@Im_Z_4747 even if you loose weight you can still keep a lot of fat in the buccal area, so you can be very slim but still have ‘chubby cheeks. It can be to do with face structure and how your body stores fat. She literally said this in the video, I guess you didn’t watch it…
you can get the effect with make up on photos or videos, in real life contouring looks obvious and fake, this is 3D, I got it done 3 years ago and looks amazing
@@Im_Z_4747 If I lost 15kg, I would probably end up in a hospital. If you have genetics to store fat on your face, you can be quite thin (lower end of healthy BMI, yeah I know BMI is not always good, but just to make it clear that I'm not talking about slightly chubby people, but actually thin ones) but still have very round face. Of course probably becoming a heroin/anorexia chick would help but that's a bit much.
It's so common now to see a celebrity who doesn't have very prominent cheekbones show up with an inexplicable trench running through their cheeks, I'm wondering especially about Anya Taylor Joy because her face seemed to change quite drastically and the trench is so noticeable, like someone tied a rope around her head and pulled it very tight until there was a permanent indentation.
I was wondering about Anya Taylor Joy too because nobody talking about buccal fat removal has mentioned her, but it looks a lot like she had it… and from some angles it makes her face look a little odd to me.
i used to be so insecure of my rather round shaped face bc it had no definition. i wanted to have prominent cheekbones. however, as i aged, my facial fat gradually disappeared and now my hidden cheekbones are slightly prominent. i rlly think it's the best move not to get surgery at an age when u are still developing bc u never know how ur face is gonna turn out, and buccal fat removal is one of those procedures ppl should be a bit cautious with bc they might not like the results in the long term if they get it a little too early in their life or if they're not a good candidate.
I got it done 5 years ago, and although i do look older and sometimes if im not wearing makeup it does look a bit aging, i don't regret it. I got it done with the right person. And what he told me was that i have good cheekbone projection from bone, so i believe your theory is right. If you don't have a naturally forward projected cheek (from bone) your face just looks flat in the upper cheek area! I think this is very evident from the pictures you showed as well... The most important thing in plastic surgery is not the procedure but the surgeon!!!
That procedure was trendy in Brazil around influencers about like 6 years ago ._. some had problems after and regret it and mostly was dentists doing it
My face is full naturally and I have dropped down to my lowest weight to see my body change and nearly everything except my face, I was so disappointed and confused. When this surgery started to become popular it made me a little more unhappy with my appearance as all the weight I lost I still looked the same on the face. Seeing this video has helped me feel better about not having a well sculpted appearance. Thank you
Growing up I always had a fuller face, and even in photos my face looks very full still, however as I've entered my mid to late 20's I've started noticing fat loss in my face and honestly it makes me so sad. I'm going to miss my chubby cheeks one day for sure! They do make you look more youthful and healthy imo.
Super informative without being judgey. When I first started watching you I couldn’t tell if you were more than just your pretty surface. Over time, I’ve seen how detailed your research is and how you can present information in a nonjudgmental way that sometimes even plastic surgeons on YT haven’t mastered. Make no mistake, this isn’t a vapid, narcissistic channel meant to make you feel bad about yourself. It’s a friend who’s been around the surgical block who can help you work through the decision to go under the knife. Thank you for that.
It's so fascinating to me how much trends of beauty changes and how much so many of us want what we don't have. I have a long face with no chub in my cheeks and have always wished I had a beautiful round face. I used to be so envious of people with round faces and full cheeks.
I just recently binge-watched your entire celebrity playlist and I was surprised how often you listed potential buccal fat removal procedures amongst the alleged procedures each celebrity may have had done. a lot of videos about the buccal fat removal trend make it seem like its a new procedure thats only done for the trend, but clearly it isnt.
I really appreciate the format you used for this video. You not only broke down the procedure, but who's a good candidate, and what to look for in a surgeon. Very helpful and enjoyable as always!
When I was a teenager, Lea Michelle was still on glee and I actually looked to her a lot in terms of learning to love the way I looked. My mom is a Sephardi Jew born in Morocco with roots in Spain (the Jewish community had to flee Spain a long time ago), and my dad’s parents were Slovak immigrants. I saw myself and my mother in Lea when I was young- a very strong jaw and nose, and the same coloring. I was very self conscious about my jaw and my nose and her presence on such a popular show actually made me start to love those parts of myself. So I do think I understand why she got the procedure done when traditionally, emphasizing a strong jaw may result in a look more associated with masculinity and hardness lol. She probably really loves her strong jaw, as I love mine! I just LOVE a strong jaw on a woman lol! What I will say, is that my mother never got her buccal fat removed and I think that has played a big part in my people always say she looks so young. She’s 53 and the definition in her face is really quite striking yet she still has this youthfulness that, after watching this video, I can say is at least partially due to her buccal fat. If she had done this in the past she would definitely not look as young today. THAT BEING SAID- I think my mom looks better the older she looks and it makes me hope that one day, society won’t tie beauty so strongly to the appearance of age. So women (myself included) don’t have to feel so anxious about getting older.
Spot on, as usual, Lorry! I appreciate your willingness to speak on the topic of plastic surgery and doing so with so much grace and kindness. I truly respect you for that.
I would love to see your take on Lily-Rose Depp and her face. She has always looked natural to me but after seeing videos of buccal fat removal I am not so sure anymore.
I get it that a sharper face might get models and actors more opportunities but we shouldn’t compare themselves to them and change our faces just to fit in the current trend on instagram. It’s sad that so many young beautiful girls are getting sucked out of their vitality for the sake of having a sharp angle. I almost did the procedure but realized that true confidence comes from a light within which no plastic surgery can give you
I think you did an excellent job explaining this procedure with pros and cons. You have done a better job at explaining than other plastic surgeons videos I’ve seen. I mean they do a job job too, but you just explain things in a more realistic and understandable way. Thank you!
in mexico this surgery has been in trend since many years ago, i mean it was very normalized wanting to have a "bichectomia", i also was very surprised that people, at least in the us, started calling it a "new trend"
Thank you for giving a different perspective. I just had this done, not because it was a fad, but because I was a good candidate and it was something I had considered for a few years now. I was a little bummed to see the negative attention it was getting lately, so it is refreshing to hear you explain why people might consider the procedure. Being taken more seriously and viewed as more mature/their actual age is an underrepresented insecurity for some!!! ❤
I got it done at 23, Im 26 now and i'm still loving my results, best decision ever, this video is very informative and accurate, most videos on tiktok don't know what they are talking about.
I’ve watched so many videos on this topic and hands down you are the BEST! Thank you for explaining who would be a great candidate vs who wouldn’t… this is why I trust you ❤️
wow, of all the videos i've seen talking about buccal fat removal yours is so much kinder, open minded, and not at all judgemental ❤ this would really help people who would consider this procedure make better decisions.
I love my round face!! I used to think my cheeks were too round until people like Selena Gomez and Gigi Hadid became beauty icons in the 2010s. So on the one hand I understand the celebrity influence on younger people because it affected me too. On the other hand I hope this trend doesn't make anyone feel bad about their natural cheeks. Round faces are super cute and we age like fine wine; I hope people go for this procedure because they like the look it gives, not because the trend created an insecurity
Remember that as you age, you lose fat from your face. When I hit 30, I started to lose that puppy fat on my face. People thought that I'd lost a lot of weight, but I hadn't, it was just that my face thinned out naturally. I think it looks fantastic! I love the structured, angular look that natural aging has given me. My cheekbones look a lot more prominent. So just take into account the fact that you may lose fat on your face, before getting this procedure. Also consider your face shape. I have a long, narrow face, which could easily look gaunt and hollow if more fat was removed. Something to keep in mind.
I’ve been wondering that too! Although from pictures of when she was a kid, she does seem to already have a bit of a dent on the side of her cheeks, I think she’s got great bone structure.
@@ZacharyBoi At 20 Kylie was already going crazy tho ✂️💉 In this day and age a lot of young celebrities in their early and mid twenties are having lots of procedures. Look at Bella Hadid or Dove Cameron. It’s definitely a new trend. In the 90s or early 00s people weren’t getting that many procedures that young.
@@lolaluftnagel8251so true! not to be rude or anything, but can’t always doubt! anything can be possible nowadays! and my comment is not meant to say jenna isn’t natural 🤎
@@lolaluftnagel8251 so true. It’s actually surprising how many celebrities actually start getting procedures done in their teens so that they can “grow into” the look without people noticing they had surgery done. Lorry has covered a few of these situations on her channel.
Lorry, can you please make a video about how to tell what kind of cheek bones, face shape, etc. you have? The way to explained how to check your buccal fat area really resonated with me, but i can't tell if my cheekbones are bones or just fat 🤣 (not trying to get a surgery, but i find it very interesting!)
I’ve had buccal fat removal and I couldn’t be happier. I genetically stored a lot of fat in my face. Even at my lowest weight I had a lot of fat in my face. My parents both still have chubby cheeks but not like mine. I had so much I chewed on the inside of my cheek and I had a build up of scar tissue! 5 mg was removed from each cheek when the average is 2 mg from each. I still have a round face and I still look like myself but just more refined. I loved this procedure and it’s interesting to see people say it’s the worst possible thing anyone can do lol!
hi! tomorrow i'm doing it, are you still happy with your results? and at what age you had it done? i'm 22, and i have a very round face but all these negative comments make me very nervous
@@kit196 hi!! Sorry to reply late, i hope your procedure went well! I still love my results. I would be happy to send you my before and afters if you want! Don’t be spooked by all of this, people jump on a hate train lol! I’m super happy with the way i look. I don’t look gaunt at all, i just don’t look swollen or inflamed like how i looked before my procedure. Please lmk if you’d like to see my pics!
its so nice you're willing to be kind and thoughtful to people even though you have a large audience, it gets hard to remember people are just people sometimes, especially when they are famous
I really appreciate this video because a lot of the other videos i have seen from other youtuber commentaries pretty much insult people for wanting the procedure and it just feels so mean spirited instead of trying to understand why someone would want the procedure. Very excellebt neutral video ❤️
Based on the pictures you shared the only one that I think turned out truly phenomenal was Selena Gomez. Margo Robbie's was my choice for runner up, and I think she may have just had a slight reduction to the buccal fat if she did have this procedure.
I have a lot of facial fat and not prominent bone structure. This means that I look a lot different when my face is relaxed VS smiling. I think its an added perk that I can look serious and even scary if I want to, and cherub-like and innocent when I smile. Its fun to be able to have many expressions
I have the same thing! It's funny you mention that. I have cute round cheeks when I smile, but they disappear when I'm not and I can look intimidating if I need to
Thank you Lorry for making a more comprehensive video on this topic. Ive been so tired of seeing every TH-camr jump on the buccal fat bandwagon and have nothing of educational value to say about it. Only that they don’t understand it or “they ruined their face!” Or “look how wacky this trend is”. While I definitely think its not a surgery for many, it still has it’s successes. People just need to be aware whether on not they are the correct candidates, and many really aren’t.
I appreciate Lorry for coming through with such an educational and unbiased video. When I first noticed the trend, I thought everyone was starting to look older but now I realize that some women don't want to have child like features way into their late 20's- early 30's, esp. For someone who works as an actor and wants more serious roles.
I think this procedure really helps some people, but everyone in this video looks so much cuter and vibrant before! But that is just my taste. Great video 💓
Thank you for your perspective Lorry. Most of the pictures I preferred the before. But that’s just me. Even the ones it seemed to look okay on looked older and I just don’t see it worth getting surgery.
Thank you for your kind approach as always! This topic is all I see on my socials and it's filled with inconsiderate comments towards people who got this procedure. They want to prove a point of how we shouldn't allow social media to dictate our looks, but the way they are going about it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I can't imagine what someone who spent the time and money must feel like seeing all of that.
Could you possibly do a part 2 on male celebrities who’ve had buccal fat removal. I’m considering it and would have loved to see some male examples to compare . Thanks ❤ u Lory
I visited a plastic surgeon about buccal fat removal. She said that i should consider getting in shape first and consider the buccal fat work around my face that i want. Right now i still have my buccal fat but it doesn't bother me much as i did before
Excellent video Lorry ! This was very educational and informative. I got Bucal Fat Removal 5 years ago when I was 28yo and I dont regret it one bit. At that age I still had a lot of "baby fat" in my cheeks and my cheekbones were not visible. I remember I asked the surgeon to NOT take away too much of the fat in my mouth (I asked for "onky half) and how told me if he took away that the results would be unnoticeable. I asked how much he normally takes out and he said he tales out all of ot or close to 95%. He said he would only take between 70-80%. He also told me how he had done over 1,000 of this procedures and I was only the 2nd person to ever request this. He said most patients came with Eiza González pics and asked to take all off. The amount of fat he took was enough to make my face slimmer without making me look gaunt. Always talk with your surgeon before any procedure ladys, and be informed!
When i first heard about this surgery in my teens I was like "I want that when I'm older" because i felt like it might be the answer to my insecurity of a rounder face but hearing about the risks it scares me enough to just be happy with what I got haha. Same thing with eye trough filler. My deep ridges under my eyes are my biggest insecurity of my face and I've looked into getting filler in that area. But after hearing you among others talk about the risks of getting filler in the wrong place causing necrosis I'm (at least for the moment) trying to just accept the way I look
Extremely informative, Lori! This topic just about cracks me up because I used to have a VERY slim, narrow face (both jawline and buccal area) when I was younger. It was what is now described as a v-shape jawline. Well, it always used to drive me CRAZY how "skinny" my face was. I feel like the most popular celebs back then were full-faced beauties. Nowadays my face is a bit fuller and the v-shape and hollowed buccal area are all the rage. Isn't that always the way?! Generally, I like the fuller faces and think that the buccal fat removal usually doesn't achieve a natural look (rather like filler can't easily "create" natural looking cheekbones. I think Emrata looked significantly more beautiful before BFR. Just my humble opinion.
I’ll never understand why someone would want this unless it’s an extreme case. Having a cherubic face will be a blessing as you age. But to each their own!!
Moral of the story: everyone's face is different and one size does not fit all. Some people look great and others do not which is the case with all cosmetic procedures. People online (TikTok) think they know what they're talking about and are trashing the entire procedure but still contour their faces to achieve a similar look.
A lot of people hopped on the trend of the negatives of this surgery but it’s so nice to hear you talk more about it! I don’t find some of these drama channels as reliable sources for plastic surgery information
Great video, Ms Lorry! I was interested in having a buccal fat removal procedure because I wanted more prominent cheek bones, and it wasn't until I saw your video on Mary-Kate Olsen that I decided not to proceed with it - as the long-term effects were not favourable. I think what's scary about this surgery is that once that fat is gone, it's gone forever. So if the result doesn't go the way you wanted, you're basically screwed.
yeah as we age, we want that fat back!
Lorry has such a kind, diplomatic, unjudgmental way of critiquing the ones she shows in her videos. Her kindness is appreciated!
Yes, she always comes across as kind and motherly. Her perspective is unique cos of her lived experience, and needless to say, the production and entertainment value of her videos is up there with the very best on this subject.
Agree you described it super well!
Yes she is classy
If only the people who followed her content were the same way.
Except for the title.. that's a bit harsh 😳
Great comment. Yes!!
She’s wrong… bone are supportive structure not fat, as you age fat is going to pull your face down
She’s wrong… bone are supportive structure not fat, as you age fat is going to pull your face down
I wouldn't have this now anyway, but younger me might have been keen. Lorry's explanation about what cheekbone structure you need for it to look good shows me it would have been a really bad decision. So helpful!
Lea Michele face looks very STRONG now. It’s uncanny. Some people’s facial structure are not meant for plastic surgery trends!
I completely agree!
She looks like handsome squidward.
@@stanliu6885 This is an interesting description I would not have thought of in 1 million years!
I felt like she always had defined cheeks in the first place, I found it strange that she wanted this procedure

😂😂😂 same! I got it last year and I’m 33
Lol.
me too!!!
I’m 28 and still get mistaken for a teenager and I totally sympathize with all of that. I’m the only one of my friends that is actually looking forward to their 30’s and finally aging 😩
What are you doing to de-age?
I find it strange that Leah Michelle was so strongly against getting her nose done for all of those years and then did this. Not even about the surgery or results, just the motives are curious. I wonder if she will ever speak out about this someday.
My thoughts exactly.
I believe because her nose is tied with her ethnicity but her cheeks are not.
I remember reading a years ago that she didn't want to get surgery on her nose because it might affect her voice. Idk if this is scientifically accurate or not, but I'm pretty sure Barbra Streisand also didn't get a nose job for that reason
she did get that nose done...i wont be fooled
i mean this as a high compliment, this feels like a video that would be shown in a classroom. very organized and straightforward.
Thank you 🙏🏻
I had a consultation for this about 6 months ago, but didn’t end up picking a surgical date due to competing priorities.
It's also the makeup and eyebrows... Weird
When I saw that after photo cycling around the internet, I assumed she was in her 40s 😭 poor girl.
I was thinking she’s starting to resemble pete burns. I didn’t realise she’s only 21, she looks twice her age, it’s really sad
She honestly looks like someone who had a drug addiction 😥
ive never heard of her until i saw her face come up in the topic of buccal fat removal .. i didnt know she was that young!
Can you do an update on Selena Gomez? Her eyes look almost pinched to me. Idk if it's from cheek fillers, an eyebrow lift, the cat eye procedure, or something else lol.
Edited to add: I'm a fan of Selena and I'm not hating on her. But regardless, it's obvious she has had work done lol
Edit #2: yes she has lupus and takes meds for it. No, that will not completely change the structure of her face.
I was thinking the same thing. I mean she’s still beautiful of course, but there’s something different.
Thread lifts for days
The video will be bombarded with "you can't have plastic surgery with lupus" which isn't true as long as the patient's lupus is stable.
@@puffball4484 also, so many people defend her and say her lupus and/or meds changed her face shape. Looking a little puffy from weight gain or water retention is not the same as having completely different features lol
@@brittancandela yup. Her nose and eyebrows are clearly surgically altered. But don't tell her fans that 🙄
I find this to be a very interesting topic, both myself and my daughter were born with excess bucal fat, and we both recieved partial bucal fat removal in infancy to help with obstructed breathing and allow room for our tongues. I say that to say that, we both still look like chipmunks with full cheeks.
How interesting! I haven’t heard of that !
Lol chipmunks 🤣😭 soooo cute !!!
Same here, i had such a round face as a teen, but now that i m 26 i look pretty chisseled and the fat is really evenly distributed throughout my face.
!!!!!

Why?
I lost a lot of respect for Doja after that. I don’t care for bullies.

I have a round face. At times I hate how I look in pictures, but I’ve come to terms that is better to embrace my cubby cheeks than to stress on “imperfection.” I’m 18 and I no longer want to hate myself for obnoxious reasons. Round faces are perfect as well as other face shapes 🫶🏻❤
Edit: thanks for all the kind comments. I feel much better and ready to love my round face 🥰🥹

As someone who had VERY chubby cheeks as a kid, teen, and early adult, you will age out of it gradually. Trust me on this!

I was so shocked she looks 39 😮
That’s insane!! I just looked her up and it seems to be working for her since she’s in the modeling industry so I guess that’s why people still opt for it knowing the potential risks, beauty trends are wild 😢
I have really full cheeks and I used to hate not having more definition in my face. But seeing this surgery everywhere actually made me appreciate my face shape and youthfulness. My boyfriend even calls me “cheeks.” Because he says they’re cute and loves them.
Surgery as a trend has made me appreciate my natural face that much more.
You can achieve a milder effect with Kybella.
A couple years ago Buccal Fat Removal was popular in Brazil, and now there's so many videos of influencers saying that they regret it. We are just ahead of the curve, those celebs will chance their minds soon

It’s very bad…especially at her age. Unreal.
Yup and Lea Michele they really did not need to get it sad
She literally looks like a different person. I'm not familiar with her and seeing the before and after pics is crazy, I never would have guessed they are the same person.
I agree that Margot Robbie aged herself with this procedure. She definitely has a more mature look and it’s getting more prominent as she hits her mid-thirties. It will be interesting to see how she ages.
She already looks ten years older. But then.. She always look more mature, even with 25.
Yeah Margot definitely looks like she's 10 years older due to this procedure. It was unnecessary.
Yeah she is gorgeous and still looks good just more mature. I dont think in her case it was necessary
Dove and the last woman also went from very youthful looking full faces to seemingly 10 years older in the before and after photos
Thats all this peasant can Say.

i used to be so insecure of my rather round shaped face bc it had no definition. i wanted to have prominent cheekbones. however, as i aged, my facial fat gradually disappeared and now my hidden cheekbones are slightly prominent. i rlly think it's the best move not to get surgery at an age when u are still developing bc u never know how ur face is gonna turn out, and buccal fat removal is one of those procedures ppl should be a bit cautious with bc they might not like the results in the long term if they get it a little too early in their life or if they're not a good candidate.
What a great comment ! Glad to hear that a surgeon said this as well!

Aww thanks so much !!

I second this! She had a v chubby face as a child but now her cheeks look amazing amd natural. Would love a video on her
I get it that a sharper face might get models and actors more opportunities but we shouldn’t compare themselves to them and change our faces just to fit in the current trend on instagram.

So on the one hand I understand the celebrity influence on younger people because it affected me too. On the other hand I hope this trend doesn't make anyone feel bad about their natural cheeks.
Round faces are super cute and we age like fine wine; I hope people go for this procedure because they like the look it gives, not because the trend created an insecurity
as long as I get mistaken for a child, I don't have to pay as much for food, movie tickets, etc... so I'm keeping mine lol :)

@@juallee2711 I’d like to see please 😅
The quality of your videos is insane !!! I mean the you research and present the information!
I appreciate that! 🥰
its so nice you're willing to be kind and thoughtful to people even though you have a large audience, it gets hard to remember people are just people sometimes, especially when they are famous
I really appreciate this video because a lot of the other videos i have seen from other youtuber commentaries pretty much insult people for wanting the procedure and it just feels so mean spirited instead of trying to understand why someone would want the procedure. Very excellebt neutral video ❤️
Thanks so much !
Exactly!
Dove's face was literally perfect before (during her Descendants era.)
Lorry you're so kind. No judgment and so much beauty on your channel. Your looking less swollen and absolutely gorgeous 😍
Thank you for your perspective Lorry. Most of the pictures I preferred the before. But that’s just me. Even the ones it seemed to look okay on looked older and I just don’t see it worth getting surgery.
you're so right about the need for prominent cheekbones for this to work!
Yess!
Finallyyyy lol ive been waiting for lorrys buccal fat removal video
Could you possibly do a part 2 on male celebrities who’ve had buccal fat removal. I’m considering it and would have loved to see some male examples to compare . Thanks ❤ u Lory
The person you hired for video editing is doing good job! 👏
Yes he is !! ❤️🥰
I visited a plastic surgeon about buccal fat removal. She said that i should consider getting in shape first and consider the buccal fat work around my face that i want. Right now i still have my buccal fat but it doesn't bother me much as i did before
Just last year every doctor on TH-cam was saying this is the best thing ever.
Almost all of them look older with the buckle fat removal. What a terrible idea. Thank you Lori for yet another great video, you keep us informed 🙏💗🌸
Every video I love your tops. ❤ And how kind you are to everyone, while also being truthful.
Thank you so much !!
I just love Lorry's voice. She could be talking about *literally* anything!
Lorry, your voice really helps me be calm and takes me away from my daily struggles. Thank you.
This is by far THE BEST video covering this topic. Very informative, as always! 🙌🏾👏🏾
Leah's face is straight up scaring me. Like girl, you can get all the surgery you want but you're not supposed to make it obvious.
On some face shapes it genuinely looks stunning and on others it throws the balance off it makes their jaws look huge
Great video as always lorry. Not jumping on a hate train and giving an objective view. Thank you 🙏
Love how in-depth this is! Also how kind and respectful you are (as always)
Nice video! I’ve been waiting to see the procedure done on someone who had a round face and came out looking good
Hi, Adeola! Love your videos. Hope you have a nice day❤
@@jeness thank you so much! Hope you do too ♥️
I love how respectful you are in your videos. :)
I’ll never understand why someone would want this unless it’s an extreme case. Having a cherubic face will be a blessing as you age. But to each their own!!
I do hope Lea is happy and satisfied with her look. I think she looked much better before her procedure.
I truly believe that a full buccal fat pad is an subconscious indicator of youth; as you stated. My future older self thanks you! (I ended up proceeding with malar implants, which I love).
