You must be very proud of that spider lift and have invested a lot of money in it. A very wise investment I would say! You do beautiful chimney work, brother. I look forward to more vlogs on chimney repair! 👍👍👍
I'd have loved one of those machines, just been up through the Velux and tied myself to the chimney with some ropes. Was proud of the job until a neighbour pointed out that the pot was a little bit on the piss. Its going to stay that way.
The spider is a little bit over the top for that job but if you are dragging it around you may as well use it, it is much easier than using ladders. I did this job ages ago so I can quite remember the cost but it would have been around £200ish.
I need my chimney pots capped and a friend who does roofing said he will get up there by leaning the ladder against the chimney stack.. what do you think?
I would be dubious of any (so called) builder who called mortar flaunch ( in my neck of the woods, we call it 'compo'. Down south, they call it ' 'muck') concrete?.....
I don't know anybody who calls mortar "flaunch" mortar where I am from is building sand and cement, mainly used for laying bricks or pointing masonary.
flaunching noun The sloped fillet around the base of a chimney pot, which serves to hold the pot in position and allow rainwater to run off. Also a mortar fillet at the junction of the chimney stack and the roof. Superseded nowadays by lead flashing.

Thank you,
Yes the spider was a great investment.

@sylvinolieno5361 I am sure it looks fine, and as long as the concrete flauncing around the chimney is sound your chimney pot will be fine 👍
the spider is brilliant looks like you have a crackin business there bud well done
Thank you, it's a handy bit of kit and it certainly makes my life much easier.

It's not a ridiculous idea as long as the chimney is in good condition, I have done it many times before.
@@dannyiwan7566 thanks Danny. I should be more trusting but roofing work makes me nervous 😅
Wow, never seen anyone using one of those in a domestic situation. Approx how much did the job cost?
I generally charge around £400 + vat for a chimney flaunce on its own.
