The ending hit hard man all the stress from studies and exams and being an introvert that has social anxiety osu is just something that helps me chill and have a great time and that's been the driving factor to be great at it as I would like to be the best at something in my life
Just a bit of clarification: By mastery, I mean the complete mastery of patterns and styles. Mastering the game in a way where you could play Centipede comfortably is impossible.
The ending is something you can only understand if you have also been through it yourself. While I was heartbroken at the idea that another person has had to go through the same struggle, it does make me feel less lonely.
yea the mastering patterns after learning how to play them in the wrong way part is very true. i very often mashed or galloped streams because i went mostly for high star dt clears or nofail c/b ranks, when it was very hard for me to even fc high 6 or low 7 star maps with similar easier patterns at the time. i had to change my technique a few times to limit my wrist movement (mashing) which was my issue, and although speed/stamina took a hit i can do much better now.
i remember searching a lot for improvement guides like I do for every other game but by the time I was able to pass 6* I realized literally all you can do to improve is play more of the skillsets you want to get better at
I’ve been pushing myself by playing maps out of my comfort zone (B and C rank) and managed to get some nice attempts including getting to the chorus ~3 min into Moko’s LET’S JUMP (I think I was streaming in a vc with like 7ms latency too). I’m also getting more comfortable at higher ar (like 9.8 because even though I’m 40k I’m better at ar8 and maybe 7 than ar10) Edit: I’m so much in the 5-low 6 star purgatory that the difference between the highest sr map I’ve FCed and the highest ranked that’s even remotely passable is less than one star. Difference between my highest ranked pass and FC is 0.53 stars (Mou Ii Kai Rain vs Ooi Extreme)
"Playing Maps that are so hard to you" This happened to me. I started playing osu in March of last year, and played to increase the map star rating, after 5 months of playing i passed Airman, and started playing only 7 and 8 stars, when i haven't fc'ed a 4 star map yet. Fast foward to this year, until February i only played really hard maps, and only now, i can FC 5 stars I think that's a Very good example that If u are getting 85% in 7 stars and C ranks in Jump spam 8 stars you are not actually improving, try to Fc something or get good scores in maps that are hard, but that u can at least get a lower than 30 misscounts
when I saw the cookiezi freedom dive fc way back it inspired me to play the game with the goal of passing that map, I started playing around 2018 and just 9 months ago I passed the big black for the first time ever but I am now taking a break from the game for 3 months now and still hasnt touched the game ever since, I am now at 212k rank lol. But Im still keeping myself up to date with the osu scene, theres so much new stuff I discovered from playing this game like music and content creators like btmc, It seems that im more of an audience now instead of a player and I enjoy being like that, my passion is still there tho. one day I'll go back and grind freedom dive if I pass that map then I guess I have achieved my goal?
I've been playing osu for 2 and a half years/1000 hours+ Thoes things sound normal till I mention the fact I started osu at age 22 and am now 25 Unlike 99% of the community I had the wisdom of my age to understand the moment I saw the pp system from an unbiased perspective... That shit will never be perfect as any "fix" is just a band-aid fix to the algorithm The question I've said to myself in these 2 years is if not PP what and I don't need to give answers to that as I'm sure if you are reading this you can probably think of a few What matters to me Is kids understand rank means nothing and you shouldn't really be comparing yourself to anyone else unless you really really enjoy it The only person in the game and in life in general you should be comparing yourself to is your past self Constantly wanting to improve on your previous is such a better mind set then "haha I'm better then you" or "why aren't I that good..." I'm here saying who gives a shit about anyone else just click circles it's a game after all the point of it is to have fun
Genetics are extremely important for anything you do, they do not cap your overall skill, but they'll cap the improvement speed. To become good at anything you need to be at least a little compatible with this thing given 24h in a day. Even within the game you should hone the skill that comes a bit more naturally than other - for example, some people are not able to learn how to read very low AR quickly or at all. That's the same with other aspects of the game. Finally some things are straight up impossible for certain subgroup of players because like it or not, a lot of RSI is actually genetically dependent.
Man that ending described me perfectly. My story is similar to yours so I know how it really feels like. Also the ending reminded me your old video "Are you really here forever?" Similar vibes.
To be honest It's been my dream ever since to become a top player but it feels like a wall I'm just never gonna get over especially with the skill nowadays seeming absolutely impossible to reach now.
I believe, the learning curve at the beginning is super high and get very little, when you reach 5-7 difficulty. I dont really care about SS ranking or mods. I just want a full combo and spend my time with good music. Thats fun. :D
I used to play farm maps with HR a lot 3 years ago, ust rertyspammed them. Now im unable to play bursts. Even though i have a 300pp top play i struggle to fc 5*s. Decided to start playing 4,5* for the time. i hope i can play normal maps one day... (65k 920h)
The highest dopamine I get is feeling the improvement at the game, retry spamming is t something I do, farming also not so much. May be in 6 digit with 200 hours and might not reach 5 digit anytime soon but hey I'm having fun so who cares. As long as I keep improving I'm having fun
I don' t have much time to play osu, even me being 14, but what i do to improve at the game is simple, when i have time to play i start focusing a little bit more on the thing i'm strugling, i'm a six digit but i don't care that much about ranks, so i play offline to not have the (what i call) "pp pressure"
Verto actually helped me keep my sanity playing osu by making these videos. His humor helped me push through especially videos regarding mindblock. I got my top play not too long ago which i thought was not doable at first and my overall accuracy has been improving. Thank you so much verto!
funnily enough I'm pretty happy as a 6 digit after 100s of hours because I can play the majority of the songs I enjoy at 5 stars, do I have many FC's nah not really I mostly just vibe when I play
I've been not improving for about a year while playing regularly, I feel like I get frustrated too much at myself for not improving at all over the past year. I feel like I've gotten worse and struggle to top scores that I've set 8 months ago~ I feel like osu is a very hard game mentally, you'll always hit some walls here and there and the way you go about it is how you mainly improve. If you hit a wall and get frustrated and quit instead of trying to figure something out, you'll never really improve. That has been the case for me, I don't know how to reset myself mentally. I almost feel uncomfortable just playing the game.. Even though I've been playing since 2012, I don't know how to feel "comfortable" and the star rating doesn't matter, something just feels wrong..
And meanwhile me i don't have motivation to play if I'm not playing multi-player that is... of course I'm suck at the game if i play by myself and for some reason. I I'm good at the game if I play multi and i don't know why??? Ps. I know why i just pretending i don't know LOL
Thanks for your opinion! If that's what you think, you should watch the entirety of this video, since it explains exactly what you need to do beyond "play more" :)

Yeah same, it's kinda like a coping mechanism, ya know

I’ll take that as a challenge 😤
I wonder if anyone is going to FC centipede in the future, that would be cool
2050 players:
and who decided that?! *grows extra arms*
The ending is something you can only understand if you have also been through it yourself. While I was heartbroken at the idea that another person has had to go through the same struggle, it does make me feel less lonely.
This man's really gonna make me cry over an osu! video xd

Thank you for this video. I just got my top play after being inspired to put in a good session with my weak skillsets then farming.
i died at the 1-2 jumps
thats gotta be the only thing i survive at then the spaced stream kills me 😔
beautiful video

C rank is bad unless you can push it up to a B or A rank in the same session imo, more for benchmark than improvement
7 ms while streaming??? I get 8 with only osu open
I think your right, I should START MASTERING FARM MAPS!!!
that tech players getting no pp joke, I always wondered why despite doing decent on some tech maps i don't receive pp like how jump maps give

This channel is such a gem!

That's true, but remember - when you started this game, 5-6* maps seemed the same way, if not even harder.
I believe, the learning curve at the beginning is super high and get very little, when you reach 5-7 difficulty. I dont really care about SS ranking or mods. I just want a full combo and spend my time with good music. Thats fun. :D
so accurate it's a little scary xd
I watched this video for the first time months ago but your videos never get uninteresting. Maybe im just too addicted to this game.

yea just be talented enough, anyone can do that! it's just unlikely and out of your control :)
Do you approach everything in your life with such defeatism?
