Having teachers that are only a few years older than you (less than a decade) isn’t unique. My friend’s first 3 years of teaching from 24-27 were teaching 14-18 year olds. He had an open door policy for kids that wanted to eat lunch in his classroom if they felt unsafe but is also socially awkward (we were all shocked he applied to teacher’s college) so he refused to speak to anybody unless it was necessary during lunches in his classroom 😂

And I don't believe they are divided by category, so while they may produce drafts that are patreon exclusive, they may also produce drafts that are free to watch, and the same for the other kinds of supplemental content.
Honestly the patreon stuff just makes me want to unsub to the TH-cam and stop interacting with the community because i don't want to feel like I'm missing patreon exclusive stuff and having to sift through it. I'll just listen to the free pod exclusively. It's $16/month here in Australia for the medium shirt tier

I've had an endless amount of enjoyment from F**kface tho, so I'm glad so many people who are in a decent financial position are willing to support them, and it seems fair to me that a few extra videos get made exclusively for them. We'll still get drafts, bingos, blindsides, etc, there will simply be a few additional ones behind a paywall, similar to how RT First had some extra Regulation Gameplay videos. I think the TH-cam channel(s?) will still have plenty of supplemental content to make it worth sticking around, but if the FOMO aspect of being a non-sponsor community member puts you off (which is totally understandable), it makes sense to just keep up with the audio podcasts. If you still want to support them without much of an inconvenience on your part, downloading their audio podcasts from whatever services you listen to them on apparently help them significantly more than streaming just them.

They started as a podcast but they're now a production company, and will that suit those who are only podcast listeners. How much lore/joke creep from patreon content will start coming into the normal podcast and how much will that alienate the audience (me)? I already don't watch the video content and had no idea what the joke was about Eric being the president (was that a video? I don't know because it's already difficult to keep hold of). The podcast will become more of a very niche product in service of it being garden walled through patreon and the community following that content broadly. There feels like a discussion needed about how is this going to work with how many paywalled jokes and lore there is. If that means it's focused on those who paid that's all good I'm ready to move on. I'm just confused right now in what direction are they going and where to put my momentum of wanting fkface to continue.

It's interesting how Eric said he didn't like variable timed releases due to first/exclusivity decreasing healthy discussions in the community. As a non patreon member I feel like this has similar issues of not feeling like you're part of the community because there's just so many in jokes and content that seeps into others, especially in the community, that it changes the podcast at its core. There must be some sort of content threshold where the podcast, community, and lore becomes so deeply esoteric and fractured it becomes impenetrable for most. And drifts away from being a podcast with a contained concept(s) that can be enjoyed as a singular (and free) entertainment product.

Not all drafts, they're making specific content exclusive for patreon (like this dog draft), but they're also making free content on a "what do we feel like making" basis. Might be gaming, might be a draft, might be Sloppy Joe's Bingo, etc. So, while some content is being made specifically to encourage and reward people into supporting them financially, those of us who can't/choose not to will still have supplemental videos, including drafts and the like. :)

First thing you did after divesting from RT is copy the mistakes that helped to kill it. Putting previously free content behind a paywall is a seriously huge problem that RT had and it contributed to erosion of the community. I get that you have to make money, but I don't think paywalling content is going to be helpful for building a community and building a new audience.

Eh I think it makes sense. They explained in the announcement and other content like the first stream back that anything supplemental that is mentioned on the podcast will be free. Like for instance look back at most of the drafts, they were set up in the show as something they were going to do and so that was available for the public. In comparison the “fictional dog draft” here is something I have no recollection of them mentioning or building up to in any way so the paywall acts like a nice catch all for any idea they might have that’s just not good enough to stand on its own but still is something they want to make. To me it’s no different than other podcasts doing special episodes for Patrons only. For example, one of the podcasts I listened to was A More Civilized Age which was a Star Wars Clone Wars review podcast. They put special one offs like their review of Solo and Obi Wan behind the paywall and it worked out for them just fine. This also includes Q&As where in contrast to what Regulation Pod has promised did bleed in to the main content where their views on certain characters were changed due to material explored in those Q&As
@@joshs5577 My criticism is mostly on content that was previously available for free. If they want to put new shows behind a paywall that doesn't bother me as much. All of RvB got taken off of TH-cam so now any time someone wants to watch it they have to pay. I don't know who they pay anymore, if there even is someone left to pay, or if the content is even possible to purchase.
