Nice, thank you for this. I think it'd be better to have the camera capture the whole body of the lifter for the entirety of the lifts instead of just tracking the torso up and down. Sometimes it cuts off the feet as well as the knees at some points in the lifts.
Gonna apply that big toes knees first to my own training! Thanks guys little things like that but make a big difference and we get them for free, super fortunate!
hey juggernaut I see alot of people asking questions about why u cue your athletes to squat a certain way (knees forward and whatnot) you should make a how to squat video and show us the juggernaut way. show us high bar, low bar, front squat and maybe do tutorials for the bench, deadlift and for the oly lifts as well also could u show how technique should be altered for different body types (like how people with long femurs should squat for example)
Shayne Buchanan yeh I did see this. It's ok but I was talking more about a tutorial style video with demos and going into it step by step Something you could show a noob and have it equip him with everything he needs to know
Goodness, Marisa and Chad are adorable. He moves like the Flash and she feels secure squatting. *sniffles* It's just allergies, guys *blows into tissue*
I really appreciate how this channel shows women lifters. Camera work could be better in many parts of this video -- camera operator wants to focus in on lifter's face too much, which is not useful for technique instruction. We need to see the whole body to know anything useful about their form.
My guess is that he says break at the knees because when most people break at the hips they end up in a "good morning". Breaking at the knees would basically make it "easier" to stay upright.
i would thought its the opposite, wouldn't low barers need to break thru the knees to bring the bar towards midline? high barers is already started out in the midline and they can afford to break thru the hips? Maybe i am all wrong....
+Allen Pao I don't think he necessarily means don't use the hips. I think he just wants to initiate with the knees and let the hips follow. Like the guy above said, this seems like a que best used for high bar squats though.
Well in my experience the bar should always be over the midline, high or low bar. But for low bar people tend to have more of a forward lean in order to get the bar over midline. Like I said, that's IMO based on my experience and people I've worked with.
The head position, arm/upper back position and emphasis on driving the hips up all compound on each other to be very problematic. Also note that you would be very hard pressed to find an elite lifter with a technique that looks similar to what he coaches.
how do you feel about squatter that squat with a more hip dominant or who have weaker quads. i see a lot of the athletes you coach have a very knees forward squat. ive tried to do that but i feel extremely weak
I feel they need to bring up their quad strength with exercises like belt squats. A great squat will utilize quads, hips and hamstrings/back to their fullest at different phases of the lift where the different muscles are best suited to exert force.
what sort of dame volume and time is required to grow that quad size!? and is it just me but there are ALOT of females with dame good quads. ps. great job ladies!!!
DependaSaurus Rex it's of course personal preference because that's how she feels the strongest. Imo her stance is relatively normal compared to her body frame. She is very very small.
When Marisa was doing 112 kg, she didn't fully extend her trunk. I realize that this is quite a load for a woman of her build but is this proper squating technique or is it something she does without knowing?
Why the emphasis on the big toe? Is it for pushing back to the middle of your feet? Most lifters tend to come to far forward on the balls on the foot, so most of the time 'stay on your heels' is coached.
In my experience, which includes coaching 1000s of athletes at clinics/seminars over the last 3 years, I find that the majority overemphasize putting the weight toward the back of the foot and lose the ability to maximize force generated from the quads, so they need to shift their weight more forward.
if it were me id think about trying to sit back more. maybe think about hinging more at the beginning of the descent instead of breaking at the knees. ideally you want to hinge at the hips and break at the knees at the same time, but sitting back 1st could be a cue that helps.
1) Your upper back isn't set correctly and crumpling on the ascent, causing the bar to move forward 2) You're trying to push the knees further forward than ankle flexibility allows 3) You're not sitting back enough to keep the weight centered on the mid-foot
Basti S. It's hard to tell unless you look really closely but in the squat it appears her knee angle opens before her hip angle which probably means she's hip dominant in the movement. They are just trying to bring the quads up in the movement so her knee and hip angle open more evenly.
I just cant understand how Marisa doesnt open up her hips to tap into more hips and glutes. Seems she would be so much stronger if she would squat more conventionally.
I think why people are so surprised by her stance is because they don't realize how small she actually is and that while her feet are close, they aren't that close for her. Marisa's frame is TINY, like she wears size 2.5 shoes, she has a lot of muscle but her hips are very narrow, etc.
no idea what happend during this video, cause I stared straight into CWS eyes for the full 10 mins
Wait, there was something else going on? I thought it was a video about Chad's baby blues...
Cool to see the coaching, wouldnt mind more of these :)
I just did squats today and now, after watching this, I want to go back and do more. That is good coaching.
there is an illegal amount of quad action in this video
not nearly enough hip drahv
Nice, thank you for this. I think it'd be better to have the camera capture the whole body of the lifter for the entirety of the lifts instead of just tracking the torso up and down. Sometimes it cuts off the feet as well as the knees at some points in the lifts.
It can not get more athletic and informative than this! Candito is great, but this channel is what every athlete looks forward to!
Gonna apply that big toes knees first to my own training! Thanks guys little things like that but make a big difference and we get them for free, super fortunate!
This is awesome. 3 of my favorite lifters and two (max slides in at the end) of my favorite coaches in the same video!
Tfw Marisa squats 220 faster than most guys do😮, what a beassssst
220? Not really
maybe most guys that dont squat seriously like she does
and really narrow, i couldnt air squat that narrow :D
Definitely gave me things to think about to help my squats. thanks for posting
great! more of these please!
The Max Aita effect.
Thank you for having this be informative and not super sexualizwd wth music and lights and shit lol ....
This video is super sexualised alright, it's got Chad in it
Great, concise summary of proper squat form.
Best coaching and articles around, Juggernaut Training is top notch.
Thanks
It's beautiful to watch these girls squat.
More of these videos. You earned my sub today😀
80% of the time the camera-man is chopping their legs and feet out of the shot.
come on with those camera angles... give us a coaching perspective so we can see the changes being made by the athletes listening to Chad ques. smh
Some great tips throughout this video, Toe Pressure and even push between feet and back, Thank you!
Woah marisa's squat feet stance is insane
Are Chad and Marisa together?
Thank you for all the links! Great video!! watching it as I train. #teamjuggernaut
Cali's quads are outta this world!
My knees don't work like theirs, if I tried to hold them that close forward I feel like they would blow out
Great cues, I understand immediately what they mean. Thanks for the video, JTS

Emir EC They did one with Max Aita. There is also a SuperTraining vid with Mark Bell and Max going overall how to squat this way.
Shayne Buchanan yeh I did see this. It's ok but I was talking more about a tutorial style video with demos and going into it step by step
Something you could show a noob and have it equip him with everything he needs to know
+Emir EC pay a trainer to show you
Jahaven Morse not all trainers know what they are doing
+Emir EC so find one in your area that does. there are a lot of us out here. the most valuable thing in life are worth a little bit money
True Coaching.
love squats but I don't have a rack at home and it's pain trying throw the bar up and over my back
Goodness, Marisa and Chad are adorable. He moves like the Flash and she feels secure squatting. *sniffles* It's just allergies, guys *blows into tissue*

why breaking in the knees first and not through the hips? please explain
My guess is that he says break at the knees because when most people break at the hips they end up in a "good morning". Breaking at the knees would basically make it "easier" to stay upright.
wouldn't you then shut off the hips and translate to lifting less weight?
i would thought its the opposite, wouldn't low barers need to break thru the knees to bring the bar towards midline? high barers is already started out in the midline and they can afford to break thru the hips? Maybe i am all wrong....

This was great.

WOOT @ 3:30, meat head grandpa working on the Gunz, heavy Nam'-Guns session, awesome job
Does cali nguyen have a TH-cam ch
This tutorial is golden.
Nice! They even have better form than a lot of fitness youtubers...✌️.
Dr. Lisa Cuddy from House squats a lot
Marisa is damn strong lifter!
how much does it typically cost for a coach? i really need one but cant afford to give up my first born
Chad the Flash!
9 weeks out from the Arnold, it was this past week.
Bknighti4 yes, we don't have endless time to edit videos so some of them take longer to put out.
Watching these videos makes me sad bc I realize just how shitty my squat is right now lol
go Coach Cali!
Do you specify to your athletes if underhand or regular grip should be used during deadlifts?
I don't.
What do you think ofthe mark rippetoe way of squat form?
The head position, arm/upper back position and emphasis on driving the hips up all compound on each other to be very problematic. Also note that you would be very hard pressed to find an elite lifter with a technique that looks similar to what he coaches.
Juggernaut Training Systems maybe only lifters with a very short torso compared to the femurs?
so I front squat to focus on quad, do I just need to work on keeping knees forward and not have my foot rotated ?
Jamaal Lewis the toes can turn out some that's fine. You need to focus on an upright torso and not letting the hips rise first out of the hole.
Stop zooming in every rep so we can see the movement of the whole body.
how do you feel about squatter that squat with a more hip dominant or who have weaker quads. i see a lot of the athletes you coach have a very knees forward squat. ive tried to do that but i feel extremely weak

Marisa has been training for 23 years.
Amazing commitment!!! Really liked the little details in this video, will be hearing these little ques in my head for weeks lol
Damn*
intro song??
Question about Marisa's deadlift stance. Is there a particular reason her feet are that close together or is it personal preference?
DependaSaurus Rex it's of course personal preference because that's how she feels the strongest. Imo her stance is relatively normal compared to her body frame. She is very very small.
Juggernaut Training Systems thank you so much for the response. I too am small and I've always wondered about my stance. Thank you again.
When Marisa was doing 112 kg, she didn't fully extend her trunk. I realize that this is quite a load for a woman of her build but is this proper squating technique or is it something she does without knowing?

My instaqueens in one video. 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
I wish I can get critiqued by CSW
3:45 what????
What could be the problem if I find myself shifting forward onto the balls of my feet when squatting?
Palumbo Fit heels lifting off the floor COULD be limited ankle mobility. maybe try oly shoes
if it were me id think about trying to sit back more. maybe think about hinging more at the beginning of the descent instead of breaking at the knees. ideally you want to hinge at the hips and break at the knees at the same time, but sitting back 1st could be a cue that helps.

2) You're trying to push the knees further forward than ankle flexibility allows
3) You're not sitting back enough to keep the weight centered on the mid-foot
MidnightSTALKER979 I recently switched from Oly shoes to chucks. I'll try them again to see if it fixes or at least helps. Thanks!
D3rrty D4n I sit back in the decent pretty easily. I find I shift out of the hole, usually after my hips rise above my knees.
strong af
Why does Cali train belt squats when she is so quad-dominant?
Basti S. It's hard to tell unless you look really closely but in the squat it appears her knee angle opens before her hip angle which probably means she's hip dominant in the movement. They are just trying to bring the quads up in the movement so her knee and hip angle open more evenly.
Basti S. because she doesn't understand how to use their quads and it's easier to feel them in belt squats
Juggernaut Training Systems Thanks for clarifying :)
Cali's sister Fornia is also starting her powerlifting career.
Close stance action!
what adidas model is Marisa wearing??
looks like the Powerlift 2.0
They Live We Sleep I'm wearing adidas shell tops
Marissa 90% quads holy fuck
Wow these women can squat 👍🏻
i thirst for Cali
Cali's squat stance is so narrow. Awesome
Marisa Inda's squat looks so strange. She is like a human spring.
omg i want legs like theirs!!!!!
And I thought my stance was narrow.. Nothing wrong with it. Just reminds me of my weaknesses.
You dudes regret doing that last "squat" video yet?

3:45 how they look at each other😍🔥
Team Cali all day

Cali should squat low bar
The Facebook title brought me here
Cali shoulda told you how to pronounce her last name...
Nguyen's an easy name for any Kiwi to pronounce funnily enough, the "ng" sound is quite present in the Maori language
It's just a name
Still moderately happy it didn't come out "Nah-goo-yeen"
Chad how come you're not in a third world squat position??? Am disappoint 8/8
I just come to check girls' makeup quality
What what #Indabutt
