    • @JamUsagi
      @JamUsagi ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@JumpManProductions 2,000 years old sounds about right for that point in the series.
      The 4.5 billion years thing is huge spoilers, so if you don’t want them don’t hit ‘read more’.
      The 12th Doctor is trapped in an endless cycle where he is teleported into a prison, is eventually injured enough that he can’t regenerate, and then burns himself to use as energy to create an exact clone of himself from the moment he teleported in. The final clone survives and escapes fairly quickly thanks to the work of the previous clones, resuming the role of the Doctor.
      So ‘the Doctor’ spends 4.5 billion years in the prison, but the final clone probably ages less than a month.

    For everyone pointing out that other TARDIS also make this noise:
    The Relative Dimensional Stabilizers cycle continuously when a TARDIS is in flight and can sometimes be faintly heard in the Control Room. The sound is clearly audible on the exterior when a TARDIS materializes or dematerializes.
    The Relative Dimensional Stabilizer can be heard LOUDLY on inside as well only IF the operator leaves the brake on.

    In his defense, the tardis was already ancient when he got it. I doubt anyone in his generation knew how to fly that model. Probably had automatic systems controlled by the tardis artificial intelligence. We also know that the tardis does whatever it wants and those buttons might not do anything. The tardis may just have those to entertain the doctor while she moves through time and space.

    This was so lame. I like the idea that it's not supposed to be so rocky and unstable, it's meant to have six pilots. That's fine. But the sound os iconic, thry really shouldn't have tried to explain it as "brakes" that's just... Lame.

    • @MotRekrab1347
      @MotRekrab1347 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I completely agree. To be honest, and I think I might be in a bit of a minority on this, this is the part where I started to dislike River. That noise has been around since the start of the show, and, while it's well established that the Doctor has not always been a complete master at flying the TARDIS, he's not so big a moron as to leave the brakes on for nearly a millennium.
      Besides, isn't the TARDIS sentient? You'd think she would've 'turned the brakes off' if that wasn't how she was meant to work.

    • @theclassyartistd5807
      @theclassyartistd5807 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MotRekrab1347 oh do you know how to control every cell and bacteria in your body ? The tardis can move itself but it definitely can’t change aspects of its self like leaving the brakes on, like when you get sick you need medicine you don’t just turn it off, it works the same for the tardis plus we’ve seen her be sick before and not be able to move

    • @MotRekrab1347
      @MotRekrab1347 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@theclassyartistd5807 Why no, I can't control every cell in my body. But at the same time, I'm not a centuries-old time machine capable of travelling to any known time or space.
      We have seen the TARDIS change aspects of itself. When the console room changes, half the time it's because the TARDIS is the one who did it. And, in the Doctor's Wife, we see the TARDIS move a piece of the console herself. If she's capable of that, it's not exactly a stretch to imagine her capable of, oh I don't know, turning off the brakes if they're giving her trouble.
      I can respect your point that there are things beyond the TARDIS' control, but moving a poxy lever is most certainly not one of them.
      Edit: There's also the fact that pretty much every other TARDIS we've seen in the show (the Master's, the Rani's, even the War Lords' SIDRATs) has made the same sound. Either that's just a side effect of solo piloting the TARDIS, or there's something very wrong at the TARDIS shipyard.
      Or, and this is my preferred thinking for when I actually try to like River, she was just teasing him about the 'leaving the brakes on' thing, and just did something else without telling him. In 'The Impossible Astronaut', the TARDIS does land silently in the Oval Office, so it could just be that.

      banana boat River was born on the TARDIS, maybe she got lessons from it. As for needing six pilots, that may have only been when needing to do something as completely ludicrous as towing an entire planet through the time vortex, since none of the other Time Lords have needed more than one pilot. It could just as easily been a modification that the Doctor or TARDIS made, though, especially after the Doctor blew up the TARDIS last time.

    • @registeredjademark
      @registeredjademark 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@techno1561 I think you're right that the TARDIS gave the lessons. We see multiple hints throughout the show that she is able to roughly communicate with it in the same way the Doctor does, and has flown it solo on countless occasions (as revealed in the Christmas episode).

    • @JuliusFable
      @JuliusFable 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @techno156 River wasn’t born on the TARDIS she was born at Devil’s Run. She was conceived while on the TARDIS and possibly while in transit in the Time Vortex. While Amy was on the TARDIS River some how gained Time Lord DNA while Amy and Rory were with the Doctor in the TARDIS, to my knowledge they haven’t explained how. On the Wiki she is classified as a “child of a TARDIS” and a Proto-Time Lord(Lady).
