They hold the tree all the way down to try and not bust the tree when it hits the ground. If you let those just fall they will shatter. The trick is to open the grab arms just as the limbs touch the ground (and also before the tool cylinder comes to the end of it's stroke) so there is no shock to the machine. Running a buncher is the best job there is. You have to think, plan, and concentrate all day. You get lost in the work, and the day flies by. Never get bored.
Don't quite understand why the operator keeps the grapple arms closed so long by laying the tree's down. That creates a lot of stress on the whole buncher...

I would love to operate one some day.
No you don't hold it all the way down! That's gonna rip off grab arms, you get it just about there, and let go
There's something so menacing about how the saw cuts through the whole tree almost instantly. It's awesome
Big trees!! I was operating a 953m last winter. So much fun.
Yeah good wood up there for sure! Not many 953s around here.
Those are nice machines. Those guys are living a dream
yep i agree i mean i never really used those kind of machines i would have to learn how to use it before i use it on my own
Always greener on the other side...it's just a job...it gets old lol
It looks like a guy that hugs the tree 😊

Great people, great company they did a great job on my site!
They represent the side of this industry I try to represent. Honest, hardworking stewards of the forests.

wow 3:34 They hold the tree down trying not to break it when it hits the ground. If you let them fall, they will break

Everyone does it different I suppose. I have never run one so I can’t really have an opinion on that haha.
Maybe so the tree doesnt split?
Especially when the trees are so big.
mist filter?
Natures mist filter 🤘
Nice machines. undercarriage will be busting up in about 3000hrs. All deere tillers do. It’s the week point
Yep leave tilters up to tigercat and madill!
There all nice new.
These guys see a lot more undercarriage life than that around here typically.
@@jdavenport_photo I’m sure they do I. Just a matter time . They will crack😂
