I could not stop laughing throughout this whole vlog! It just reminded me of watching Napoleon Dynamite for the first time with my mom & my 11 year old neighbor Brooke. Brooke couldn't stop laughing at this movie. My mom kept saying I don't get this movie. The more confused my mom was by it the more Brooke laughed. The more Brooke laughed the more I laughed. By the end my face hurt from laughing so hard. Ahhh good times 😂
Your mom goes to College! I had the best experience watching that in the theater with all elderly people who didn't laugh at it I was cracking up and they all left the theater! Good morning Adam the Woo and everyone too! I'm happy to Woo this Awesome
Tampa Jay My parents and grandparents even liked this movie! Like Adam said it's hard to tell what era it was supposed to take place in which is why I think it appealed to so many generations!
Yep - the music pins it to the early '00s as well. One of the things that are sort of emblematic of small towns is that they don't usually have the most recent tech; hence most people still had VCRs, dial-up internet access, and few cell phones in that era (we only see one in the film) - even if in larger cities DVDs were common and cell phones were routine, with DSL and cable becoming the majority connectivity method. Even that one phone would be non-existent just a couple years earlier. (can you tell I just watched it? :-) )
excellent napoleon dynamite movie sites!! You both did an awesome job reenacting some scenes. I'm still laughing so hard im crying.. Thanks Adam and Justin!
Catching up with your vids after camping for four days. I wish I could like this a thousand times. Napoleon Dynamite is one of my favorite movies of all time.
The intro!!! I laugh so hard I was crying! This was a awesome video! Great job Adam and Justin!! Best team work video I've seen for a long time! This made my day!!
Napoleon's brother is one of my old friends from high school. One of this nicest, (cutiest, lol) guys. I didn't even know it was him until my friend said, "you know that's aaron, right?" Lol
So I'm only almost exactly a year behind posting on this vlog, but thank you for making it. This is probably our family's favorite movie to watch together, we have perhaps seen it six times or more and we never stop laughing and saying the lines. Thanks Adam & Co.
I found this on Goggle lol..... The film is set during the 2004-2005 school year, as shown on Napoleon's student ID card in the title sequence. However, the film contains a number of anachronisms indicating that it would be more appropriately set in the 1980s or 1990s. For example, Deb wears a side ponytail and Napoleon wears Moon Boots, both popular fashion trends of the 1980s. One scene is set at a school dance which only plays 1980s music such as Alphaville's "Forever Young," while a later scene features students performing a sign language rendition of "The Rose" sung by Bette Midler. Much of the technology in the film is also archaic; Napoleon uses a VCR and Walkman cassette player, Kip connects to the Internet via a pay-per-minute dial-up connection and Uncle Rico drives a 1975 Dodge Tradesman.
Craig The Scottish Guy I saw this, too. I think it's part purposeful ambiguity of the actual date. But also a bit of commentary on small town life and how slowly trends and fads come to small-town America. :-)
LMAO!!! I don't care how many times I see it, you going down that slide on the bike makes me laugh out loud EVERY TIME!!! I always love your stuff, but this was one of your best and funniest vlogs in a while! You guys are nuts! LOL! Great job. Peace!
I never comment, but I am a huge filming locations nerd and had to say I really enjoyed this one Adam. Thanks man, I'm going to have to somehow get over to Preston just to see this. It would be the ONLY motivation to visit there, I'd say.
MovieJohn It may take a few videos to "get" his style. A lot of people are put off at his silliness. But when he gets on a streak of history and a subject he likes, his vlogs are incredibly informative. Packed with facts and history. Watch his recent trip down Route 66. Amazing how much I learned.
Lol, yesterday at Burger King I used a Tots line on my daughter. Then she realized I video'd it. Would have been hilarious to see the Woo do the dance as the outro.
OMGEEEEEE!!! I totally was just in Idaho. We did not make it to Preston but i did think of Napoleon Dynamite when i was there. One of my faves! Thanks for this video!!!
I'm a fan of yours and Justin's and this was totally funny. It was so nice for that homeowner to allow you guys to film the from of his home in the beginning of the video. He seems like a really cool guy. It looks like you guys had a blast doing this vlog. Great job!
Did you see the brown brick house with the long driveway by all the semis? That’s my house. I live like 2 blocks away from his house lol. And the secretary in the movie with the chapstick? She’s in my ward. I see her like every week. And the bleachers you’re at are right by my church. The elementary school you play tetherball at is my old school. 😂 I love Preston
Great way to start the day, you and Justin are great together. Just finished Justin's vlog as well, I think the vlogs were better than the movie, Great Job guys.
Justin is such a tool. He tries WAY too hard to be quirky and funny, and always just comes across as irritating. He's the only guest I don't like; others such as Jacob The Carpetbagger, Tim/Jenn Tracker or even Adam's family all seem like great people, and they're all effortlessly fun. No overblown antics required. I don't like to complain (this is my first even remotely negative comment, in fact) and I know he's Adam's friend, but man, I just can't stand the guy.
That was flippin awesome! You crack us up Adam! From your intro (Adam the Woo here) to your horizontal ending (Vlog over) this one was better than an Uncle Rico football pass over a mountain. Love how you also took your bike over that sweet jump! Comment over....don't be jealous that I've been chatting with babes online all day.
+AdamTheWoo Be careful of the eclipse today. I know you already know this stuff, but without the proper filters on your camera the eclipse can damage the lense of the camera the same as the retinas of the eye. :)
Patty Gadberry And two days ago he bought a polarized filter. I'm hoping like heck he doesn't think that is all he needs to film the eclipse. I IMMEDIATELY thought that when he showed it in the vlog.
This video made us so happy! We live in Cache Valley now, but have been visiting Preston for many years. We even met Napoleon’s dog once. You guys are great together…or apart. 🤩
His father was a blowhard preacher. So he rebelled, got a lot of bad tattoos, decided to join a band, despite never learning an instrument, obsesses over pop culture and refuses to behave in a responsible, adult manner to this day.
Very cool, Adam! I stopped there with my family on the way to Yellowstone a few years back. Got a picture with the tether ball pole too. The weirdest thing was as we left Preston, the song from the end of the film came on the radio.
Morning from UK Adam! Awesome Vlog with the great Justinscared! I have never seen the movie but I will now after I have just watched your Vlog about it!
OKAY, I just came across this, I visited the town this time last year. The gift shop you were in trying on the wigs in was my FAVORITE PART because the lovely woman that owns it was so gracious. I screamed when I saw her in the video!!!
HECK YEAH! "Well, you have a sweet bike. And you're really good at hooking up with chicks. Plus you're like the only guy at school who has a mustache."

It is set in the current day. In the title sequence, when we see Napoleon's school ID it says 2004-2005 school year.

Agreed 100%
what about the backstreet boys song though during the talent show?
It’s the current time of 2004 but Idaho is just behind modern times so they are still living in the 90s. If that makes any sense
This was an Indy movie when they were filming,
Budget so super low so t makes sense to use out dated and cheap tech and devices.
Hands down one of the best videos you've made so far! Glad to see you looking genuinely happy doing what you want to do.
Omg this is one of your best videos I laughed so many times thanks for making my day
“Buddy named Lyle”
Possibly the same Lyle that shot the cow in the first half of the movie 👀
Awesome video today!!! You guys brought much needed smiles and even giggles for me today!
Those are pretty much the worst tetherball skills to ever exist.
AWESOME video today! Love seeing the filming locations of such a classic comedy! You and Justin are hilarious together!

Try it again. Took me two or three watchings to truly appreciate it.
