The Sharpie being transparent cetain would have its uses. Thinking if doing a faux stained glass style piece based on this info now! Thanks so much for your videos. So glad you are recovering well
My school did this actually, we used sharpies and what we did to combat the transparent aspect of the sharpies is paint the back of it, after shrinking it, with white paint. either way, amazing video, love art. edit: this is if you wish to make the color of sharpies more solid, its your choice.

To anyone who thinks they can’t draw-Sika I’m looking you lol-drawing is a learned skill. When I started art school I couldn’t draw and one of my professors sat me down and had a serious but very encouraging talk about want to be an artist vs working to be an artist. He said I needed to practice a lot more so I asked for extra work and he gave me a list of exercises and ideas and I drew my heart out. At the end of the semester he asked me to come talk to him after class, I was terrified. He made me take out my first and last assignment of the semester and look at the difference. We were both in shock at how much I had improved. I’m not saying I can draw anything and everything, but I’m pretty damn good at what I do. And if I can do it, you can too. And thank you both for bringing me back to my childhood and remembering days of shrinky dinks! So much fun!!! Love you both to pieces!
This is so true! I think a lot of people believe drawing ability is something you’re born with but it doesn’t have to be! I decided I wanted to teach myself to draw in my late twenties. You can learn to draw at any age if you want to, and you shouldn’t be afraid to practice and make things you don’t love - not every drawing has to be perfect and even the “bad” ones teach you what techniques you like or don’t 👍
@@katelillo1932 exactly! When I started school I could paint really well but I couldn’t draw anything. Other students could draw perfectly but had no idea what to do with paint. By the time we all graduated we were all pretty damn good
I was once told that if you were able to learn how to write, you’ll be able to learn to draw. Talent is so much less important that most people think, it’s hard work that counts.
When you do these you should do them inverted! The colors and everything are smoother on the opposite side! So definitely try doing them inverted and flip them around to see a bit better results!
We used to make shrinkydinks all the time when I was growing up and I've made them a few times with my daughter. The plastic charms were used on necklaces, bracelets, as keychains, etc. The only craft supply I've used on the shrink plastic is colored pencil.
When I was a child, my mom used shrink foil for decorating easter eggs. I do not know if it is only a Thing in germany to bring in greening twigs and decorating them with wooden figurines and blown out eggs. But that was her Idea to use those decorative foil for.
Sakura glitter pens are amazing on shrink plastic, I love it, you just have to remember to give it time to go back to its original size... made embellishments, key chains all sorts You can also use a craft heat gun to shrinkage plastic, and to make sure its flat, just use the bottom of a glass to flatten it. Remember the plastic is returning to its original size, during manufacture its stretched into thin sheets. Great video as always jackie. Hope you are mending well and managing some crafting, sending much love x
The glitter condenses, and because it's superfine in the pens the results are amazing. I found the darker colours gave the best results and we're opaque! If you can get white shrink plastic the colours are better. Also use an alcohol ink pad and use rubber stamps, great for jewellery, card and sculpting embellishments
Copics are a transparent medium, so it being pretty transparent on the plastic doesn't surprise me much (tosca and colored pencils are opaque). Also, the effect that happened with the copics was probably due to a reaction to the film or coating they use on the plastic
Hack: place a shrunk, uncolored piece on top of a colored shrunken piece and set again in the oven, you'll get amazing fake blown glass. You can even put a pin for an earring in between and get pretty fake glass earrings.
I always feel a little envy because where I live, or art supplies are expensive or non existent. But it cheers me up see you guys testing stuff and doing art

I think the translucent effect of the Sharpies could be really fun to play with, and that kit looks like it's actually a good deal. I hope your recovery is smooth and with the least amount of pain possible!
I love shrink plastic. I'm a papercrafter and make shaker cards sometimes. My last shrink plastic card was a shaker cards with little shrink plastic star wars characters and light sabers. I used stamps from kindred stamps and copics to colour them. I used a heat tool to melt them because I'm too lazy to take them to the oven 😂
This video could not be more perfect! I had just gotten a pack of shrink plastic to try out and wanted to know the best supplies to use on it! I have used cheap crayola crayons and after shrinking, the clolors smudged off.
Shrinky Dinks! I was such a huge fan of these as a kid in the 80s. They came with pre-printed images that you colored in an cut out. I also had a set with plain plastic that I could draw whatever I wanted on. I remember making key chains and a custom tag for my dog’s collar.

Sorry to inform you buddy, but practically you can't do that. We appreciate your feelings tho. 💅🏻
@@lightyagami8760 das was a kind of joke buddy I was just exaggerating that how I fast I clicked :3 🤗
@@smirskter4974 I'm joking too, no hard feelings buddy✨
I think the translucent effect of the Sharpies could be really fun to play with, and that kit looks like it's actually a good deal. I hope your recovery is smooth and with the least amount of pain possible!
*Someone needs to get Jackie a new Turtle hat.. She is starting a new chapter.. time for a new hat.*
Just discovered you through Ace of Clay. You2 are totally adorable 😍 Love your artwork and humour. Much love from Scotland UK 🤘🏻😊🤘🏻
In my experience cutter pencils don't work very well neither does crayons
I love shrink plastic. I'm a papercrafter and make shaker cards sometimes. My last shrink plastic card was a shaker cards with little shrink plastic star wars characters and light sabers.
I used stamps from kindred stamps and copics to colour them. I used a heat tool to melt them because I'm too lazy to take them to the oven 😂
me *cries* because I can't see sika's "pg-13" shrinkidy drinkidies *XD but :{
hope you're recovering wonderfully !! stay safe and healthy, sending lots of love your way jackie !! 💚
Sika made a "mushroom" 🍄 didn't she
Jackie, your face thumbnail always cracks me up. Your 'discerning' face is the best!

I love watching the sharp pointy thing being waved, and since there's two, I can watch twice as fast 👀🙌😋
