I owned a 1977 Gran Marquis, it was used with only 31,000 miles, it was my first car, had a 460 4 barrel engine, all options, leather seats, what a nice ride, it was painted a canary yellow, with landau roof, skirts, looked like a lincoln continental. it was a grand lady, super stylish, not a bad first car for a 19 year old, girlfriends like riding in it, i wish i still had it.
I love cars like this that have incredibly low miles, it's literally like going back in time. As interesting as cars like this are the real story is how does a car end up not being driven? What's the story?🤔
Grand Marquises were the ones that you bought when you had money. These were the ones that had all the options standard. You bought a Ford LTD when you needed a big car, but you either didn't have as much money or didn't feel you needed all the stuff this has.
@@josephwilliams4780 that's correct. I loved his LTD. Two door with high back front seats. (At least in the first couple of years). But, all in the same family of vehicles.
It's a real shame more cars like this from that time period were not saved. Yes they made little power but the styling and the way they drove and the ride was great. Made for our big American highways. What a great automobile.
SUCKED up gasoline ("400"), rode NICE, handled like a "HUGE fish outta water"! My buddy gave it to me (to get it out of his responsibility!) but I LIKED it!
My father had this car and I had the privilege to drive it a couple of times. Most comfortable ride ever, would cruise at 100 mph all day long. Only issue was very, very thirsty, lucky to get 10 mpg.
Bought one of these in FLA. in the late 70's. This is the first one I've seen since with this style of hub cap. Those caps were the heaviest I had ever seen. Never weighed them, but they had to be at least 20lb. Do you still have this vehicle ? It's a beauty! I used to live in the Detroit area, and I don't recall seeing you guys.
That's one you really want to keep all original and not drive it. Cars are meant to drive, but you only have original once and I'd hate to see it lose it.
This is coming from a big caddy fan. I think it could be argued that this car is better than the closest caddy to it, the 76 fleetwood (last big one) With covered headlamps, no crappy bumper fillers, better vinyl top since it doesn't have that weird piece of vinyl on the door.
That they were LOL I had 4 of them ,thats when you could pick them up 7 or 8 years old and no one wanted them 1000 BUCKS ,got a couple for 800 ,good shape too ,but not this damn good ,Wow
